As a father of girls it’s so refreshing to see a young lady demonstrating something girls could do and enjoy other than just being pretty. My 13 year daughter is pretty badass with a recurve but she’s now entering a phase of “caring” what others think. She doesn’t think others will think archery is “cool” therefore she’s stepped away. Drives me batshit crazy. I tell her, do you know how awesome it is to be a beautiful, intelligent young lady who can also kick ass with the boys?!
Hi mate I would surgest doing like a weekend away with the bows and see if you can get that spark back with her and the bow I stopped shooting for about 5 years and it was the biggest mistake of my life if you have the space in your garden get your own a frame and boss so she can shoot when whenever she wants best of look and I hope she keeps shooting
My fiance is pregnant with our first, we are choosing to be surprised rather than know then gender before hand . . . A situation like the one you're describing here is one of my biggest concerns if we're blessed with a girl, because what do you do? Modern society and it's superficial values surround them during the formative years of brain development. It's on tv, it's on the internet, it's in every newspaper and magazine, the screen in her pocket that you finally gave in and got her because you're so worried about her safety you'd rather be able to verify she's safe at any time you want and just accept all the bad influence that a smart phone inevitably will mislead her with versus sitting not being able to contact here and verify she's safe and end up pacing your living room for hours with brief interruptions of reaching for the dial of your firearms locker only to realize your over reacting there's no need to go all Liam Nesson just yet, then pace some more until she finally walks through the door. And I'm not even going to comment on the fact that facebook, instagram, snapchat and the like, the social media that contains literally zero academic content, has created a generation of selfie taking narcissistic boys and girls who can't start a fire properly or tie a useable knot, can't sew their way out of a paper bag, read a map and use a compass, or heaven forbid read a damn analog watch accurately. How do you make learning and practicing these skills that are imperative to their independence and ability to rely on themselves seem cool to them in today's world? Honestly man I feel like I'm already failing as a dad somehow because I can't figure that out and my fiance's only in her second trimester.

Hello Jennifer, Thank you for submitting your footage of your amazing talents. Your passion, interest, and will to succeed and be the best in what you are doing is fantastic. You are an amazing lady and I wish there were more ladies like you, with an interest like you, in what you are doing. I wish you well in all you aim and strive for. With your approach, passion, drive, commitment, and interest, you deserve to do so well. Very best wishes from the UK, take care x.
My wife and I started shooting last year. We joined a club near by and go as much as we can. Still learning plenty, but it’s been ton of fun. Always looking for ways to improve so keep these tutorials going!
I still own, and use, a 150 year old English Yew bow here in the UK. It's a lot of effort to shoot, but the end result is worth it. My family were Archers way back in the 1300s, so English Yew bows and ash arrows with goose feathers are an ancient tradition. I'm getting a bit old for such a bow now, but my daughter and granddaughter are following along.
🙂 Good first tutorial video. Don't be afraid of doing longer ones (adult attention span is around 45 mns!), it's not Tiktok. Remember some of your viewers are not on the US of A. Every journey starts with one step, and everyone stumble once in a while, keep it up!🙂

I started shooting archery when I was about 5 on a homemade bow my dad gave me. He used to shoot competition with an English Longbow and used hickory arrows he made himself. I learned instinctive (no sights) with a 3 finger draw. It was a lot of fun and he always pushed the fundamentals of shooting. I’m now A LOT older and I have moved into the compounds, specifically an Oneida Eagle, which is about 25 years old that I use for hunting. I also have a Barnett Crossbow that I use when stalking and ground hunting. Also wanted to say you are one of the best trick shooters I’ve seen in a long long time. Love your videos and glad your doing these more in depth “how to” ones. Looking forward to what you have in store next.
Awesome Jennifer. I'm glad you're beginning to this kind of video. While I do like cross bows, I prefer recurve and long bow. Thank you again sweetheart.

I look forward to seeing you give a shooting lesson about recurve bows.i really would like to get a little better at mine😁
I hunt with a compound bow currently, & have much confidence in it, but am training to go back to a recurve, & plan to train instinctive due to having more difficulty getting the older eyes to focus on sight pins, & for low light conditions, focusing on the target, rather than aiming non instinctive seems the best direction for me, especially when I could shoot bugs with my BB gun as a kid, not using its useless sights & without realizing it, learned instinctive skills, both eyes open & focused on the impact spot. I’ve heard this transition is common, so figured I’d get a head start rather than fight it for years, as it gets even more difficult to see the pins. Got a ways to go, but feel the hand eye coordination will eventually realign & the groups get smaller.

Jennifer, you are awesome in bow shooting, love to see your skills, my question is, how you make arrow-tuning, without having an technical arrow rest or plunger on your bow? is there any videos to see it ?
In middle school years ago we were introduced to archery using 35lb bows and being the first in line I shot a near perfect bull's eye; I only missed the '9' by a half inch. Our P.E. teacher said I see you stair stepped your shots and hit the bull's eye on the 3rd try. I relied DO WHAT? It was then I moved aside and saw my very first shot was dead on.....and we all got a laugh out of that. 😅
I'd watch the audio, it really fades off at the end there! Otherwise a good video and I liked the whistle stop tour through the bow types. I shoot Olympic style myself which is a good deal heavier with the riser than the standard recurve take down but it's supposed to train the muscles to keep the bow steadier. I started off at 24, then went to 28, 34 and now shooting a comfortable 40. Kinda heavy for Olympic but I do this to work on my core as I hate lifting weights and I'll trade off the loss of accuracy for a flatter tummy. :D

Too many new archers fail to realize how far an arrow can go if it gets past their backstop. Flu Flu arrows can help, provided they have enough fletching. Jennifer; It's great to hear you reccomend the Samick Sage. That if the bow I think I will get. One for myself and one for my wife. I'm thinking to start her with 25lb limbs and myself with 35 lb. Then probably go up in 10 lb increments

Thats kool you gota griz i gota kodiak im pretty good at it but you are way way up there in the 1 % i still like my longbows i grew up on them longs.and im proud of ya.stay strong.
Great to have females getting into these kinds of things .That's feminism not hating men and trying to undermine them in favor of another gender .Equality of opportunity !
What he said! If the string only contacts the bow at the string groves it is a longbow even if the tips curve. many modern longbows have a "reflex" design incorporating tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is not strung, but pull back when the bow is strung so the string only touches the tips. Most also have "deflex" (curving toward the archer) near the handle. Check out "Reflex/deflex" longbows such as Black Widows PL series. Great video! Keep them coming.
String is touching the limbs, but good call out! The Root Target master has an interesting history (google it - I seriously find it awesome). My dads bow was a 1960-65 68” and 8 inch sight window Two inch limbs recurve. But his earlier bows before 1959 were longbows!

Só faltou você dá aquela mágica olhada para a câmera 📷! Mas é bom que não, pois a magia do seu olhar é muito forte e eu poderia me apaixonar 😍. Você é incrível no que você faz como Arqueira. Parabéns linda!
I'm 20 and very much interested in Archery since I was young but had to experience it in video games. Making my own money I wanna buy a now and arrow to start trying it personally, any tips on which how to start start (I'm sorta weak too and 5,6)
Thanks
ありがとうございます!
Your target master looks alot like my 57' Bear Kodiak special, it's a 69 inch recurve. Kind of a long bow recurve.
Good tutorial !!
can't wait to chapter 2
Very much needed
Have you read Al Hendersons books? He coached the US Archery team to gold in the Olympics.
Girl you are awesome
Happy birthday🎉🎉🎉
Thats kool you gota griz i gota kodiak im pretty good at it but you are way way up there in the 1 % i still like my longbows i grew up on them longs.and im proud of ya.stay strong.
Thankyou ma'am 😊
Great to have females getting into these kinds of things .That's feminism not hating men and trying to undermine them in favor of another gender .Equality of opportunity !
Your dad's bow may be a longbow. when you have it strung up, if the string is not touching the limbs, it would be considered a longbow
