Busy day in this video......we renovate a kitchen and install a hot water tap..... And then get an emergency call out to a drilled cold water pipe....... But whats happened!! Dont forget to get subscribed to the channel
Hi Mark, the kitchen was looking great when you lads had finished. Yep it still happens to me, just when you have a nice day planned the emergency call comes in. I think you have a lot more friends than I do 😂😂. Another great film thank you, have a good week and as always take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍
Is this trade worth doing? Im thinking of either doing this, electric, or carpentry. I found a course and its expensive. Just thinking what to go for. Also is it worth doing the gas engineering course as well as its separate to plumbing.
17:02 anti heat matting !!! The foil tape is so the plastic pipes can be detected with a cable detector before holes are drilled by the customer or the aircon guy, you will find it on all new builds these days, you might even find bell wire wrapped around plastic pipes in stud work
Lovely video Mark. What plonker decided to run a pipe in the corner of the wall? I’m surprised that the aircon guys didn’t fix it. Looks like another smashing day for you, would have been better if the bacon butty was waiting for you 😂👍
Hi mate do you reckon it's worth putting the power on to a timer ie so it not heating up a tank of water fo 10 hours overnight and save power also prolong the life of the device ?
Does it matter what brand push fit fittings you use in a case like this? I suppose what i mean is, can you use other manufacturers of fittings on another manufacturer's pipe? Great vid as always, Mark. Real world plumbing 👌
@@MJTiffPlumbing The HVAC chap with x-ray vision, was off that day. 🤣 Although i am surprised they didn't use a stud finder, the Aluminium foil is there for that reason.
JG Speedfit do make a telescopic repair coupling, perfect for situations where you can't get any movement on the pipes, but you'd still have to make the hole bigger.
@@ON-tk7bp yh Vado on the whole is ok. I fit a few of their bath waste/overflow fillers and I don't rate them the inner rubbers are useless scrunch up every time you try to tighten them, but their taps and shower valves seem good in my experience. Fitted a few of their handhelds too. I've had Bristan taps at home and the chromes blown on all 4 of them. Think I'll try some Grohe or Crosswater for replacements.
The wife's been on at me for a couple of years to get a Quooker tap but ive always pushed back as they are very pricey. This Triflow looks good though and about a third of the price?! Actually might pull the trigger on this, thanks.
Thanks for that, Mark. Tom should be on commission the amount of content he provides you! That undersink was quite a contrast to the previous video - so much tidier.
You would have thought that the HVAC chap could have fixed that! - No doubt you'll be going back to fix the HVAC system, especially as he was working in a permitted zone
@@deanmiles8421 Not in the corner of a living room would be a start. Kitchen yes , bathroom yes , but a living room ? Really ? Years ago everything was surface or boxed and that was acceptable then but it seems not anymore.
As far as I know there is no 100 degree tap. As water will be a gas at that temperature. And one liter of water at 100 degrees is going to be 1600 liters of steam.

The foil tape behind the pipe is to be able to find the pipe routes with a stud finder👍
Don’t think it worked this time….🤦🏻♂️
@@MJTiffPlumbing yeah🤣🤣
🤣🤦🏻♂️
I just think the HVAC lad didnt check as tbf if you didnt know the outside tap was there, you would of thought there would be no pipes there at all.
I was gonna say the same thing about the foil tape. Those air con guys should've used a stud finder! 😉
Lovely job. I would have removed the upstands and tiled right down. x
Customer wanted to keep them…. They are always right 👍🏼👍🏼
Easiest hot water tap to fit on the market atm
Love fitting this unit
You would have thought the HVAC guys would have some pushfit bits in the van for this situation.
Yep I was surprised when they didn’t to be fair

Thanks Chris…. Yep customer is over the moon with the tiling and hot tap 👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼
Great video pal, looking forwards to fitting my first triflow tap
Thanks mate….. soo straight forward
Nice job as always Mark, shame they didn't use a stud finder whoever instaoled that pipe did at least put the foil tape on the wall.
Thanks mate….. soon sorted
Am I the only one who thinks Matty looks like your brother Mark? Another good fix on the emergency call out 👍
Hahahaha…… he will love that
😂
there is a speedfit repair coupler kit. but more expensive than 2 couplers and a bit of pipe and inserts?
Yer I’ve seen them, never used one though
Another top job bud 👍🏻
Thanks mate……. Tiling is spot on
Feel ur pain mate heading home for a couple of hours in the garden with a beer & then the dreaded call
Always something mate 👍🏼
tbf hard to detect plastic unless its a hot water supply and use your thermo hate them tricky ones with no give great job nice little earner
Yep had to open up the hole and get some elbow grease on it

Didn’t work here 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Good video, I take it there's no need for an expansion vessel am I right in saying if water pressure is over 3 bar you need expansion?
Nope, no need as the tap is the vent of ever needed 👍🏼👍🏼
Always somebody drilling through pipes but keeps us in work on top of all the other work that needs doing
This is true Glyn 👍🏼👍🏼
JG also do slip couplers, 15 and 22mm.
Do they???…. Didn’t know that and never seen them
As long as you can make a brew with it that's good enough for me 😆
Hahaha yep works a treat

The corners of walls are also cable installation zones. 😉
Hi mate do you reckon it's worth putting the power on to a timer ie so it not heating up a tank of water fo 10 hours overnight and save power also prolong the life of the device ?
It’s designed to hold heat very well so won’t be heating up for 10hours overnight… it kicks in when the temp drops like all hot water tank systems
Does it matter what brand push fit fittings you use in a case like this? I suppose what i mean is, can you use other manufacturers of fittings on another manufacturer's pipe?
Great vid as always, Mark. Real world plumbing 👌
good vid as always, aint the tape so you can find the pipes with detector.
Apparently so 🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
The foil is so you can locate the plastic pipes with a stud finder for the exact reason to not hit it with a drill.
Didn’t work here🤣
I did that not so long back. Good job it was at the mrs house and not mine 😂😂.
🤣🤣👍🏼
That silver tape is so you can check if there is pipework present in the wall.
If that’s the case it doesn’t work🤣🤣🤣
as in foil aluminum tape picked up by metal detector?

Its only easy when you know how 🤣😉👍🏼
I wonder if they will ever make a slip coupler for the pipe .or may not be possible. .😯.
Can't do a lot with a small hole .has to be big
Yep gotta open it up to get onto it
JG Speedfit do make a telescopic repair coupling, perfect for situations where you can't get any movement on the pipes, but you'd still have to make the hole bigger.

Which brand taps do you recommend as a plumber these days?
All depends on where there going……..

Premixed mud for the tiling, didn’t fancy the faff of rapid set? 😉
Ask the tiler……

Honestly mate, these are superb…. And imho better than the well overpriced ones that steam and spit and burn your hands
Don't bother, use a kettle. Far cheaper and no maintenance.
to be fair the pipes were in the zones according to electrical prescribed zones. not sure if they are for plumbers?
Was feeding the outside tap
should have just put 4 bends on, no prob getting slip then & boys could have used the same hole
4 bends….. would of needed a hole twice as big🤣
@@MJTiffPlumbingcould have probably done it within the size or original hole
Guessing with the pipe being plastic a detector wouldn't have helped in this case. Done it myself very easy done.💦

What would you have paid??
