Well Button's race was incredible; but Webber, Schumacher, Massa and Kobyashi also had thoroughly engaging races. Schumacher's double overtake in particular was a thing of beauty. That's why this race is such a classic; so many drivers shined with so much great racing through the whole field.

Kobayashi was not underrated in an F1 car. He podiumed only 1 time for 3rd place. In F1 he was awful at overtaking and often crashed because of his poor judgement. His F1 career was as short as it was because he was a constant liability.
Damn, the 2011 cars looked so beautiful. Probably the best in the skinny F1 era. Also of not for the track drying out, schumi could have gotten a podium. Really the rainmeister never disappoints in these conditions.
They're certainly prettier than the stepped-nose F1 design from 2012. I prefer the completely flat nose, way more attractive! I'd probably say 2011 and before for F1 car looks, albeit, there have been great looking cars in the modern F1 era.
Michael Schumacher was just on it in this race, he was Schuperb. It was a Classic The Michael Performance, wish it kept raining. Michael deserved a podium in this Grand Prix. Keep Fighting Michael.
Considering the stage of development that mercedes was at compared to mclaren and redbull it just shows how schumacher was on another level compared to the rest.
Why do you say everything went wrong for him? Vettel was on the same compound as Button in the last stint, and on fresher tires...he had every chance to win the race and before that things were going just fine for him other than his leads getting eliminated he was always on the right strategy and leading comfortably.

My greatest childhood memories, and it seems that action like that is back in this year, certainly what I saw in Imola. So Canada 2011, Brazil 2012 and now Imola 2021 are my favourite races of all time. Also I think the best in the past 10 years

I've been a hardcore F1 fan since 1992/1993 and have attended many a Grand Prix live since and I rate this as the best Grand Prix since at least 1990, it has everything. Rain, controversial on track incidents, the hours of delay between parts one and two, the thrill of watching Jenson carve the field, seeing Schumi remind us how good he is, the position changes on the last lap and even the comedy moments of a marshall falling over to collect broken debris... You can't help but not be captivated.

If it rained a bit more, if the track didn't dry that quickly, Schumacher would be the winner for sure. That year's Merc was an awful car and his talent made him stand out in the rain. What a shame :c
Such an exciting race i remember watching it live on the TV and not for one moment was i calm constantly on the edge of my seat you don't get moments like this in Formula 1 nowadays.
What made this race so fantastic is that we had such a long break with the red flag, we thought it would not get restarted. I was there in the FREEZING rain for 2 hours and we stayed even tho we were beginning to doubt it would even restart. Well that made it all the more sweeter to stay till the end and living one of the greatest race ever! It was our reward for staying at our seats although I couldn't even feel my fingers at the time xD. It must have been different for those who watched on tv but actually being there made you realize how special that race was.
Have you ever seen Monza 1971? At least that's the best F1 race I've seen in 50 years following the sport. This one, although, surely qualifies top five.

This race perfectly summarises, no matter how things have had gone badly for you in life if you believe in yourself you are still gonna come out at the top.
Martin is a phenomenal colour commentator, however 2011 showed he wasn't suited to the lead role. You need that 'Crofty like' voice to project when something big happens. You can hear Martin basically straining his voice at points.
One of the finest races in F1 History. Days like these are why there shouldn't be a time limit to finish a GP and also DRS should be allowed in the wet.
Think would have been unlikely as was behind schumi at the time think P5 would have been the max which is where petrov finished. Was a good drive until that incident.
