    I just picked up my order of worms! Amazingly healthy! The next day I order worm castings 😅! I absolutely love the quality of the casting!
    Moreover, it was great meeting Gaetano and seeing first hand his love for his worms and setup!

    Good morning, Gaetano, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
    I think those sifters are a great idea.
    It's like pan-sifting for Gold!!! Black Gold 🪱🪱🪱

    It is funny. I just received my 1/8" pan today. I sifted about 6 lb of casting. I was so exited ( my first harvest)! I waited two weeks before sifting. It seems worked pretty good. Great video as always.

    I use those same sifters. Did you know that they fit into a 5 g pail and then you just have to rock the pail while you sit down. They were designed for gold sifting

      Yes I know of course, I just prefere to sift in the the big tray, I found is faster.

    I find i lose too many cocoons with the 1/8. So i switched to 1/12. I have to let them dry a bit more but i save quit a bit of cocoons that way.

    • @northeastworms
      @northeastworms  2 роки тому +2

      I have 1/12 too but did not work very well for me because I don't have the time to wait that the bedding dry at the point to pass trough 1/12, but I always say: "have to work for you". Each of us need to find the sweet spot to work better and in the way that we are happy with what we are doing :)

    I am new to this could you pls tell me If we separate the castings and it has alot of cacoons can we keep it separately for it to hatch and then again sieve it revive the worms that hatched from the caccoons

    I have the 1/8th sifter, the exact one you have there in the video and it doesn't catch the cocoons. What size screen is perfect for catching the cocoons? Because I have ordered like 5 already from ebay and Amazon and the sellers are lying about the screen size. So it's set me back quite alot. Can I get just a simple answer on what screen size will catch the cocoons but sift the Castings ?

    • @northeastworms
      @northeastworms  8 місяців тому +1

      1/8 is the perfect size. We use 1/8 also on our big commercial trommel. Sometimes, some smaller cocoons can pass through, but 99% will be catches

    How much should the moisture approximately be?

    • @northeastworms

    • @northeastworms
      @northeastworms  2 роки тому

      @@HH-zb8yx not really, usually I don't like that the bedding with cocoons dry to much, cocoons needs moisture to survive, you do not want they dry

    Grazie Gaetano. È lo stesso mio procedimento, ma vedo che hai lo stesso problema, il materiale deve asciugare parecchio per passare il setaccio piccolo.
    Io uso un cestino della carta metallico che faccio ruotare poggiandolo su una base con ruote motorizzate da un trapano avvitatore.
    Ho preso spunto dai miscelatori dei barattoli del colore che usano i pittori, e me lo sono costruito. Si fatica meno 😄
