The phrase "VHS release of The Crow" unleashed some primal memories in me
I felt the earth move and the trees rattle.
I still have this VHS and watched it in October, it was dope
I rented it with a buddy and when we got home it was a copy of some Star Trek episodes. Some guy kept the actual movie and removed the sticker and placed it on his own tape of tv episodes. We were so pissed because the store was closed by the time we got home and revealed the ruse 😡
The title was cutoff so the last part just said "ft. Jam..." and I genuinely thought this would be a collab with Jamie Lee Curtis
Honestly knowing her she'd probably do it lmao
Get my favourite Cammy main on the show!
I thought that it was gonna be James A. Janisse (Dead Meat James).
Come on, Matt, you know what you gotta do next year.
@@dn22pkkdd476 Space Jam? Wait!
MICHAEL JORDAN!
I feel like wanting to take Myers to space was something he said to make sure they would not give him the job without him having to outright say no. Which makes me wish we got that movie all the more. I want to see Carpenter's "Goddammit it, it was a joke!" Halloween movie.
True it would've been a treat to say the least, maybe an inch better than Jason X with Killers going to space. XD
Myers X would be amazing, as one of the few people who liked Jason X.
I could see Carpenter going full Big Trouble In Little China if he had to do that movie
Everything is better in Space. Legally the 3rd sequel needs to be " 4: In Space". Possibly why there's no godfather Part 4?
Nah, Ridley Scott did that with Alien: Covenant after everyone hated on Prometheus. Something like "they want Aliens, I'll give them fucking Aliens" was what he said.
So we got robot fiddling and baby xenojesus.
The Limp Bizkit reference was appropriate, because they released a new album today. Spookiest thing to happen.
Took em what 20 years lol
Dad Vibes
And it is really good
@@HoraceInkling Yes
And it slaps
That Weinstein shot with the Dr Loomis sound bite was a work of art.
Too bad none of the cuts included that scene of the kid in the wheelchair falling from a cliff while an alien watches which is required by law to be in every Paul Rudd movie.
Nice to see the John Carpenter "this thing sucks" line becoming a surefire meme
Interesting thing: the "producer's cut" used to be something of a rarity. Once upon a time the only way to actually see it was as a bootleg copy with grainy as hell footage. It wasn't until fairly recently they gave it a legit release. 🎃
I have a bootleg dvd of it, but it will only play on my ps2 oddly.
Actually, Taratino's pitch where you have this skilled, strong, but ultimately a normal human, bounty hunter trying to drag and placate a paranormal killing machine somewhere sounds interesting. It could have been, and could still be, really interesting. Would take some work to wring horror out of that concept though.
Not for Myers. I can't imagine it working while keeping his face a msytery and him not talking.
That could be its own movie but you'd need to build up the killer
@@DSan-kl2yc I think it could still work with Myers, or even Jason; part of the problem with those two characters is that they're so iconic and well known that the mystery and mystic has been ruined (like the aliens franchise), and their formula is perhaps now too cliche or overdone.
Something such as this pitch could be a shake-up that the formula would need to surprise people. Like I said though, it would take a skilled writer to wring out the horror, and more-so, make it work within a franchise's themes and boundaries (such as not showing off Myers too much).
Definitely work well, perhaps even better, just as it's own original movie though.
@@ImCurrentlyNaked Shake up the formula? Dude, it sounds like a minor change to Pulp Fiction and that's being fairly generous. Tarantino is not someone you want working on horror, unless every suddenly develops a fear of the foot fetish and weird cuts between characters.
@@Valkod23 ... What? Have you actually watched Pulp Fiction? It's not a horror movie, nor does any part of its plot resemble this pitch.
I agree that Tarantinto would be a poor choice of director (only because he hasn't proven himself as a horror director), but it doesn't mean his pitch should be discarded, or that he can't write an initial script.
When I wrote "Shake up the formula", I was talking about the Halloween formula, not Pulp Fiction's (how on earth did you get that idea?). Horror movies are often quite predictable, the pitch seems as though it would make for a fairly unpredictable and perhaps more interesting horror movie.
And say what you will about Tarantinto's directing, but he's one of the most beloved directors out there, people love his films, and would would likely get more butts in seats than any actor.
@@Valkod23 dude literally any is better than just a guy in a mask slaughtering everyone with no reason and THATS THE MOVIE, after a GAZILLION movies it's a good thing for someone to at least to try to give them some characterization (there's literally zero difference between him and jason so make him at least controllable would have meant something)
Paul Rudd beating the green goop out of Michael is one of my favorite scenes ever
Honestly, I would love there to be a movie where all the slasher villains come together to compete on a horror-themed Big Brother-esque reality show with the big reveal that Michael Myers was actually acclaimed comedian Mike Myers all along!
Oh wait...
Be honest, we still want to see it.
Robot chicken sure is great
"Aw, dude! Where's my sweater?!"
"Chill out. It's in the dryer."
"You fool! The label clearly says perm press only!"
"XD"
The two things that always stick out in my head about this movie are how the Weinsteins hated Donald Pleasance and cut most of his screen time because they thought he was "too old and boring"
And that they hated the actress playing Kara Strode because supposedly they thought she was "too thin and her chin was too pointy" (And given what we know now, I think we can figure out the REAL reason)
Yup, the Weinsteins were always garbage people.
A 15 year old account? Wow
Welp. I might as well be your first subscriber. You deserve it for managing to have this UA-cam account since 2006.
@@marko-gj1uj I mean mine isn't much younger. there's plenty of people from the Dinosaur age of YT.
…….THEY WERE THE ONES WHO DID THAT?!!
The Weinstein brothers also produced (since this film); "Django unchained", "scream 4", "inglorious bastards", and... "Hoodwinked".
How the heck did "Hoodwinked" get made by these guys?
Apparently Hoodwinked's director had to fight with the Weinstein brothers to prevent any studio interference.
@@AluminumFusion22 And even then, the Weinsteins won on one occasion, they successfully re-casted nearly every main role in the film. Only Patrick Warburton and Andy Dick had their roles kept.
@@hipsterelephant2660 ...Dicks
And then when the creators of Hoodwinked tried to do another movie with them with Escape From Planet Earth they screwed them over constantly by forcing numerous rewrites, ordering elements that were scrapped to be put back in multiple drafts later, casting the movie only to recast everybody resulting in Kevin Bacon being paid for work he never actually did and when it came time to give Harvey a screening of the movie he just sat there not even watching whilst eating M&M’s and when his assistant tried to save his diabetic ass by taking them away he started shovelling the spilled M&M’s off of the floor into his mouth for no reason
@@mrcritical6751 I hope that this is true. Because it pretty much exemplifies every disgusting quality that's been said of Harvey Weinstein.
Daniel Farrands have made 2 really good documentaries, 1 on Nightmare on Elm Street called Never Sleep Again. The other is on Friday the 13th titled Crystal Lake Memories. Really well done deep dives for genre fans.
Just gotta say, while some might say it's wild that the AVGN is in this video, I am actually glad that it isn't the AVGN but James playing as himself.
Halloween kills would’ve totally been better received if they brought back Paul Rudd and Busta Rhymes and factor them into the story.🤣
Paul Rudd was actually sought out to reprise Tommy Doyle in Kills, but he was busy with Ghostbusters Afterlife.
@@repulser93 but Busta was available right? 😂
Busta doesn't have his dreads anymore....pass! Lol
All I needed was Busta coming back in the film randomly saying "Trick or Treat....Motherfucka!!!"
Movie would have been over to quick if busta was brought back, would of fucked Michael up with a spinning round house 🤣
"Whose career could've been made or broken by the duo." Yeah, sounds like the Weinsteins alright.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the great replication of the glowing orange text for things like the ticket sales at 9:03 ?
Wow, seeing Matt and the AVGN finally together like this..is dope
I feel like Paul Rudd is way more immortal than Michael Myers.
Honestly, I feel like plenty of this movie’s core problems can be traced directly to where Halloween 5 and it’s messy production left things.
6:25 Translation: "we didn't want to pay Christopher Lee what he was worth"
I'd love to hear about the behind the scenes of Fable or the Fable series as a whole. Lots of unmet promises with some people loving and some people hating it.
And bring guru larry into the picture
I guess there'll be What Happened? for Halloween Kills soon.
Hopefully not before Battlefield Earth.
Why? It didn't have a troubled production, just got delayed because of the pandemic.
@@12Gage541 God, it *feels* like it did. Would not be surprised if we see a Producer's Cut or something eventually because it is a looooong movie.
I like the video game episodes of this series a lot, that's what started it. But I have to say Matt, I really enjoy when you give this same treatment to movies. Very fun and interesting to watch and listen to. Great work as usual!
Is an episode about The Crow coming next? Because that was a lot of specific footage during the "If you know of any other cursed productions..." Bit at the end?
One thing i like about this movie is the mask, after the trashy alien from 5 that Michael didn't even bother to tuck in, the mask actually looks great
It would be cool to see an episode on LJN
This is the crossover I never realized I needed, props to you for getting the OG Matt.
10:36 I think Halloween sequels would have gone a lot better if they were given to Horror movie legend Some Guy smh
"Troubled production"
*shows the scene from The Crow where Brandon Lee was accidentally killed by an actor using a hot gun*
I see what you did there
One has to wonder just how much of these difficulties could have been alieviated by the director taking Harvey up on his offer of "Simply come over to this corner and see how I water my plants"
Watch, a few years after Halloween Ends has passed, the interdimensional Michael team up and final battle between an army of the Strode family will happen.
Funny enough this is the Halloween movie I've re watched the most out of all of them.
Which one Theatrical or Producer's Cut.
my condolences.
So does this mean Matt got his Final Fight Revenge back from the Nerd?
The thing I love the most about this whole ordeal is how people complained about Ol' Myers not being in Halloween 3, thus killing a pretty good horror movie idea(an anthology horror series with faint connecting beats)
...and then were IMMEDIATELY shown why continuing the Michael Myers series past Halloween 2 was a bad idea.
Should’ve just let John Carpenter do his thing
James' retrospective on Halloween during Monster Madness was his Magnum opus.
10:05 is that a Simpsons reference? The way he says it is exactly how Scratchy asks that question to Poochie.
It was interesting I first realized Curse on my Halloween Resurrection dvd. Though I didn't see it until I saw the other ones at the time around the Rob Zombi remakes
I'm usually not affected by flashing lights and strobing but holy shit that strobe light effect was so fucking intense it literally hurt to look at
How did Bimmy Rolfe find the time for this?
Crazy to think we finally doubled the amount of Halloween movies since this one was released, with one more to go.
Glad to see Rolfe doing more collabs. Thank goodness for Halloween 2018. That was the best Halloween since the original. I haven't heard good things about Halloween Kills but I hope future films do more what 2018 did.
I agree
Halloween kills was decent but way too many people are shitting on it like it’s the worst thing since resurrection or Halloween 2 (2009)
I dont think Kills is as strong compared to suprisingly good 2018 film, but it's still better than most the sequels by a landslide. Kills will be another fan favorite with age, its practicality Micheal Myers porn for fans
@@nathanduncan672 Honestly, people are blowing stuff way out of proportions like this is the worst film of the series.
At worst is just average.
Really the only problems it has are some characters sometimes do stupid things some of them due to poor writing and others can be choke up to characters just being way too terrified out of their wits, some clunky dialogue here and there (Brackett going "He's turned us into monsters", the mob's constant usage of "Evil dies tonight!"), and that the plot is rather all over the place.
It's definitely gonna get better with time, and the release of the extended cut on blu-ray.
So many people are dropping video's on this specific movie in the past day lmao
Super funny how both you and Chris Stuckmann dropped videos on Halloween 6 today lol
Matt and Chris Stuckmann review the same movie on the same day!. The stars are truly in alignment.
Believe it or not James Rolfe's Halloween Cinematic Universe pitch ACTUALLY HAPPENED while Dimension still held on to the rights as there were plans to connect the then 3 timelines together with a movie that delved into parallel universes and shit.
@MattMcMuscles - @ 10:00 when James Rolfe (The AVGN) appears for his cameo & you say, "You look like you have something to say... Do you????" Yes...… I most DEFINITELY see what you did there!!!! (AKA: Poochie Died on the way back to his "home planet"). That's almost like:
Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been 'when it's right, it's right'
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
And we know the night is always gonna be there any way,.... thanks again brother!!!!
Next Halloween will be the Halloween Kills What Happened?
I really wonder how long it's gonna take until behind the scenes talk starts dripping from Kills. Like, all the themes and intentions aside, that movie absolutely felt like it was originally like 3 hours long and they cut every scene down for time, it's so badly rushed there has to be at least some stories of what's missing.
Halloween 3 is by far my favourite of the sequels. Its unique, weird and fun with a great third act.
Honestly, it's the best Halloween movie after the original.
It’s such a great movie
Oh lord there’s also the 3D gimmick reboot with kill point of view shots
It's insane that this franchise has split into five bespoke timelines with all the retcons that sequels have brought-about over the years.
It's so weird that two of my favorite YT guys have collaborated with you, James Rolfe and Maximilian Dood
The Weinsteins also drove the hellraiser films into the ground. Everything they touched turned to crap.
Nice to see you cover this! I bought the producers cut and it is pretty awesome. I consider it a good send off to the original series. Although man...Michael being in FvJ would have rocked
amazing video!! happy halloween everyone, and also happy anniversary matt!!
You should do a What Happened video about Bioshock Infinite if its possible.
Love that you and Chris Stuckmann released videos today about this movie
Sick Video Matt, Made my Halloween that much better!
I would have like to see that movie, *Halloween 6 Michael does a bunch of Acid*
Looking forward to the upcoming episode on Halloween Kills
Hearing about all the supposed versions of Halloween 6, this movie was just doomed to fail.
Thank you!!! Happy Halloween, McMuscles and Flophouse fam!!
Ohhhhh!!!!!!! Epic crossover!!! THE NERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've got a reboot trilogy idea. It starts with an origin story for Michael himself in the opening (A-la the Rob Zombie remake), then, after Judith is killed, it flashes forward to Laurie and her friends as it recreates the original film.
The next entry focuses on an old Laurie Strode and she trains her Great GrandDaughter, like Obi-Wan Kenobi Trained Luke Skywalker. Then, her Great GrandDaughter Survives Halloween Night on her own, and she reunites with Laurie and tells her Michael is back.
The Final Entry shows Laurie and her Great GrandDaughter as they come face to face with Michael Myers once again and they fights him, Just like in Laurie and Allyson did Halloween Ends. But the fight is long and drawn out, like the Mustafar duel in Revenge Of The Sith. Eventually, Michael would be defeated and buried.
As a big crossover and conclusion of this timeline, Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Michael shows Michael being resurrected and fighting Freddy and Jason. This time, Laurie would not appear since she died before this crossover, leaving it to just these guys to duke it out.
Oh god, Halloween 6?! I wasn't expecting this Wha Happun, but it makes so much sense considering that, y'know, it's Halloween 6. Also I'm really happy to see James talking about this movie again xD
- V.D.
How did I miss this, this is what I needed.
Great work Sir thank you
John Carpenter only coming back on the grounds of shooting Michael into space seems almost like a shitpost on his part and I love it.
Happy Halloween 🎃
Paul Rudd is in that? He doesn't look like he aged at all since then wtf
This franchise should never end up until they have the balls to bring Mike Myers for the ultimate confrontation against Michael Myers
I think a Wha Happun on Ant-Man would be interesting. The original Ant-Man pitch spawned the MCU, it changed directors, had leaked concept footage, and is a big MCU trilogy now with QoOooOOoOoo coming out.
Nice pvz ost, would love a what happened on the second game or any game in the series !
OK so I might be going crazy from spending multiple hours trying to beat Nightmare King Grimm the other day, or it is really playing NKG's theme from Hollow Knight in the background of this video?
3:50 CREEPY CAVERNS!!!
Great video! Absolutely loved getting all this information about a bad movie in a horror franchise I adore. (Can't deny that James being in the video did get me to click, but I ended up staying for you, Matt!)
It would be great to see an episode on hello neighbor one day, the game had a ton of hype early on in development, but fell flat when fully released.
Will a Wha Happun eventually come for Halloween Kills?
a collab with cinnemassacre that’s legendary
Anyone remember when mattmcmuscles appears on the Avgn episode called bad final fight games.
Cool avgn is here
Perfect timing, I literally just finished watching the original Halloween before this. And I *don't* misuse the word "literally".
Happy Halloween
Lmao, thanks for having Rolfe here, love his reviews
Happy Halloween to Matt and all you UA-camrs out there!!
Stay safe, and remember to check your candy! 🎃🎃👻👻🔪🔪
Of course! Michael's one weakness was a lead pipe! It all makes sense now!
The Halloween cinematic universe would be so fucking cool. Having Paul Rudd and Busta Rhymes team up to bring down Rob Zombie Michael Myers
That tarantino pitch of the beginning of the movie sounded SO tarantino. I want to see that halloween
Halloween 14: Michael Myers Multiverse Madness
Well if any of those sequels or reboots James theorized have the subtitle “The Shape” then they’ll win my money
You should do one on The Collected 👀
Nothing beats Busta Rhymes taking on Michael in Halloween: Resurrection
Halloween 6 was definitely a great choice to cover, but I'd honestly love to see a video on Resurrection as well just to figure out what the heck was going on with Busta Rhymes and the whole internet livestream show plot. It's such a ridiculous movie, I want to know how any of it happened (Aside from the opening scene, I know that was Jamie Lee Curtis wanting out of the series again).
They basically had a different script, and slapped Halloween elements on it. That's about it.
Really it's far from being the most troubled production. Other films that had it rough during the filming where both Zombie's remakes as he clashed a LOT with the Weinsteins given just how controversial his choices were. I've read the leaked script and treatment. It's one of those times in which producers meddling in was for the better.
Zombie's Halloween 2's production was a fucking mess in particular; Zombie wanted to show it all on a documentary but the footage was lost, obviously by the Weinstein to avoid any sort of controversy.
It's nice seeing Cinemassacre as someone other than AVGN (don't get me wrong, I love AVGN)
Halloween 6 is good if you take the best of both cuts and put them together. There are fan edits out there but not an official release.
@@Rschr101 funny you mention that. I actually love Alien 3 and I would love a version that combined the theatrical and assembly cut.
I opened your video and full screened it without reading the entire title so the James Rolfe bit at the beginning genuinely did ruin the surprise I had created for myself hah!
Ah yes, something to wash the aftertaste of Halloween Kills down with
Great to see James in this
Nice collab with James 👍
