Dragon of Icespire Peak is an adventure for beginner players, but more likely intermediate players for d&d 5e. This content is my personal experience running both adventures as a dungeon master. I have not combine the adventures, so this involves speculation.

I combined both campaigns in order to give my players more choice in things to do, and they're only following the LMoP leads because they're more narrative driven. The method outlined in the video is definitely the way to go!
Thanks for the back up. Dungeon Masters could include some side quests if the players characters pursue a particular course of action, otherwise I would leave them out.

I'm combining them because of possible ways things can go since I'm changing a few things up in LMoP. I want to make sure they don't miss out on xp and I think the narrative I've crafted will allow for more role-playing options and lead better into the ultimate showdown with Tiamat. It's mainly going to follow LMoP with DoIP added in for flavor.

Can you please do a video on how to continue the story past this? There is little to no resources for new DMs that are approaching the end of Icespire and moving on to Storm Lords Wrath, Sleeping Dragons Wake and Divine Contention.
I don't know that I can at this point. I have not run the expansion adventures, because I found them very dull. The Talos storyline had distracted my players in Dragon of Icespire Peak and it just annoyed me. Bob World Builder is your best bet.
I am running icespire peak currently and some quests I do not give rewards, but I rewarded the shrine of Savras with extra feats I chose for the players as an alternative to leveling
Dungeon Masters can always add rewards or treasure if they want. Not every quest or adventure location needs to have a reward. Thanks for sharing what you did.
I am preparing a mashup where black spider, red mage and glasstaff are the same person and his development with the partys achievments like slaying cryovain, clearing echo cave, dealing with talos acolytes. He becomes the true bbeg taking the lategame into waterdeep

You do remember what I say, A+ for ProdigyWright. What makes you think this is not an April Fool's joke? Because this is the sort of thing I would do, right. I get the last laugh. This video doesn't actually explain how to combine the two adventures in the way many people have been trying to do. I explain how to run Lost Mine of Phandelver first, then follow it up with some of the best parts of Dragon of Icespire Peak. They are still separate in a sense. A shame to loss two reasonable campaign starts in my opinion.

How do you feel about upgrading Cryovain to an elder dragon? That way you can practically end the adventure between 9-12
I think most Dungeon Masters will regret not upgrading Cryovain to a Adult White Dragon for level 6 characters. An Ancient White Dragon will be fine for Character Levels between 9 to 12, if you have 4-5 players and they know the game well. Even if the Dragon appears to hard, the players can bug out and try again at a later date.
There is a full arc of the logger's camp woodland manse and circle of thunder quests that make sense together . So if they were to be run as a chain quest to understand the orcs/anchorites relationship with the recent dragon attacks, that would give depth to the adventure
The Orc story line distracts from the Dragon in my opinion. But you can always do what you think, because it's your game.
Hi I’m a first time DM and have never been a player either. Me and a group of friends have started lost mines already but I bought both boxes and was thinking to combine them. After reading through them
Both I had a similar strategy planned out as you suggested in this video. My question is why do you not recommend combining the two adventures?
There are to many story threads involved for players to follow and can result in player confusion. Both adventures have to many big threats and results in some threats being overshadowed by the Dragons or Talos. Talos overshadows Cryovain the Dragon, witch is the story not the Orcs worshiping Talos. Venomfang the Dragon becomes more interesting than the Black spider if presented, yet the story is about Nezznar's black network.

@@HowtoRPG My players met Venomfang and convinced him to form an alliance and give them Hew without a fight to the death in exchange for promising to kill Cryovain and bringing his hoard back to Venomfang. (Cryovain doesn't HAVE a hoard of course, but the party and Venomfang don't know that). Boy are they both going to be surprised (and Venomfang PISSED) when they find out.

hey just wanted an opinion but i'm planning to run a slower paced game so which would mean that the pcs would level up slower then what they normaly would DoIP. I'm planning to do this so that the players can experience the reconstruction of phandalin more and add more adventures at the start of the campaign that lead phandalins reconstruction to create a more immersive game for my players. i'm also planning to include to add Phandalin features in LMoP into DoIP such as the smithy and woodworker to incorperate the rebuilding aspect into my game better. My players are fairly new so they wouldnt know the difference in the games pace and dw about level 1 because i got them to level up to lvl 2. so yeah just wanted your opinion or anyone that reads this coment
the slow paced nature of the game will also give them some downtime in phandalin to help rebuild it
It would be easier with Dragon of Icespire Peak.
