"The Bweh gets the Bweak," Quote of the match!
I about died laughing!!!!!
Tennis is not only about winning or losing, it's also about friendship. That's why I like your channel, a group friends having fun around tennis sport, with a great respect for each other.
Additional suggestion: I would like to see a more detailed introduction of players like a window with name, age, height, NTRP, record on ET,...
We'll talk about that!
This is way more fun than watching most of Roland Garros. I actually sprayed coffee across the breakfast table. Great play and brilliant commentary. Well done all of you.
True, it's so relatable as compared to the ATP/WTA!!!!
BWEH
BWEH!🔥
BWEH🧨🧨
A match vs Ira! Make it happen…Mark vs Ira
Is that Rublev’s grunt? I’ll have to pay closer attention next time I see him play
I AM NOW A DEVOUT FOLLOWER OF THE POWER OF BWEH
The "you gotta change up the grunt" section had me rolling. I played it back ten times and it only got funnier. Great tennis. Great entertainment.
I just love when the commentators start laughing which is usually their reaction to an amazing shot. Mike has some very nice technique and Mark has a lot of heart and a handsome backhand. Excellent match.
Thanks for watching, Prisca!
I really appreciated Mike's insight and analysis of the game. It often feels like players on this try to be entertaining more than talking us through their current mindset.
I appreciate it Zac!! I was just trying to be as authentic as possible for you guys👍
Dude, when Mike decided to become AKM and channel that focus he remembered and could visualize, that was powerful and he looked so solid after that point, that was a lesson in visualization and focus!
#AKM visualize and attack like the waterboy lol
Any chance you can arrange a match between Brady Hiete (Daily Tennis Lesson) and Nikola Aracic (Intuitive Tennis)?
😮
It will definitely be epic!
@Essential tennis i’ll do one better. How about Nikola Aracic vs Karue Sell (MyTennisHQ) ;)
Or Ryan from 2 minute tennis
@@stevehan8157 I don’t believe that Ryan has played competitively for a while.
You guys should try to do a tournament with all the players we have seen throughout these match plays. It would be pretty epic . 👍
Some day!
My favorite part of these videos are the commentary and Ian’s expressions!
Mark appears to be too tense trying to muscle the ball which robs you of power and control. Important to remain loose in grip , arm & body so the kinetic chain can work properly, try it practice and you'll notice more power and precision
It's true. We've all seen Mark lot's of times - he's outgunned in this matchup because Mike is a physical freak for tennis so that part won't change. Mark has to relax, and work on 'fast feet - loose hands' control court position better, and find combinations that frustrate Mike. A very high level MEP maybe, something.
He had 2 choices: step up like he did or push like The Creature.
Glad he stepped up. Ben's style is boring
Totally agreed. You can’t swing harder at a faster serve. Mark was clearly affected by Mike’s superior control of rallies and his ability to absorb his best shots
Congratulations and thank you to both Mark and Mike for putting on an exciting performance. That really was some "big boy" tennis
13:53 Mark’s serve might have actually been in...btw awesome elmer fudd impersonation hahahha
Mark didn’t think so either. Bad time for that double fault.
David Vs Goliath...have to respect both for different qualities. Great match gentlemen. ET, Ian and Scott...more awesomeness delivered. Cheers.
There's so much to appreciate about Mike's game...big serve, footwork, heavy groundstrokes. Back to the drawing board for Mark "Shriekapova" Sansait.
Thank you Chad😎
Time for a Mike vs. Ira match - two similar styles - AKM with the freaking bomb serve and sick kicker. Should be fun.
If people want to see it
.... I mean it may be time to resurface 👀
🤔👍
What an idea!
Yes please, I want to see it.
What stood out to me was that Mark played his shots mostly within two feet of center, while Mike played his shots within a foot of the sides, keeping Mark running. Amazing placement with the power is a TOUGH combo to beat. Nicely played both sides!
That "small" detail is actually huge. It dictates play
I have been trying to work on that. Love the assessment 👍
Great matchup. Yes, the result was predictable in Mike's favor (see past videos), but man was it good to watch. Kudos to Ian and E.T. for putting on such good content. I actually learn more about playing matches and strategies from this than I do watching pro tennis. E.T. has enough players from 4.0-5.0 that the opportunity to learn will be inexhaustible. Thanks for keeping it lively Ian and Scott.
I used to not care much for doubles, but I look forward to the next time you host a doubles match. I am sure it will be awesome. Thanks guys!
Appreciate your support very much, Charles!
Really like the intensity and talking Mike is doing!
Thank you. I appreciate that:) I understand it's not for everyone
Excellent match. That was some high quality tennis.
Mike’s “big serve, big boy” was a nice head game shot…
😬
Hats off to both players for an excellent match. Mike certainly deserves his shine but tennis aside, the presence and graciousness of Mark's post match comments deserves more recognition. Such a class act in victory or defeat, I don't care what you think of him-- there is no denying he is an asset to the ETU. Job well done.
It felt like 4.75 vs 5.25 in my opinion. Great to watch.
The biggest difference was the quality of serving by Mike and his consistent play.
Both were big!
Appreciate it Ken👍
Ian, can you do a video on the legitimacy of grunting? There have been studies supporting that it helps players hit harder by stabilizing the core, helping relax through the shot, etc. There is stigma and even legitimate questions about if grunting is within the rules, though.
Yeah, I think that cat is out of the bag, unfortunately. I guess it’s too subjective as to when grunting becomes a hindrance so they don’t enforce it at all, but they have when a player celebrates a great shot before the point is over.
Mikey trice, mikey trice, Mikey trice!!! I'm such a fan of u and Cole. God bless all players of essential tennis

Mark slightly improved all his serve stats from the first set as well as return minimally. But it was the ability to just stay in the rallies more this set that made it slightly more competitive, over doubling the points he won, from 11 to 23. Mike somehow, served even better this set, except 2nd serve, but that doesn't really matter with such high 1st serve percentages. His return win % did drop though, from 64.7 to 50%. Still a fantastic win %, but showing Mark's slight improvement on serve. The only other notable thing is Mike's net points won, winning only 2/6. Mark did better at applying pressure and keeping the ball lower when Mike approached the net.
Awesome stuff!
after getting broken mike stepped up to another level. Crazy solid, fast backhands with great net clearance. Not to mention the bombs on serve
Appreciate it Nico👍
These are such a joy to watch. While the players are still a level or two above me, its still much more relatable than watching pro tennis. And the player commentary on changeovers is good insight into how recreational players should approach the mental part of tennis.
Mike's timing on the backhand side is impeccable. He picked so many clean on the short hop. He said 220 lbs gets you easy power and it does; maybe it should also mean you see a lot of drop shots? Get him out of the pattern of just dictating with power from the center of the court. Even a poor drop shot changes that rythmn and makes him run, and a good one wins you the point. Otherwise I thought Mark did everything he could & if he had held at 3-1 we might've had a 3rd set. Another great match and video!
Thanks for your thoughts, Goalie!
Backhand is my most reliable shot. It's my shield 👍
When he started the Bweh I lost it 🤣
Love the matches!! Thanks so much
nice fighting mike !!!.............nice placement of the serve!!
"Come on, baby, YEAH!" -Mike is a very enthusiastic competitor.
Hell yea!!!
Mike is a beast! Just completely overpowered Mark, great match as always, Thank you Ian and crew
Appreciate it Bobby👍
Great match, super high level second set. Good idea for more detailed intros.
Great match, guys. It deserves a good limerick, but I am drawing a blank trying to figure out what rhymes with Bweh! Thank you, everyone at ET. Great commentating Scott and Ian.
Great match. It is tough to beat someone who serves so well.
220?!
Dudes freakin athletic to overcome that.
Especially at this level. He could drop 20 and still be a smidge on the high side.
Couple times in my life I was 20 over. 200 vs 180. Man u can feel it out there.
Yea man thank you. That's my goal is to drop 20 more pounds. I was almost 235 when I played cole.

@@michaeltreis9751 Hey you should play clever again after you're back to 200. I'd pay to watch that
@@yougood809 do you mean cole lol?? Who is this clever...
@@michaeltreis9751 Hoping to see you on the channel again sometime!
I love this shows
Thank you!
Great game. Good job Mike, Mark and the essential tennis crew. An extra video just for the interview seems a bit redundant imo..
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
mike is clearly the stronger player. either mike had to suffer a bad day, or mark had to take more risks and get the winners going early to stand a chance.
Bweh-Man needs a higher toss. A MUCH higher toss. :)
How about another Cole vs Mike rematch? The bweh was phenomenal btw
I don't know, I don't like the bweh. It's done solely to distract the opponent. Seems like gamesmanship to me.
Maybe soon!
@@wilsoch if they weren’t friends I would definitely agree with you, I think they were just being entertaining
Love it😎
The Score from the first set doesn't tell the story of the high quality tennis that was played. Intense match, and great composer from both sides
I'm seeing some REAL Black Belt Tennis stroking going on! Kinda reminds me of my OWN game! Getting jacked up because I'm following those karate guys' advice...(1) PUNCHING the ball while at the net, and (2) SWINGING TIGHT with the racket, rather than from way out over my neck!
Marks high serve toss hurts me. Not only did he hit a bunch of double faults, his lower first serve percentage meant mike was getting a lot of chances to dictate off a second serve (likely encouraging mark to go bigger on second and miss some). Though mark for a couple aces and free points on first serve.
Mike was right mark should target mikes forehand more. And others were right Moving mike north and south with higher heavier deep balls and some shorter angles and drop shots could have elections some fitness advantage for mark. (Though If mike is recently down 15lbs or more mikes got strong muscles on the lighter body.). Mark needed a few more longer points to exploit the fitness difference.
Great tennis match, keep it up guys!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Simon!
Mark literally like always hits on his backfoot for no reason.
I think you are right about this and probably the biggest problem I see with his game. He is solid in so many ways that I think he'd win a lot more matches if he just changed that. He very consistently moves up to about 3 feet behind the baseline between rally shots, then retreats to about 6 feet or more behind the baseline even when the ball is bouncing just past mid court on his side. He rarely steps into the court or even stays at the baseline. Sure, sometimes its just not possible and Mike obviously has a quality game, but there were definitely a lot of times when Mark was retreating for no apparent reason on routine rally shots.
Noticed that as well..
@@maxxvelox2852 I think Mark needs to develop a volley game. He is content staying back all the time and it's only a matter of time before he hits his forehand into the net or beyond the service line.
Scott: "Bweh-k" is trademarked. Don't try to use it.
Mike Tyson has entered the chat
Mike is rock solid. Don't recall there's a shot you had to hit off balance in the entire match. Enjoyed watching your two handed backhand, taking it on the rise with solid clean contact even when Mark threw at you decent topspin with depth
We shouldn't ignore the impact of that court. Imagine these two players on an European clay court. I'd bet on Mark any day. Mike's serve is such a weapon on this court. Returning that serve on clay would be much easier for Mark and so it would have been a different match when Mike had to face more resistance in his serve games.
Regardless, great level and great competing of Mark versus such a good offensive player.
That would be interesting to watch!
Possible rematch on his channel....
I could watch this shit alllllll day. Great content fellas.
Is anyone else wondering why more people don’t use a cutting slice serve on this court. It’s a quick court, feel like the average USTA 4.5 tennis doesn’t have the serve volley option in their locker. This is obviously just a small sample of tennis but I rarely see it. Whereas in the UK I see it popped into a game and I recently did it to a lad on a clay court
Mark is going to have to come up with another game strategy if he’s going to beat Mike in the future. #AKM brought the 🔥 A very enjoyable match!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonder how much of a diff if he didn't double fault as much as he did. That was huge here. Generally it's a few little things but this was one big thing
Someone said it already, but Mark's shots are too centrally located (middle third of the court). Mike was grooving off of Mark's shots like it was a ball machine session. There really was no variation, at all. Even Mark's slice floated, count to one-two-three, step and hit. It was like clockwork. Hit deep/hard to the middle-third, hit deep/hard to the middle-third, slice deep to the middle-third. That definitely ain't going to get it done. Mike is way too good to simply hit hard to the middle-third and expect him to miss. There was also no strategy change from Mark from the first to the second set. It was the same thing.
Given Mike's size, I think a better approach would have been to mix in dropshots as well as short-angled low pace balls. Get Mike out of that baseline middle-third position. That would have forced Mike to constantly move forward, hit up on the ball, maybe hit some slices, and take pace off in order to keep the ball in play. Mike was WAY too comfortable.
I think a big part in beating Mike probably rests in forcing him to go north-south at least half the time. Instead of 95% east-west.
As a fellow husky boy, Loving this big boy tennis. Mike’s serves were out of control.
💪
I'm not an expert but it looks to me that Mike is getting better timing on his groundstrokes and pushing his momentum through the ball whilst Mark looked on the back foot rather and a lot of his momentum on his strokes appeared to be upwards rather than forwards and he actually moved backwards on some of his strokes. Maybe Mike has a flatter style which suits this surface better?
Great videos! Keep em coming! Can I ask what that intro music is? I wanna blast it when I train.
19:27 tree racquet symbol my ass. Mark ur hilarious
6 ft 2 in. 220. Thats a big dude....
The grunts are horrible lol 🙉
What are both of your utr ratings? Great match!
Mark is such a good youtuber
Love this channel, but are you sure the serve speeds are accurate? These don't look like 120mph serves, thats tour level speed
Hand off the tiger nest?
So is this where the behew started?
hey Ian, any chance you could record at 60fps or higher? That would help for those close calls.
We've done it a few times before, but we can't while live streaming. This match was live streamed
@@EssentialTennis ah, ok... thanks for replying!
15:50 not sure which shot Mark is talking about-both the serve and the volley were well inside. Perhaps another tactic....
16:09 125 mph serve, woooow
My opinion: Mike is very consistent have perfect technique in most of strokes. Maybe a little stiff at the net.
Mark have to work on technique, in the forehand he arch his back and lose a lot of power by not doing the weight transfer and this looks also at the serve, but the ball kicks so I dont think thats a big problem, in the backhand he has no top spin coming out cause the movement is stoped in front and not continuous. At the slice if he holds his wrist he can have better results. However is notable what this two do on the courts . Great game
Mark can hit big but not as big as Mike so trying to play Mike's game is a losing proposition. Mark needed to hit more junk and make Mike move around. But, great fun to watch, both of these guys would kick my butt.
Why does Mike not play with the clash anymore?
More Bweh. It has power indeed.
Can Mark see over the net?
is Mark pinoy ?
Mark got amped up grunt and all but he also increased his tempo probably redlined = erratic service after the break, his timing was definitely off.
Can I drive up from Chicago and play one of you lol a 3.0 vs 4.5 😅
Have you, Mark, tried taking the ball earlier in order to take away time from Mike since he's got a lot of mass to move around?
all up in mike's jock though. could try to be less biased
I feel like I have heard the commentary before. If you give Mark a chance at volley he will find a way to get there. The no offense to Mark from Scott then the no offense to Mike from Ian. Feels like I have heard these lines before this video as well.
Can someone please tell me if they remember something or I am just having hallucinations
I got it. This is the edited version of the match that was livestreamed. Man my memory sucks.
mike was much more confident in this match. would like to see him rematch cole
big hook by mike at 2.00
Do you know the bweh?
The spirit of Andrey Rublev is alive
Marks toss on serve is too high imo ... waiting too long when he loads.. so timing can be difficult. Vs Mike's serve toss is much lower and swing is more fluid without a break in-between.
Mike trice, how’s it going
I can't say I am a big fan of all the yelling, but other than that high quality match.
Your not grunting that’s why it didn’t go in!😂😂😂
eventually mark is going to start making those sick half volleys enough to stop calling it a tree
That one handed backhand can't withstand the pressure
Mark channeling Rublev- who lost in the 1st round of the French
Can we get Ira vs Scott/Mike/Mark
I like Ira’s game and Mike’s
Both offensive
Ira just wants to truck forehands 👍🏻
Mike is offensive and comes to net when open 👍🏻
I’m a lesser version of both 😆
Am I going crazy or have I seen this video before... Mad deja vu here man
If your opponent shows up with a nice racket that has the company logo on the strings - you know you're in trouble.
The real question is how many times did mark change his grunt
Great grunt variety in this match.
Entertaining match. I’m somewhat torn though, I really like Mikes game but I hate his in match personality. A bit much. But fantastic tennis player for sure. Hopefully this encourages Mark though, hung tough with a solid 5.0
Great match. Mike was just too good. Love his style. his cool with the change of grunts coming from Mark. I think a ref would have given a warning for that. Also have seen the nationals match with the warning. Honestly as a viewer it annoyed me. Trolling as Scott called, not a fan. I rather loose without making myself look like an ass over nothing. It only costed Mike one break for he blocked it out. I don't see a guy trying to win, I saw guy reacting like a child who knows he is losing a game of tennis. Mike had the true winners mentality to day. The true master will exploit that weakness of Mark not enough controlling his emotions.
Thanks for your thoughts, at rem
Appreciate the shout out 👍
wish they would give warnings on the ATP tour, it's getting ridiculous. Not a fan of the come on & whats either I like it old school when it was more respectful.I have played matches where my opponent even resorted to trash talking in between points.I'm ok with my opponent having a meltdown and breaking his racquet though then I know I got em rattled.
