Test Firing an AK (With No Rivets??)

- In the name of science, we test fire an AK that has the front trunnion (and barrel assembly) held in only by the support dimples, no rivets whatsoever. This is a genuinely bad idea, but I figured it would be kind of fun to test anyway!

About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this UA-cam channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.

@@Hackerman-bd9hq you have made me genuinely curious as to the legality of a "trap" gun one designed to look normal but have a special code located somewhere on the gun you can see and read so of someone tries to steal or just pick up from the gun shop counter and shoot it the gun fails catastrophically maybe a barrel that is only hollow for half the barrel and is only dimpled together but is otherwise the same as a fully functional firearm

@@adriankingston4338 at 5:35 you can even see the ammo, that doesn't look like a blank to me, also you can clearly see there is recoil and the gun is cycling even though there is no muzzle device attached. Those were real rounds if you ask me

Blanks don't cycle the bolt.

Self-destruct sequence so enemy can't use your weapon :)
It wasnt really that dangerous, as long as the bolt was locked, and it was headspaced right, it would shoot fine, and if the barrel was moved forward then the bolt wouldnt lock and it wouldnt fire. But I can still understand the fear shooting something not held together very well lol. When I built my kit I didnt have a press, only a big vice and a cheater bar (I bent the shit out of the press's handle eventually) and when I test fired it I was paranoid as well. Turned out perfectly fine though!
Also, I still have one 80% from childers. If anyone sees this, what would you build next after building a romanian fixed stock dong build? I was thinking of a polish kit and making it a modern style ak, then leaving the romanian with its beautious hard dong.
Getting a hydraulic press would be well worth it imo if youre interested in building more. Just did a sweet little pistol build could be something to consider doing

What a mad lad! I was genuinely scared for something going terribly wrong
2 years ago I built 2 AKMD-65 Kits. But 8nstead of riviting the receiver to the trunion, I spot welded it on tight. And then filled in all rivit holes with a tigwelder. As I was going for an AK with slick receiver finish without any rivits. And these two builds turned out beautifully. And each has well over 2000 rds with no distortion. Highly recommended

It is a testament to the design of something when you can leave out vital parts and it will STILL function for at least a short period of time.

Hey man I made this comment about a year ago, but now that you have an AK factory, can you do a video on an 80% AK Receiver and build? I know most people can't complete it, but other people who have other professions want to pretend to be gun smith's too and they may have become quasi experts on the other 80 percenters, so you doing a video on that build would help amateur gun builders a lot and teach people the true ends and outs. I love your content and this would be a great series, and you can make it into multiple episodes!

... as a fellow gun builder, I sympathize with the hesitation you're feeling. I feel the same way the first time I fire a new build, regardless how good a builder I am. That moment of truth is always a sphincter clencher. ALWAYS.
