Cool you didn't fall in the common mistake almost everyone does with this title and writing or saying "Line" lol
Iine! is one of the early songs, 2nd single released, making us clear they don't wanna be pigeonholed. It's a super fun party night song with their besties and you got everything you need on this song, from de "Para Para" style, eurobeat and MoiMoi chemistry (Moimoi is Yui and Moa together doing their thing), to a hip hop with 90's look and heavy metal with death growls breakdown, is a beautiful crazy dream and is "Iine" = 👍
Note: this is one of the few songs I always recommend to watch the official MV first coz that brutal breakdown and the visual hits harder. Megitsune, Doki Doki Morning and Karate official MV are another worth to react the MV for first time watching.
Song was part of a single and first collaboration with the band Kiba Of Akiba, they made a cover of one song called "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai" (the only cover they played several times at live concerts before 2014) and Kiba Of Akiba did Doki Doki Morning, an interesting upbeat tempo version.
Except for certain songs like Headbanger!! and IDZ, SuMetal doesn't shout those parts you heard during live performance, is always a backing track, same for the growling except for Distortion after 2019, that got collaboration growling of Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy band, also none of the Kami Band do growling or any voices on any song. MomoMetal, the new official member also did some growling lines in the live version of METALI!!
The live version certainly is a blast and you'll see some difference on dance choreography, live at Budokan 2014 is a nice choice to enjoy the original trio once again.
Last year they brought back this hit live at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama and later at the Asian/Australian Tour after almost 6 years without playing when YuiMetal left the group, we'll see in future shows but like always OTFGK. (Only The Fox God Knows).
That ludicrous hip hop breakdown always get everyone lol.
Remember tomorrow they're gonna released a new collab along with Electric Callboy, so make sure to hit that notification in the official channel.

Great reaction, that was 'so good' (literally since that is what iine means - think thumbs up emoji👍) and well done for not falling into the trap of calling it Line - most people do that.
It was only the second song they released, that was very early in 2012 (it was their third song but IDZ, which was the second song they performed, was released later).
They were clearly establishing very early on that all the usual rules of what you can do, what genres you can mix into one song and so on were not going to apply to BABYMETAL.🦊🤘
What they did here was they tore up all the rules on how music must fit into one of the many imaginary boxes people have in their minds, then they wrote their own rules ... and they tore them up as well. If they want to have a song with EDM, hip hop, death metal and more EDM to finish then that's what they will do.🤘
So EDM, a bit of hip hop/rap and then that drop into death metal (they did warn you - "Yo yo yo yo. Microphone check, one two one two. Are you ready to mosh? Kitsune da o!")
Quite possibly the best drop into death metal from hip hop ever - and then back to the EDM to finish. As the song title suggests - it is so good.👍
In most live versions they swapped the rap and it became a call and response (they kept it in some live performances of course - "BABYMETAL in da house!") ... but that drop is still there.
Su only pretends with screams like that, it wasn't her. Also the growling vocals in the death metal part are explaining the hand sign is not the traditional metal devil horns or maloik,🤘it is the kitsune (fox).🦊
I love the rap part XD I wwould LOVE to see that live....I bet the crowd goes nuts!
@@alexatakesalook I think it was the Sakura Gakuin 2012 graduation concert that has the rap part included ... they definitely had it for the Legend 2015 concert at Saitama Super Arena, but I'm not sure that is available on UA-cam.

If you want see Babymetal really early live performance, checkout the links I found below. It was performed at the basement of Tower Records Japan, and dated back to April 6, 2012.
They were so close to the audiencees and they were singing live. It's impossible to lips sync.

You successfully dodged the Iine reactor bullet and didnt call it "Line". It's such a common mistake that its a meme among Babymetal fans.
Iine is a fan favorite from the early years, but it wasn't played live at all from 2017 to 2023 when they unexpectedly resurrected it at Babymetal Begins. I was there to see it live and the crowd couldnt believe what they were hearing when it started because everyone had given up hope of ever seeing ever performed again. It's such a fun, crazy song and they look like they're having so much fun performing it.

Jaw drops is a perfectly normal reaction when first seeing iine, the look on your face when it switched to the rap sequence was priceless, which is possibly the oddest song in their catalogue. Who else could successfully mix metal, hiphop, Jpop etc in 1 song and have it work.
And those outfits 😍which is why people recommended the MV as they don't wear them for live as far as I know; they also don't always do the rap part.

Haha, great reaction. Iine! is Babymetal's 2nd song ever, and it is an amazing musical piñata that just hits you hard. The only thing that will hit harder is Babymetal's newest single, "Ratatata", releasing tomorrow, in collaboration with the German Techno/Metal band Electric Callboy!
Also, since you mentioned BMTH, they did a song "Kingslayer" with Babymetal that is amazing as well. Not sure if you've heard it, but I didn't see a reaction to it on your channel.

This song was included on a joint single with death pop band Kiba of Akiba released in early March of 2012.

BABYMETAL hadn't performed this one since they toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in April of 2017.
It was great that they brought it back for the PIA ARENA MM concert last year and have performed it several times since then.

I didn't say they were anime music, but the style and emotion they give off suits an animated show's opening or closing, because typically those songs are very over the top with feeling. It's not a crime to relate something to anime, and there is nothing wrong with anime. I am not being ill-informed or stereotypical by relating it solely because BABYMETAL is Japanese...any song that I feel like invokes strong emotion....be it rock, pop, kpop, jpop, edm, jrock, classical music....whatever (to me) can be an anime song. As someone who has lived in Japan and is getting her PhD in Communication , with an emphasis on Media Studies, particularly East Asian Popular Culture...I can assure you, I am not just some Westerner making stupid anime comments. Anime is art just like music is. Please don't look down on it if you haven't at least set your bias aside and given it a fair shot.
@@alexatakesalook You'll pardon me if I get a bit annoyed with reacters jumping on the anime bandwagon when they hear BABYMETAL - I see it happen far too often for my liking and, to me, it is a subliminal reaction simply because BABYMETAL is singing in Japanese and, by association, they jump to the conclusion that it "sounds" like anime music. Undoubtedly everyone has their own feelings about music and if some feel like BABYMETAL sounds like anime then so be it. However, it strikes me that their experience of Japanese music must be very limited.
Also, I have a great appreciation of anime but I do not live for it. On and off, I have been taking in those done by Studio Ghibli (among others) and, for the most part, I'm impressed. I am also impressed with your educational background (I wish you well with your doctorate) however, as the late great Carl Sagan once said: "Intellectual brilliance is no guarantee against being dead wrong." Something I, too, have learned over the ages.
Nevertheless, the important thing is you seem to have an appreciation for BABYMETAL and I sincerely hope you continue to do so - they are an amazing and mesmerizing group!

@Filboid2000 I totally understand that others have that initial reaction... thank you for explaining! That was not the intention for me at all and I hope it doesn't come across that way! There are a lot of songs I react to that are not Japanese that I feel like would make great openers for anime....for me, I mean that with respect because the song is powerful or emotional! Thank you for the heads up, though. I will try to explain more when I say things like that!

"Iine!" was their second song, according to the official releases. With this one, they made sure to not get pigeonholed in one genre or style. 😁
"Uki Uki Midnight" is also on their cutest side but I guess you also need to check out some other early but serious stuff, like their actual second song (according to live performances although released way later): "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): ua-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/v-deo.html This performance is also a very important piece of their history.

Yes one of the first songs that they ever produced. And we see whst kind of compromises Koba had to do to get something like Metal outbof them. A lot of managers would have either tried to use more force on the girls but he knew that they simply had fun and at the dame time they made tiny portions if metal with them
In long run they would simply remember we had fun whilecwe made metal for him
And at the same time Amuse was sarisfied. He did something exciting with them and produced results. It was all marketedvas Sakura Gakuin.

@@alexatakesalook Well it was the main purpose, he wanted to build an association : "I was a bit scared, but nothing really happened and I had fun. And nowadays Su is a bit of an Adrenalin Junky. She wants to shock her Fans from time to time. She simply has learned that it wakes her Fans up. But in Examples like Ratatata it simply works. It was obviously a quite eventful shooting. And this helped the video to become a more Balanced Product.
