I have 2 they paired up, and seem to have incorporated the mini zebra danios into their group. At the time i didn't know you should have at least 6 to 10. But they seem very happy, and have grown in such a short time.
I have had just 2 Rasboras in a 10 gallon planted, sand substrate tank. They seem very happy and school with 2 zebras danios and 3 white skirt tetra's. Also have 2 pigmy corys and 1 dwarf Ghost Shrimp. I'm working on getting a bigger tank..but really not needed. My ph is high but they have adapted. 8.0 pH. 76 to 80 Temp. Fluval aqua clear H.O.B. 1 SMALL SPONGE FILTER. GOD BLESS YOU
Hi there, great question! In our opinion, Harlequin Rasboras are the easiest, but both the Espei and Hengeli Rasbora are pretty straightforward to care for and good choices for beginners as well!
Hello! I was wondering why my group of 10 harlequin rasbora that has been added to my newly cycled (5 weeks) 37 gallons aquarium about one week ago began hiding in a corner of the tank. The day before, they were fine and acting normal, but suddenly, they began hiding in my plants at the bottom of the tank together. I found that weird, since my water parameters were fine when I tested them. My aquarium is around 25 C. Since they are always hiding, I have difficulty feeding them. I hoped someone could help me
If they're the only fish in the tank, it's possible they're a little spooked! Adding more fish as your tank continues to establish itself should encourage them to come out more. Corydoras aren't scared of anything and are very helpful additions in these cases! 👍
honestly not the hardest to get them to spawn just a pain raising fry. mine often spawn in the mornings on an algae magnet [ i removed the magnet and they dont do it as much now] particularly when i first got them. but my neons and the other harlequins ate the eggs
@@amazingaquaticsandexotics3030 do they spawn eggs on glass or grass, or they just throw 'em anywhere or at the bottom of the tank? Or there is no rule?
@@RaceSmokie i hear varying reports. some say they carefully place them on plant leaves but despite having tons of plants in the tank they chose the magnet. they sort of scattered the eggs on the magnet but they didnt stick to it and the eggs fell down to the substrate where they got eaten
In 45 years of keeping fish I'd never kept Harlequin Rasbora. Then on a whim a got a little school of them and fell in love. I'm really sorry I never kept them before.

That's called stress schooling, a sign that they are not happy at all.
Great footage, these are my favorite schooling fish! 😎👍
Thank you! 😊
Thank You Tom , it's so nice to learn from you again. Lise S.A.M. (société d'Aquariophilie de Montréal and M.A.S.)
In 50+ years in the hobby, I don't think I've ever not had Harlequins in my collection.
me either but sure want to.
Just got mine today!!
Fabulous little fish! I really enjoy my school of 15 along with a single bolivian ram in a planted 20 long. :) Hardy and fun to watch.
Beautiful fishes 🐟🐠
Thanks! 😄
Great video❤
Thank you! 😄
@@fluval where are you from?
What are the parameters of the tank in this video? I’m looking to keep cardinals and harlequins with and apisto or ram
Will there ever be cichlids in the species spotlight?

@@fluval awesome, thx
Any schooling fish recommended for a 10 gallon? I have a heavily planted walstad style tank. Thanks.
Ember Tetras (H. amandae) are a good choice for those types of tanks! 👍

How do Espei (Lambchop) Rasboras compare? Are these also as hardy and good for beginners as the Harlequin is?

Bravo from Romania
I love these fish. Mine were hardy and long lived. And they are very active.

@@fluval i actually added five more rasboras that swum a lot and the other ones ended up joining them! Thank you for the tip!
It will be nice to hear how to breed 'em.

@@amazingaquaticsandexotics3030 hmmmm, so, just have 6-7 of them, put 'em in the separate aquarium, feed em and that's it?
@@RaceSmokie pretty much. but they are voracious when it comes to eating eggs so some bushy plants would be needed

Isn't that a Trigonostigma Hengeli? i.e. Red Raspora Hengeli? Not the Trigonostigma Heteromorpha aka Harlequin Rasbora?
