Hey Brian, you are welcome! I'm glad to help. It's great pump but the battery life is not very long if you have a large tank then better to order 2 of them so you can swap them when the battery gone flat
Thanks for this. I have one tank in a weird location to do water changes. Just ordered one just for that purpose. Thanks so much for this great informative video

Someone also commented that he had that issue too. I think some of them have kind of smart feature to switch off after a minute or so. Not good for what we are using for. Mine was cheapest i could find in Thailand and luckily didn’t have that function.

Hi Shrimp Mania! good to see you post new video again after vacation 😁. Could you make video about identifying shrimp dead and the cause? alot of newbie still think that when some shrimp leave their skin they tought it is dead😅 I think it will be a interesting video because I didn't found it on youtube yet
@@ShrimpMania I read/heard it from some people said that you can identify the problem, for example if the shrimp died upside down possibly because of overfeeding, or white ring because not enough mineral, is it true in your experience?
It's really hard to find out exact cause of death, sometime you can see if shrimp die from molting frailer. Normally shrimp die from stress and you don't see any obvious signs
@@ShrimpMania I have 3 10 gallon tanks so I just need to move about 3 gallons. The good news is I can actually plug in right underneath my tanks so if I need to fill a whole tank during a startup or do a larger change for any reason, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your continued help and advice. You inspired my changes and I am only a week or two out before adding shrimp to 2 of my cycling tanks. Keep the content coming!!!
I'm super glad to hear that I can help or inspire someone like you, this is the purpose of my videos and I'm happy to promote this hobby to another people
By the way - if you plug this pump to the charger after the battery drained completely it will only start to work in a few few seconds and then it stops again so basically you have to charge it for some time before start to use it again it will not work from the plug. It will be enough to change 10-15% of the water in one 10gallon tank, I guess they might have different quality and some can last longer. Mine only cost $2. For 3 tanks you better to buy at least 2 of them.
@@ShrimpMania Good to know, I was hoping if I kept hit plugged in the whole time I would get away with it, I guess we will see. I can always grab another one if needed. Its still an awesome idea!!
@@ShrimpMania So you do 10% each week no matter what. I'm only doing a 10% if the Nitrate is only above 10ppm, but I am about to buy my first set of $49.99 SS shrimp and I want to do what is best the the higher end Caridina I want to move to. Also going to setup your auto water change system from the other video, thought I'd need to wait years, but so much cheaper your way and the timer for the RO top off, Golden !!
Hey Artic, Yes I do 10% each week no matter what. I don't normally check nitrate very often but when I do it's always close to 0. We not only do water change to withdraw NO3 but also to resupply some minerals into the water. It's also train your shrimp for small changes in water parameters so if you sell them for example or move to another tank they will be already trained for sudden water changes and less likely to be stressed and die
@@ShrimpMania Sound very sound and wise, soon as the auto change system is setup, this will be pain free. I too will do this moving forward to much money on shrimp to even toy with the possibility of wasting even one. Thank you so much ! 👍
Great, informative video. I like the water change by pump but am wondering as it is a slow process what would happen if the pump was left to run dry - would it auto cut off when there is no water or if it remains running would the lack of water cause it damage? Have you come across this situation?
@@ShrimpMania Hi. Yeah, I got a pump to siphon water from floor level up to about 4 foot to the top of tank water level. I let it run dry but not for long and there is no damage to the pump. A word of warning though to anyone who may consider doing this is that if the pipe carrying water into the tank is below the water line it will then reverse flow with the water siphoning back again. This could be catastrophic. This would only happen if the pump cuts off because of running dry. I have my pipe above the water line of the tank so if it does run dry there will be no back flow.
These pumps are built for depensing from water-cooler type bottles, without a water cooler. I use those bottles to prepare my remineralized RO water and pump it directly out. Stupid convenient and better than buckets
