Back in the days, with some friends, we've build several foam models from FliteTest. The cub is a wonderful model. The schematics are available freely on their website. There's no new free plans since 2019 but they sell the corresponding kits and many new ones too. The prices aren't bad. And there's at least one video for each model on their youtube channels for building instructions / tips.
The Flerken is on my too long wishlist. 😄

Great review as always, Lee. You’ve been very kind to them. As you say, this one doesn’t really cut it, particularly at this price!

Awesome flying and review, Lee! 😃
I love those simpler rc airplanes. You can make a model from the parts and then cut them from depron or foam board to replace when needed. And there are tons of free plans for those online as well! 😃
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Hi Lee Great video and review of the HeeWing HU-27 I was sort-of hoping for it to work better. I thought at first it would fly like the foam airplanes we built in the 90s, and if we had 4 channels gyro, they would be fun for combat. Thanks again for the video and information.

Updating my opinion of this little profile plane. I finally got this working with a Radiolink Byme-D gyro (paired w/ an Radiomaster R81 receiver). Flew 3 good flights now and the conclusion is that it needs to have 80 to 100% throttle to keep it afloat (other club members mentioned it's underpowered). Under that, it will stall very easily. Plus, not the best plane for rolls or loops as they all induce stall as well. Regardless, I like it now after going through many many 'maidens'. However, while small and docile (implying a beginner may lean towards it), I don't think it's a beginner plane considering all the work to get it flyable (and the original flight controller was scrapped too; may revisit its use in the future on another plane).

@@Painless360 i second this. I scrapped the stock gyro and put in a small byme gyro but despite that it was terrible.
Finally got it flying but it has this terrible tendency to just roll suddenly and then plummet to the ground.
I kept thinking it was the gyro so finally tried it direct without a gyro but faced the exact same issue. Eventually it to bits.
Since I now have all the electronics could you recommend any other plans for a slow flier on a 2S 850 mah battery. Might as well use the components

@@arshishmaneckji9547 wow, u just described my exact experience. I scrapped the original flight controller/gyro and got a Byme-D. Remaidened yesterday and confirmed control surfaces should move in its proper direction. Then launch and it just rolls over. Then flew it for all of 50 yds w/o stabilizer bit then (no wind) it stalled out on a straight-away! Seems need full throttle.

Lee- I agree that some aircraft come with possibly a pictorial assembly guide, and nothing about the finer art of making it fly. I just went through this with a wing that has a stabilized mode, and absolutely nothing about radio setup. Ought to be a law against such. Seems simple, but emphasis on easy, proper, correct setting up is routinely lacking. And quads, forget about it. Good thing we have the internet and forums to rely upon! Cheers from the States

I just got one and put it together and got it in the air today. I dont understand how s-bus works so mine is just flying off a ar500 spectrum receiver. It seemed sluggish and squirlly on a 2 cell so ive been flying on a 3 cell. I had yhe propeller break the first time i throttled it up so i swapped it out with a little zod motor with a nut. It flys good but without stabilization, you kind of have to stay in the throttle or else it has a mind of its own.

RC Powers, a box of underfloor foam insulation and a sharp knife. Knock these air frames out for a couple of quid each. Ideal for combat.

I'm just trying to set one of these up in my radio at the moment; I note from Lee's comment (and also trial and error) that the Throttle is (weirdly) disabled when Ch7 is high (+100). However, I'm not sure about the Flight Modes; I believe Lee commented that Ch5 low (-100) is full stabilisation, but I'm not sure I interpreted that correctly and what other modes might there be at 0 and +100? Has anyone set one of these up successfully and worked out the flight modes?

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 Рік тому

Only way is to adjust the servo horn/control horn linkages - closer to servo/further from control surface for less gain if it is fluttering.

Where is the CG on this plane? Does it fly without flight controller. I did buy the F22 on aliexpress but instead of recieving the FTC2.1 flight controller, I did recieved a Heewing RX 1.0. The latest as strange behavior when I test on the table. So I made the maided without flight controller and the CG is way backwards compared to where it should be. This makes me thing the controller is compensating for bad cg.

That is a lot of money for a foam cut out. I've made these in the past just using foam board from Hobbycraft, downloading a free plan from a UA-cam video, and asking a printers to print it out. Afternoon with a sharp knife and glue glue and it was done. That for me would be a do not buy. Great video though! 👍👍
