Just beat MW2R campaign on veteran and all it made me wish for was to complete the trilogy and remaster of the blops trilogy (waw-bo2) they wanted up to actual preorders these shit games that’s the move only reason I got the special edition or whatever infant warfare back in the day
I like to think that maybe earlly on you we're suppose to play soap in the mw3 campaign and the guy in the trailer is actually an earlier version of what yuri would look like but they might have changed it so you play as yuri instead.
Imagine in next MW They show Soap is alive or they somehow managed to brought him back alive and he is in the masked version to hide his identity.

That's actually really cool and good on the devs for not spoiling the reveal and hiding Soap in plain sight. That sort of thing isn't really seen nowadays, or if it is used, it's used to draw in unsuspecting players and lie to them. (Looking at you TLOU Part 2, and I guess you could maybe say Battlefield 2042 also)
The actual outfit design is pretty cool too, is it actually in the game as like an enemy or perhaps one of the class skins?
It actually appears in multiplayer as the sniper skin for the PMC faction.
@@toad6565 Oh, cool, I was wondering if that was the case as I remember the older CODs having set outfits for each class on each team rather than the COD of today where there's different operators and different skins for those operators.
I'm glad they didn't waste the outfit used to hide soap, though.

Probably because since mw2 the players were still unsure if soap was alive or not from the stab wound. So they probably felt like soap showing up in the trailer fine and not injured ,would give the impression that Soap is ok and would kinda spoil it?

Yeah.
My guess is that Infinity Ward had actually planned for Soap to die much earlier during the prologue or Persona Non Grata, which would've given the campaign story a larger emphasis around avenging his death, but they decided to keep Soap in for much longer just for the sake of market appeal and not having to go through the task of writing a completely new character to replace his role.
There’s no guessing needed. They simply needed b-roll footage and Soap appears in most missions. So for the sake of marketing and as to not spoil his fate at the end of MW2 and leave players wondering, they swapped his model for a random NPC.
Showing Soap in the trailer would confirm he survives which kills the intrigue and tension of the mission Persona Non Grata.
