It is hard to believe that this masterful icon could have played such silly roles and looked so silly doing it. But I adore him and now that he is older, he is distinguished, refined, and magical, regardless of what role he plays. Kitchen, or Sir Michael, as I have knighted him, is indeed, a man for all seasons.
I was so happy when one of the narrators said that Sir Michael agreed to do Foyle's War, as no one could have done it better. Mr. KItchen built that role from the beginning to the end; everything from the character's persona, facial expressions, and no doubt, some of the comments. As if that was not enough, Foyle has the coolest walk of any man on the planet. I roll back my remote, just to watch his walk, over and over. Anyone else's left leg would have been out of joint, long ago, if they exercised it the way he does. That cool walk on the beach, after he resigned his post, just thrills me to no end. Please Foyle, come back and just walk for me. Ha, ha.
So it's not just me that loves his walk! I have always thought that about the scene you mentioned. A beautiful walk and those gorgeous bedroom eyes and that VOICE! Only discovered Foyle's War a couple of years ago and can't even count how many times I've watched it. Had seen Out of Africa and Enchanted April but didn't realize that was him until I started trying to watch everything he's in. He plays a lot of awful people but he's so good at it! Mr. Foyle is still my favorite! Love these videos!
Great addition, Jilly. Wish I could keep all of them on a continuous loop. They just show how incredibly talented this man is. And not to mention gorgeous, adorable, funny, etc, etc, etc........
Total command on stage also. Much loved by all RSC technical crew at the Barbican. An accolade that, I can assure you, was not given lightly. Quality Human being. :-) :-)
Good to hear, and not surprised. Can't believe I joined the National Theatre box office pretty much just as he left the company, what rubbish timing, hey. ;)
Another lovable watch of our lovely Michael 🙅♀️ We need a series of his videos on here, some I just don’t recognize, , so I’m off on a Michael Kitchen video hunt - if anyone can give out names of them that would be great thank you. Keep up the good work Jilly 👏👏🥰
Oh my gosh, you've done it again! I know it probably takes an extremely long time to put one of these together, but I do hope you won't limit yourself (and us) to just four of these treasures! I wish Mr. K would watch these...he would give one (or two) of his priceless looks of amusement. And thanks for including my favorite clips from "The Hanging Gale" that I have chosen for my pic. What a face!
Sir Michael Kitchen makes Robert Redford look like Pinocchio. Foyle holds his own, no matter whom he plays opposite of. I love his facial expressions, and his gentility towards women. I dream of him all the time. He can play any role he decides to do. I would like to see him play a priest. He would kill it.
Jilly, this is one of your best. The timing is often hilarious! and only you could make scenes from brimstone and treacle funny! Well done. If they ever did a tribute to MK any of your videos could be used...so good. Thank you for once again making my day...
Who says glam rock is a bizarre choice for this piece of serendipity? This was what REALLY got me out of bed this morning. Another lovely JillyFern addition to the Michael Kitchen's Mobile Features Archive. (It's just a crying shame this won't play on my ruddy mobile!!!!)
Where did you get all these marvellous clips? God, he was bloody gorgeous when he was younger, and SEXY. And he just gets better and better. Now want to watch all these films/programmes with him in
Nearly all the most beautiful older guys are exactly 5'7" tall, and that's what he has overall, where every single bit of him is beautiful and even his voice and personality are beautiful and unique. There's a laundry list of just the famous beautiful 5'7" guys that fall under the same category, such as Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Donald Pleasence, Dennis Boutsikaris, Griffin Dunne, John Hillerman, Martin Sheen, Al Pacino, Dean Norris, Colin Stinton, Peter MacNicol, David McCallum, Ian McShane, Jeff Stelling, David Suchet, Alan Titchmarsh etc etc. 2 of the most beautiful brilliant guys that could ever possibly exist just happen to be exactly 5'7" as well, Vladimir Putin and Gavin Richards. Even the only beautiful black guy ever, Joseph Marcell, just happens to be 5'7" as well.
So do I. I wished there were more for him in Out of Africa. I wonder if you thought he was interested in Karen for awhile before Denisy made a play for Karen? Does anyone knows?
There once was an actor from Leicester Whom people would constantly pester You're a comical bloke So tell us a joke and he ended up playing court jester ! And he ended up playing court jester !
***** Hi there :o) The first beard is from King Lear (1982), he plays Edmund. The second and third clips are from Freud (1984), he plays Ernst von Fleischl-Marxow.
the theme for foyle's war was interesting. seemed to be a riff on a minor key and drifted here and there as the action so needed. it was a veritable anchor, ....so to speak.
Michael Kitchen is irresistible. Has the entire package!

He certainly has, he did nothing for me when he was young, but now ..... whew
That's what all guys are like in my opinion. And it's Kitchen.

We are so lucky to have him and Marty Shaw in our lives
Thank you for this. Just working my through Foyje for the umpteenth time. Lovely man.
Great addition, Jilly. Wish I could keep all of them on a continuous loop. They just show how incredibly talented this man is. And not to mention gorgeous, adorable, funny, etc, etc, etc........

He's a fantastic actor, the best by a long shot.
mmhmmmn thanks for sharing Kitchen yumminess

Only now getting to know about Kitchen's early career. And as for glam rock - nothing wrong with a bit of it. :]
Anything better than Michael Kitchen? I don't think so. Do you?
No one ever sees him and David Essex together - strange!!
Brilliant, I love it. :-D

Wish you mentioned the movies of every scene you selected...as a new at MKs world it is bit hard to recognize the movie
Майкл Китчен хорош в любом возрасте. Обожаю его.
Brilliant actor....Sir?
Video evidence that men get better looking with age (though not taller!)
Who Cares how tall he is? He is gorgeous!
There’s a clip with MK in a bathtub. He has a beard. What is that from please?
It’s from the mini series ‘Freud’ from 1984.
