another episode of what my friends eat in a day! Mary (@motivatewithmary) is a long distance runner (she's currently training for the Boston Marathon) who runs up to 10-15 miles a day! of course, she needs lots of healthy food and fuel, so here's what she nourishes herself with :)

Mine too. That's exactly what I thought, as she said it. I'm 52, and my 10k steps are my dedicated meditating time. Different strokes for different folks.
10k steps are actually active than most people. Most people only take 2k-7k steps a day which is low sedentary. I would start off jogging for 1 minute and rest and do another rep of 1 min and rest. And another to get use to it. Walking is as good as running. Since she's a competitive runner it's quite different to an average active person.
Yeah but one day when she is 35 she's going to realize how much time and effort she wasted.....she's not a professional athlete.. and she's still going to age like everyone else...
All that obsessive running and obsessive diet are not worth much...

@@Happygabby12345 you can honestly eat this same diet and be in relatively the same healthy shape minus the distance running. I’m a distance runner and I can go weeks without running so long as I maintain the same diet.

Meaning less than 1% of the world could run at that pace.............. Are you an elite half-marathon runner? Is that where the criticism comes from?

@@aryanaryachoudhary yeah thats pretty decent. I llooked up a chart and for women at her age 6 to 7 minutes per mile is advanced. Her 8 minutes per mile is great but not earth shattering. Of course faster than me.

i used to have to walk 2.5 miles back from work to the train station after a 12 hour shift and that took me over an hour. 12 miles in 2 hours!?!?!?!? impressive
AFTER 12hr shift. Give yourself some grace.
I believe you have to run a 7 minute or under mile to be active military in the US so that would be around 17.5 minutes for 2.5 miles. To me that is quick, I have short legs and could never 😂 I think my pace currently when walking a mile is around 18 minutes so that’s 45 minutes for 2.5 miles. I feel like my mile is on the higher side because I refuse to run but speed walk😂 and that’s not after a 12 hr shift. Idk how ppl go so fast it’s wild to me.
@@Grayyy__ You don’t have to have a 7 minute mile to be active duty in any branch of the US military.
@@cody7888 perfect score for Marine Corps PFT is 6 minute pace for 3 miles. 18 min 3 mile is 100 points. However, the minimum run time you need is a 9 minute pace which is a bad score.

This is an example of what she eats in a day- even if she didn't eat all this stuff in one day in that specific order, this is a great example of the type of meals she consumes. Still a good representation of what a runner like her will eat. Also, to think that every video from every creator is 100% realistic and true-to-life every time is incredibly naive. I’m a runner as well and fueling is sooo important even in rest days!
For me, the day after a long run feels especially like I’m eating for two for every meal.

Idk why everyone on here is complaining about the clips from different days. Most adults do not have the time to spend the entire day with their friends morning to night. This is still a great example of what her food likes like on an average day.

Ah I wish I could run but every time I try my shins and knees scream in pain.
If you get the right shoes and first practice on a treadmill, treadmills practically make you run in correct form if you put a slight incline on it. Also, the surface on a treadmill is even, so it simulates flat ground. Finally, if you do some cycling for ten minutes in the gym, followed by 3 minutes of the leg press doing what you can, it’ll strengthen your hips and hamstrings before you go run. Having strong hips, glutes, and hams puts the load on the muscles and reduces the effort from the knees down. Good luck running!

@@Aaarandom To start, they should be the right size. Too often, people are in the wrong size shoe due to vanity/fashion standards and because they’re not accounting for the fact that your feet swell when you run. It’s recommended that you go up half a size from your normal shoe size for running.
There are many factors that dictate the type of shoe you need such as your arch type (in most cases, people have neutral feet), whether you overpronate or supinate, and your foot strike (either forefoot/mid or heel). If you have running specific shop near you, they can take a quick look at your foot and give a basic assessment on the type of shoe you need. Brooks also has a shoe type assessment on their site that’s useful even if you don’t buy their shoes. I’ll link it at the bottom.
Dealing with the types of issues you’re seeing with shin pain, exercising your calves and other muscles around your shins will give you relief. I got horrible shin splints from my first 5K, but since I’ve become a regular runner, I don’t get them anymore. For knee pain, it depends where you’re feeling it. In most cases if the pain goes away after running or the next day, you can work on exercises that focus on your hamstrings, hips, and glutes. You’d be surprised how these things being underdeveloped will affect your knees. I recently started getting IT band syndrome (which for me feels like the outer part of the knee is tearing) and it’s because I was not doing regular strength training for my upper leg muscles.
I’m sure you’ll find something that works, but I know it’s also a journey. Good luck!

How tall is she? Doesn't seem like enough calories for someone running 50 miles a week 😢
I would argue she had a well balanced, calorie sufficient day of eating
-she had a pre-workout protein drink and a gel pack
-the egg, bread, cream cheese and berry, breakfast
-she then had two protein bars and a rice for a snack
(This is a significant amount of calories and protein to consume before lunch, which helped replenish what she burned on the run)
-she then had roast chicken, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts with a partial chocolate smoothie
-shrimp and pasta for dinner
-after all of that, she had another snack of a decently large bowl of yogurt and fruit
@@makenziecely it depends how tall she is. If she's short, yeah. I'm a tall female runner and not even running 50 miles at the moment - and this definitely wouldn't be enough for me. I'd be losing weight on this.
