Yeah, it was very difficult to see where the arrows landed. At a different sun angle it would have been easier, but often seemed to line right up with the shaft.
@@KF1 Also the contrast was cranked up so you couldn't discern between shades of black. Sun difussor is just a sheet of semi-transparent plastic, an inexpensive thing to fit on your targets. Photographers use them and it works like a charm.
@@RedRookChannel So it's just for broadcast. 3M has a series of light diffusing films sold in rolls with varying level of diffusion. The weakest diffusing ones are almost completely transparent. They shade the least, but soften the shadows enough for a camera to differentiate between an arrow and it's shadow. Here the problem was at it's extreme because the camera was pointed towards the sun which makes the problem worse. Nonetheless it's a recurring issue especially when you watch archery on mobile screens with high contrast.

Ideally they would have a camera with telescopic lens behind the shooting line , that makes a great shot and a lot of competitions do that but i guess it's easier to put a camera on the ground just in front of the target

I was curious about the distance to the target and found out it's 70 meters (229.6 feet). That's a really long distance and it's quite amazing how these women are able to land shots so consistently. I guess all those contraptions on the bow are aids to achieve high accuracy. Also, I wish the camera was showing another angle because the dark shadows from the bright sun makes it hard to figure out where the arrows hit. The winner (Maira) seems to be calmer or more "stoic" than Valentina, maybe it's a factor why she won over her teammate. I know nothing about archery but I figure mental composure also plays a big role and not just sheer skill (like tennis). BTW, did anyone notice the cute plushie on top of Maira's strap for the chest thingy? I wonder what creature that is, it looks like a whale. 🐳
I'm not an expert so correct me if I'm wrong but I think those contraptions you mentioned are for calibration purposes, we don"t want the players blaming their equipment for their loss
@@joelempania6385 guys the "contraptions" you're talking about are stabilizers, sights and a clicker. The point of the stabilizer (the long pole sticking out the front of the bow with 2 short prongs on the side) is to, well, stabilize bow shake and movement. The sight is used to aim better and the clicker is the little device that clicks right when the archer has drawn the arrow back exactly the length she does every time, telling the archer when to shoot - this helps with consistency. TL;DR all the contraptions are necessary when you're shooting from 70m and trying to hit a target the size of an apple. Barebow shooters (that shoot without said contraptions) also exist but there's no way they can hit targets at this range

It's not a problem when you shoot. you can't see the shaft because the arrow lands at eye level, you only see the back of the arrow and the shadow
