The Infernal Devices series is much better than The mortal Instruments in my opinion. There were only 3 books in TID but it's the quality not the quantity. Clockwork Princess destroyed me
If you want to find out how Jem finally got out of being a Silent Brother, read The Mortal Instruments series (If you haven't already, I don't know yet but I'll check). It is all explained in the last book. And if you haven't read it yet, The Mortal Instruments was the original story written by Cassandra Clare in the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and it takes place in 2007, finishing in 2008. The Infernal Devices is about the ancestors of some of the main characters in The Mortal Instruments, and Cassandra started writing that series about halfway through the Mortal Instruments (its a six book series, in case you didn't know), and finished before the last book of The Mortal Instruments came out. I highly suggest you read the series if you enjoyed The Infernal Devices and if you want to understand more about the epilogue in Clockwork Princess.
Great review, Priscilla! :) I loved this book so much, but it was really painful to read. You don't even know how much I cried. The fact the conflict with Mortmain wasn't as extraordinary as it could be was an issue to me as well, but basically what bothered me more was Jem's fate. I loved the epilogue and I think it was really sweet, managing to tie everything up in an amazing way, but I just can't help feeling Jem was the one who made more sacrifices and bigger ones. It wasn't fair. :(
no i thought Clockwork Princess was just perfect enough. Also you got to remember this book is set in the times of great romanticism and i dont mind at all that the relationships, and personal struggles everyone had were put on the forefront because i think thats what makes this series so special, specially the relationship and bond Jem and Will have.
I read in several sites that people considered Will and Jem kind of like soul mates and that's why they were so connected. But I agree more with you about them being a single soul divided in two bodies (I don't care how corny it sounds). And I think that Tessa was their soulmate so that's why it would have made sense for her to either end up with Will or Jem (or both, as it was the case). I usually don't like love triangles, because I want the character to end up with one of them and I feel like the other is just a burden, but this one was so intense and so well-portrayed that I couldn't help but love it. Yeah when I first read it I was like "what? How did Jem stopped being a Silent Brother?", good thing CC explained it all in CoHF. It was a shame that Mortmain was kind of casted aside in this book, he was a great antagonist (The greater presence of the antagonist is actually one of the few things I like more about TMI than TID). The maturity of the characters in TDI is something that I really enjoyed, they are young but act very adult-like (with their obvious sparks of humor). The only thing that I found extremely awkward was the sex scene, they were about to die and Mortmain could walk in any minute but they just decided to get things going (after barely finding out that their parabatai/fiancé had "died"). I get that they thought they were going to die and wanted to spend their last night together but still it seemed a bit off to me. And yeah I'm a baby and cried non-stop since Jem appeared as Brother Zachariah until the end of the epilogue.
Jem quit being a Silent Brother has explained in the last TMI book. :D I read that first and I didn't really understand the epilogue in that book (the Tessa and Jem part i mean), but after reading TID everything has just came together. :)
I finished it yesterday for the first time. At school I started crying because I was reminded of Will. That book destroyed me, I have never cried so much in a book. But it was also comical and made my heart happy while also tearing it apart. Probably my favorite Cassie Clare book!
I loved it so much! It was comical, lovely, beautiful, and heartbreaking. And made me cry so much I didn't know if I had any tears left. My favorite Cassie Clare book so far! :)
SPOILERS!!!!! I think I would have been more upset when Will died had he been my favourite instead of Jem...Because when I thought Jem was dead I was hysterical D:
Great review! I agree with you about the whole affair with mortmain, the big finale was anticlimactic to me. It was too 'let's wave our magic wand and the bad will disappear!'-y. I don't know what to feel about how Tessa got with Jem as well in the end, not when I first read the book in April, nor now.
i mostly agree with you on everything! though I also can't remember everything because I read it way back in march when it came out lol not sure if the ending was too perfect, but hey, I guess everybody got what they wanted wether you shipped Tessa/Will or Tessa/Jem! But I love how Tessa is still alive and sometimes meeting up with Magnus (fave character? probably :P) and maybe we'll see her in the next sequel of City of Bones? who knows? :D
TID DEFINITELY elaborated on what parabatai means! And it has inspired me to ask my bff to be my parabatai. And we have memorized the oath, and will get a tattoo soon!
I totally agree with you! I was expecting so much more fighting and all and everything seemed too easy... overall I really enjoyed the series, Clockwork Princess was my favorite :)
i wish i hadnt went through this serie by audiobooks because i didnt enjoy it has much as most people but I loved the mortal instruments so maybe i should buy the actual books.
Ah I loved this book so much, I think it's my favourite book that I've read in 2013 and I read it the day it came out, I just loved it so much! It made me full-on sob in a number of places (the EPILOGUE!) but I just loved it so much, I think Will Herondale will always be the fictional love of my life! I wish she'd gone into more detail with Bridget, she was just there being really annoying with her singing and then she turns into this badass, and I was just like "where'd that come from???"
I agree with you! The fact that everyone got off with a happy ending did irk me a bit. I wished it had focused more on the issue with Mortmain, but alas, I feel as though this book was nothing but a fanservice to those who wanted an angsty love triangle.
I also felt that the fight with mortmain was definitely put on the back burner. I was like WHAT!?? that's all?? But, in the end I was a little more obsessed with the love triangle so it was ok. And the ending omg, so sad and yet so happy. I'm not going to lie I cried like a baby.
Oh boy. I really liked that it was too perfect, because I didn't think it was going to be that way at all, it surprised me, I COULDN'T HAVE HANDLED IT ANY OTHER WAY, like seriously I CRIED so much with this one and the ending wasn't even that bad. So yes I LOVED IT, and thought it was a GREATGREAT ending, TID is in my top 3 fave series of all time. I did mind a bit about how the action/Mortmain took a backseat, which happened in CP too, but I was here for the characters so yeah.
I actually liked this series a whole lot more than I thought I would. And even though I really enjoyed it, I have to agree with you in that it was way too perfect. As heartbreaking as Jem's death was, it gave the book a more realistic feel, at least in my opinion. So when he came back (even though I was happy) I was still kinda like "...wut."
I felt a lot of what you did in Clockwork Prince already. The whole book felt it was only about the love triangle and not the story with Mortmain. And unlike you I'm fed up with love triangles. I really felt Jem was a flat backstabbing bastard from the beginning. I can live with the make-everyone-happy ending, but it was well done. Overall I really liked Clockwork Princess, it had so many great scenes in it, and Tessa was so much stronger and wittier again, liked that!
Just started the video, but based off the title, I cried like a BABY in the epilogue. Uhh!! Sooo good! My friends were concerned when they walked in on me. Then told me to stop being a nerd. Lol But I think they're intrigued to read as well!!! And I'm forcing them.
I'd like it better if in the epilogue it was just Tessa reflecting back on her life with Will and after his death. And no Jem. I like him, but the ending was just too convenient. Also, what the hell has she been doing with her life after Will's death? It would be a reminiscent epilogue and maybe promising something ahead in life for Tessa, with some hope.
I thought how they killed Mortmain was so easy. Cassandra Clare tends to create these villains who are extremely hard to kill, but then their death becomes anti-climatic.
I have to disagree that the ending wasn't perfect AT ALL and I cried myself to sleep that night... I am just so so so team Will that the fact that Jem came back upset me. I Mean I love Jem don't get me wrong I mean not as much as Will but, still I had let him go which was sad but I was okay with him dying. To me that last few pages of a book are important and since I am team will the fact that she was with Jem just didn't settle well with me especially since I was so emotional in that moment from Will I got really angry. Yeah if your reading this comment you probably think I am insane that I was okay with Jem dying, the truth is, I just LOVE LOVE Will... Yeah I will stop now... 😑😫 #unfair # teamwill #wessa
Cait Hurlee Eventhough I am more of team Jem, I also didn't like the ending. I was hysterically crying after reading about Will's death. I think Cadsandras going to release a new shadowhunter series that I'd going to be released in 2019😧 that takes place in 1900s so I think that it will have William in it. We could look forward to that
The Infernal Devices series is much better than The mortal Instruments in my opinion. There were only 3 books in TID but it's the quality not the quantity. Clockwork Princess destroyed me
I have never cried so much for a book! It was beautiful!

This was the first book I cried in
This is the only love triangle I have ever enjoyed and I loved both of them! That epilogue.... Was so perfect :)
Great review, Priscilla! :)

I love the book, I love the trio and the other Shadowhunters but...
WHAT HAPPENED TO BRIDGET?! I just really love her.
Love the cover of the book! I'm currently reading the Mortal Instruments series, might get to Infernal Devices later on.
Love your Luna glasses!
Have you read The angel experiment by James Patterson, if you haven't then I highly recommend you read them
Cassie did that with TMI too. Both characters get killed very quickly by Angels, whic bugged me just a bit
I actually drowned in my tears
Your review came out the same day I finished the book :)
Great review, as per usual.
Good Review as always. Can't wait for the October Book Haul.

I think the Silent Brother thing will be explained in the last book of the Mortal Instrument series..
Just started to read the series so excited!
I totally agree with you! I was expecting so much more fighting and all and everything seemed too easy... overall I really enjoyed the series, Clockwork Princess was my favorite :)
I loved your review! First ever video I did on my channel was a Clockwork Princess review :-)
He's not selfless! If you want to see me rant about this watch my video about the first two books in the series. I got a little carried away ;)
Your reviews are always amazing.. Can't wait for the next haul!
i wish i hadnt went through this serie by audiobooks because i didnt enjoy it has much as most people but I loved the mortal instruments so maybe i should buy the actual books.
Even months on, I don't think I'm over Will in the epilogue. TEARS MAN
Although this has nothing to do with clockwork princess, you should read the books of Khaled Hosseini (if you haven't), amazing books! :)
'We're reading it for the love. #truth' haha you took the words out of my mouth ;)
What kind of camera do you use?
I always love your book reviews! Your amazing! =D

Is jem immortal ?
You have to read city of heavenly fire if u want to know how he could be human again!!!
I also felt that the fight with mortmain was definitely put on the back burner. I was like WHAT!?? that's all?? But, in the end I was a little more obsessed with the love triangle so it was ok. And the ending omg, so sad and yet so happy. I'm not going to lie I cried like a baby.

I gave 5 stars. The ENDING!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!! Took me by mad surprise!! I stopped reading and just screamed into my hands, saying "What?!"
Just started the video, but based off the title, I cried like a BABY in the epilogue. Uhh!! Sooo good! My friends were concerned when they walked in on me. Then told me to stop being a nerd. Lol But I think they're intrigued to read as well!!! And I'm forcing them.
We will find out what happened to Jem returning to human in COHF
sounds good!
youre welcome and i love ur videos
I cried more reading Clockwork Princess than I did while reading The Fault In Our Stars omg
Amazing review ! But I think it deserves more than 3.5 stars.
