How to Declutter without Feeling Guilty | Cleaning Motivation

- As Tyler cleans up another section in his bedroom, I’m going to talk about how to declutter without feeling guilty. I noticed that Tyler would be bad letting something good and I’ve always felt guilt when decluttering. So I wanted to have an open conversation on how we can declutter without covering these top 5 reasons we hold onto it!
1). Paid a lot of Money for it
2). Someone gave it to us.
3). We don’t want to be wasteful
4). It represents potential ideas
5). Letting go of Past Loved Ones items
just a tiny suggestion- once you're done with decluttering please move a furniture off the walls so that space can be checked as well :)
I heard someone (I don't remember who) say that keeping an item doesn't prevent it from going in a landfill but just delays it. They recommended that all of us try to be more conscious of what we buy in the first place.☺️

You're right, I never thought of it that way. I try not to buy new as often as possible. We love repurposing stuff.

I struggle a lot with this, but this made me feel a little hopeful about it. Tyler did a great job! He got rid of a lot of stuff, and that's hard. Happy and proud for the both of you! Parting with things is still a real, heavy struggle for me. But I would like to be able to do it. I would like to learn how to do it, and I think it's important to learn it soon rather than later. The way you framed it here was really helpful, so thanks for the video! I'll definitely come back to it later.

My 5 year old apparently listens when I listen to your videos and clean and declutter. And I just heard her in her room saying “tossy tossy! Tossy tossy! Let’s make some space so we can have more room and feel better!” It was so cute!! Also she loves pepper

What great life skills that Tyler is learning from his mum.
May I suggest that the electronic stuff be placed on a trolley so that it can be easily moved to use and to easily pull out to clean the area behind it. Ikea has a great range of trolleys.
You could put the gaming stuff on top of the cabinet if he clears a bit of room up there when you both go through that stuff. That way you don’t need to add more furniture (and clutter) to the room. Less is more! Great work, Tyler! 🎉

Homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters are usually happy to receive children’s books too. Contact them in advance though as they sometimes have limited storage capacity. I’ve taken children’s books to food pantries as well. Please call in advance too.
I can relate to all you say & my hubby is forever mad when I give things away because they cost money lol🏡❤️🌟❤️❤️

For his rock collection, can I suggest either an old BIG pickle jar to display them in or one of those lamps that have a glass bottom to put things in (seen most of the time with seashells). It's pretty neat and can be seen and enjoyed.

I am one of your watchers that lost her mom in March 2000 and my grandma in June 2006 but my dad and my 2 half brothers are still alive and well that I know of and my daughter is 21 and I have my man so I do have some people still with me but enough about sad stuff I'm glad your feeling better and it's nice to see you doing videos again and I'll see you in your next one
