  • The amazing Jet-Air threading system for the Baby Lock sergers / overlockers makes for quick easy threading.
    Index below.
    Index
0:00 - Introduction to the Baby Lock eclipse BLE1(DX) and the Jet Air Threading System.
    1:40 - Preparing for threading.
    3:12 - Starting threading.
4:23 - Explaining common problem with threading traditional sergers / overlockers.
7:05 - Explaining the looper threading control levers and button. Engaging the threading system.
9:07 - Looper threading and mechanism explanation.
16:37 - Needle threading and needle threader mechanism explanation.
    20:17 - Sew testing.
    21:28 - Threading speed run.
    25:35 - Conclusion.
The engineering that went into this design in incredible. Simply engage the jet-air threading system and push thread into the threading port, push down a lever and viola, a looper is threaded! Both upper and lower loopers can be threaded like this.
If that wasn't all, there is a needle threading mechanism for both needles. Just select which needle is to be threaded and engage the needle threader.
Traditional overlockers will have issues if the lower looper is threaded while the needle threads are wrapped around the lower looper. I have shown this issue in my video • Serger (Overlocker) Th... . This Baby Lock machine alleviates that issue because the thread is guided by the threading system behind the needle threads. Therefore you can thread loopers and needles in any order you like with no risk of causing a snarl up.
Check out my threading speed run near the end. I'm wondering how much faster the Jet-Air system makes threading compared to a traditional overlocker.

I've been using an eclipse for over twenty years, it is the best! I find it really helpful to use the little tweezers that come with the machine to hold the thread to easily insert the thread into the loopers. I was taught at a company training seminar that this method keeps the natural oils from your fingers from ending up in the looper airways and NEVER ever lick your thread. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. It makes sense that natural oils from fingers could foul the threading port.

I just called where I purchased my eclipse about 5 years ago. The owner told me to look in the envelope which came with the machine. Remove the tiny wire to put through the loopers and then attach the thread and pull everything thru. My machine now works perfectly!!!Again you need to do a video of this quick repair on the Eclipse. No, it is not for sale. I’m not sure whether I can just use the air vent again. But it is rarely necessary to put a thread in from scratch.

Thank you so much for explaining the issues with the lower looper and the two needle threads. I have an Elba serger and am having so many issues with that lower looper and the needles. Now I know why!

I loved this video. It helped me understand my eclipse that I am having trouble with. The air does not blow hard enough to get my threads into the piping and come out where they should. Something is wrong with my machine.

Maybe there's some dust or foreign matter in the bellows? It may need a service. Thanks.

@@InStitches thank you very much for your quick comment. I certainly got it working again. Maybe I have gotten rid of dust but maybe I don’t need to use the bellows at all. It would make it a tiny bit easier but the machine runs just fine now. Will let you know when day if I need to start from the beginning to thread my beautiful eclipse. I truly loved your complete video.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed video on threading the baby lock serger. I also have a similar baby lock serger (BL 55). I have threading problem. When I press the threading lever thread does not come out of the needle, it stops somewhere in the middle. I keep pressing the lever but to no avail. Please help me. By the way, I have cleaned the path way there is no obstruction. Best regards

Thank you so much for this video, i was pulling my hair out trying to thread my Babylock desire 3 without any joy. I'm still struggling with the fact that I thread it all up at once I sew with it, only the needle appears to work, I can't get it to overlock, I think it may be set wrong, but am having trouble finding where to refer to for guidance online.

Thank you so much for this video. I am a beginner and this is my first machine. Please excuse me if this is a dumb question but what are the cones for one the 4 pegs? I see that you left them on for the serger thread (the large thread). Do they typically come with serger thread or do they need to be purchased separately?

I am thinking of purchasing one. Thank you.

I just got a baby lock evolution and the stitch finger is so flimsy it bends when you pull the thread chain and it will skip the stitches and the stitch finger will get bent and almost break the needle because of the pull idk why they change the finger design on the evolution and I think evole ? I hoping on ordering the replacement part for the stitch finger hoping it’s more sold metal

I can’t get thread to go into ports more than 1/4 inch or so. How do you make the thread stiff or straight enough to go down 1 inch into the ports? Are there any tricks?

    • @InStitches
      @InStitches  3 роки тому

The thread should be able to be pushed in 1 inch unless there is a slight blockage in the port. Maybe the thread you're using is kind of fluffy if you know what I mean? That could cause issues too. Maybe try different thread?
