I read the chapter about her in my book and I was so excited to listen her way of expressing music. Wow such a great inspiration for people may God bless her❤️❤️❤️
when I saw the channel I thought that Glennie personally owns the channel ... and I was so glad .....we have a lesson in English about her, how she dicovered her growing deafness, percussionist Forbes , her achievements .....
Comments She is deaf?: 3% people She is amazing!!:5% people I came from beehive chapter 2 PART 1!:92% people She is truly amazing! I can't believe she is deaf. She is so passionate towards music. I can feel it as I love music wholeheartedly. And also, I came from the beehive chapter 2 PART 1 too..
She is profoundly deaf. She hears with her fingers and her body. And yes, you can experience music just with tactile information. Miracle of your brain :)
In our book of English there are on chapter whose name is the sound of music in which there is describe about evelyn glannie In real she plays perfectly all the musical instruments Keep it up
Amazing .. You are really great woman Evelyn mam .. You have motivated us ... Watchers do you know that even after she become hard of hearing .. She learnt Japenese and French language .. How you managed it 😊you are great!!!!... We all are motivated
(the comment above isn't to be taken to literal) but, because she's so amazing and normally to create music on that level you must be able to hear and feel it. She manages to only feel it and does an incredible job doing do.
Broke 3 mallets learning this piece. Solid challenge and interesting expressive opportunities. A classic in the advanced repertoire. Fabulous performance by Dame Evelyn. Excellent agitato on the half step intervals
Evelyn, your music is incredible. I couldn't believe anyone could make music like you do when they can't hear (at least not with their ears). I found out today that I will be profoundly deaf by age fourteen or fifteen. If you could, do you have any tips for me? I love music and don't want to lose it...
For all the people talking about her grip she plays Trad. A grip most American percussionist have never heard of. Side note The grip is not called "Steven's" It is called Musser since he was the man who created the grip. Stevens himself calls the grip modified Musser Grip(which is it's correct name). Musser grip is actually the least common grip too. (;
1. Stevens'... Leigh's last name is Stevens not Steven 2. Evelyn uses a variation on Burton grip. The main anchor is on her pinky finger. It's her personal grip that fits her needs and hands 3. American percussionists study all of the grips and can also clearly tell when someone is using Burton or Traditional Cross grip 4. It is commonly accepted around the world to call it Stevens' grip. Leigh refers to the grip as such because he doesn't want to seem ungrateful. Fact is, the grip used now is completely different from the original Musser... so it was given a more appropriate name by the percussion community 5. Side note: You would know most of this if you picked up "Method of Movement" and read it ......... (;
The grip commonly referred to as "traditional" is the grip Keiko Abe is known for, its hallmark being the inside mallet (mallets 2&3) are on top of the cross. "Burton" grip features the outside mallet (mallets 1 & 4) on top, which is what Glennie uses (which is interesting since I believe much of her formative marimba training was with Keiko Abe). The grip referred to as "Stevens" is distinct from "Musser" grip, I can't remember how exactly but I know he talks about the difference in the intro to "Method of Movement". LH Stevens has gone on record saying he thinks it's silly name the grip after him, but it's too late for that now :P
Nope. He prefers his grip to be called "Steven's Technique." I've been to a few of his seminars, and he specifically asks that you never refer to his grip as a "grip," but more as a technique.
I have to find a perfesional who plays my insturmant for band, and I think my director will be happy with this. Also, sorry that I can't spell rn, I'm too tired to care
