It’s not about singing deals or making what people want it’s about making what’s good for you and staying independent and out of the established systems we know aren’t the best
I can never quite put my finger on the cause of people's underlying hate for Hyun + Jun. They are two local guys who stayed local, stayed skating for themselves, made a brand for themselves, made some incredible parts. That's like the real dream, not the whole move to america, get sponsored, get shafted by sponsors, turn your skating into a job for someone else. But the comments (from the start) have always been baying for his downfall. Especially recently. They did sick stuff, they're doing sick stuff, and I hope they keep doing it.
forced style , trap edits that everyone bites. Easy old head rage bait. At least he’s good at skating if he was like Burberry Erry it would be much worse
Loved the Bob Ross reference you made at 4:45 which I feel like is a major part of what makes Hyun's style so dope. So many clips in this video are of him making a mistake but still landing it (sketchily) which is normally a big nono in skating but he pulls it off and it adds to his allure. Just like how Bob Ross makes happy accidents and then turns them into a sick little tree or something. Solid vid dude
I like Hyun, and I like that his footage and presence is rare. I think a lot of skaters post too much on instagram make too many parts, I appreciate his footage that much more when it drops. I also respect that he wants to do his own thing because he should stay in germany, he's got a good thing going on and he is so unique that where would he really even fit in, in the context of a skate team. Him and his crew is the vibe and it's what makes his presentation what it is. Him trying to be a pro on a board team and living in LA is just competing in a rat race.
Hyun 100% dont care about the US skate market , well if a big brand will send him a box of boards (Primitive,Baker) of course he'll take it cause its free who doesnt ? , I remeber this one interview in THRASHER where Torey Pudwill hit up Hyun to ride or send a box of Thank You , Hyun replied “I don’t do sponsors" then Torey replied "That ain’t what this is!” then Hyun didnt reply back which I really find hilarious ! LOL
@@dumbdata34 LOL 🤣! its like he has this thing " I DONT NEED YOU , YOU NEED ME, SO IF YOU NEED ME SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN PUT ON THE TABLE OR ELSE I DONT REPLY " pretty sure alot of US skate companies hit him up(not just Tpuds) and he ignored LOL !
In my opinion, I do agree with the theory he comes from some money. But he is a rare case of being a genuine skate rat in spite of that. He doesn't need the industry validation; you can tell by body language he doesn't really fuck with Crob in that BATB interview. I don't think his goal was influence, I think he was just a kid who wanted to skate with his older brother and eventually got better than him. Yes, the brand isn't marketed well at all, they really just rely on organic traffic and don't organize full parts in their videos. But I feel skateboarding needed Hyun because he broke a lot of rules.
I’ve been following him and his brother for a long time. Jun used to have “My Father is German, My mother is Korean” in his Insta bio. Also they used to skate in a Green park all the time as opposed to the cement park they’re always at now. You might be right but like you said it’s awesome they’re genuine Skate heads.
Weird way to end a great video lol. Ending on the part where you said “one thing..get them clips” would’ve been nice imo cause it makes skaters think. But that’s just my option. that was some great commentary and breakdown man. He’s def calculated and I honestly respect it. It’s part of what’s brought him so much attention His mystery is damn near like the playboi carti of skateboarding
Actually the popular instagram video from 2017 was not filmed in an airport but the trainstation „Potsdamer Platz“ which is the closest station to the „kulturforum“ spot where a lot of his clips were filmed.
When i moved to germany ten years back i remember seeing hyun skate a few times in oldenburg and he must have been like 15 or something but he was doing back tail bigspin out every time in this knee high ledge and he was back smithing up and down pyramids, like just locked in smithing through kinks. He was completely silent the whole time, just shredding. I think its more what his personality is like, it's not for show.
Nice video, would love to see similar video about David Gonzalez as there are couple of theories on him quitting skateboarding and all of them are crazy.
He started a whole trend and everyone jumped on it. At some point there were tens of skateboarders posting plug-style clips every other day. Anything super trendy will eventually die out. The same way that streetwear trends change extremely quickly compared to say 7 years ago
The Kulturforum double set that he often skates is much sketchier in person. Run up and landing are downhill and the ground is way rougher and slipperier than it looks, which is a weird combination.
Bro i skate with him one time AND I DIDNT REALIZE IT WAS HIM, just after he upload a video in the same skatepark i saw it was him... But yeah he has real vibes
Hyunn is the perfect example of why style matters so much more than the actual tricks because he does tricks that are considered illegal like double flips and makes them look good which is not easy
Hyun, Flytecc, the editing/music - it's all just poetic for lack of a more descriptive term. Those stomps to the beat are some of the coolest shit I've seen in twenty years of skateboarding. Obviously its tailored to the younger audience but at the end of the day, the kid rips and shit looks dope.
I went to a nike sb demo in my town in 2017 where hyun was also skating. Some of our local skaters hung out with him and genuinely said that he has a very child-like character, which says alot because we all were around 17-18 at the time. They said he liked to smoke a lot of weed and just chill. I guess if he doesnt know you like that he wont entertain a conversation with you
These are obviously their leftovers with a couple of really good clips. Basically posting 2 videos quickly says to me "Hey, we're working on stuff. Here's this, the brand isn't done. Oh you thought this was a one off? Here's another vid."
when theres 2 brothers that dont work, and they are close friends/live together into adulthood there's almost always a large inheritance thing going on. ive seen it so many times. the name "versace plug" while not being a hip black dude is another sign of that. eating pizza off the floor at someone elses place sounds like rich kid behavior too lol.
in what way? i also think skaters should credit their filmers, especially if the part took very long to film. i never ask for tags but in my mind i think of it as rather a d*ck move and i'd imagine most people do but they don't want to make drama over some tag. it's not that filmers hope someone will see the tag and follow them or whatever, it's just a nice gesture of appreciation and if i see no tag i feel like he doesn't acknowledge me willing to just sit there for hours for him or is too embarassed to tag me or something. like literally what other reason could there be. that it's gonna make the description look less sophisticated? lol
@@tomybogadjian1487while i kinda agree, he clearly said he put HOURS filming him. i think he was speaking for all his filmers, and thanks to him, he finally credited some people. i think he did the right thing
When I first heard "Fohsogee Plug" I thought they meant like an ear expander, and that was hot in skate fashion right now, or something. hahahaha. I only got on this UA-cam skate stuff quite recently. I'm an old head, and really only skated a lot in the 90's. I still love skateboarding though, so when I found out everyone just uploads to YT now, and you don't have to buy the DVD's, I was on it. Have started skating again recently, but I'm old, so gotta take it easy.
They obviously just wanna skate those amazing Berlin spots with their friends, have fun with creating a cool brand for themselves and their supporters and generally just contribute to a growing European scene. I don't think they look at it that deep and we shouldn't either, not everything needs to be dissected and analysed in my humble opinion. That being said it's nice to see them get a video on DD so 🤷♂️ 😂
I think the fall of the hypebeast and sneaker market has a huge influence on his subltle decline. 4 years ago he was skating the most coveted unattainable shoes so that made things more hype. Trendy skaters are in a new era now and his style is kinda old now imo
There is no fall, those dude are just flying! Ok joke a side, those guys just enjoy skating and share their footage (what i am personally really happy for). They are not bagging for likes, subs or anything.

I wouldn't say Yuto's style is particularly unique. His trick selection definitely is, but he has *relatively* standard hands down/robo-steeze (it's a very PRod, Primitive/April type of steeze that was popularized in the 2010's). He's definitely a future goat doe
