  • Front foot off-side shots can be improved to score more runs in cricket matches. Wider off-side balls are bad balls and should be hit well. Improve your front foot off-side shots with the simple tips shown in this video.
There are plenty of runs to be had on the off-side. Scoring these runs requires a good off-side batting technique, without this technique a batsmen is just relying on luck, and luck can only get one so far!
This video shows us the mistakes in front foot technique that some batsmen make when trying to score runs on the off-side. These mistakes in technique can cost batsmen their wicket. So I have shown some simple drills that batsmen can practice in the nets to improve their off-side technique.
    Enjoy!!

Enjoying your videos and have subscribed. My son who is 9 is showing lots of interest in cricket and now belongs to a small club. I'm watching lots of videos to help him the park where there are nets. He hits a lot of shots but slicing under the ball so it goes up more or produces back spin. Do you have a video on this or thoughts on what causes this.

Hi! Sorry for the delay in my response.
This is most likely cause by his bottom hand dominating the shots.
I would suggest him top do top handed ONLY drives, where he holds the bat tight with only his top hand and plays drives (best to do it with a tennis ball). This will help him keep the ball down and not slice it.

I had a problem of angling the bat for some reason. Specially when I am not able to read the speed of the delivery. This particular drill in the video did not help. With this the foot wont go accross but the weight is still on the front foot.
What helped me was consicously playing the ball late so that it goes to Point or behind point (more in the 3rd man) direction. Once you aim to hit it to point or 3rd man (depending on the length + bounce) you wait for the ball + your body weight transfers at the right time helping you time the shot.

OK here is my question basically we play cut shot by moving our backleg towards offstump. What's the advantage of playing like this by moving our frontleg slightly?

Advantage of moving your back leg towards off-stump -
      1) Get closer to the ball for the cut shot
      2) Cover your off-stump
      3) Transfer your weight onto your back foot which allows you to be tall for the cut shot
      Hope this helps!

He don't try his body to lean on the ball and he even take his frant foot properly on the ball length

Hi Tanu, 5 year old is still too young to teach proper batting technique. However you can teach him this, by making it a fun game for him. Put a max-zone where you want him to hit and he will be motivated to hit in that direction, this will naturally encourage him to play with a straight bat.
But remember cricket is a game, let it be fun for children and not too serious!

Shouldn’t he be going back foot, the ball is short. Please delete this and make another video with proper technique.

Not necessary we need to follow every shot by the book. Some shots can be improvised and played in a way the individual player feels comfortable.
