- One of the biggest complaints of Dragon Ball Super is the seeming lack of a timeskip. Trunks and Goten, for instance, are technically around 14 and 13, but still appear pretty much the same as they were when first introduced. What if instead of moving forward with the Granola arc, Dragon Ball decided to launch itself forward in time?

This is got me thinking me, maybe that's what Gohan lacked a rival to push him reason to get stronger, be it physically or academically.

actually, if you wanna get technical... due to Toriyama's artstyle change, goku's hair(as a kid) in the original DB had more spikes.

Only lore we have on hair is Vegeta's statement in the cell arc. He only said that Saiyan's hair stay the same since birth.
Could very well grow back to the same length if cut. I assume u think otherwise because on Nappa? Just like how Vegeta and goku shave their beard, nappa could had very well have been shaving his head.

It’s odd how the boys can’t go beyond super saiyan on their own at this point. Ssj was literal child’s play. Ss2 should have came after their training in the hyperbolic time chamber. They should be able to go ss3 for a short period of time at least. They slacked off worse than Gohan ever did.
I often think that when they turned super saiyan and everyone praised them a one point or an other, they just didn't want to progress due to nearly everyone thinking they were already so strong for kids and then they learn fusion which probably made them think they don't have to train as hard as they have a back up and they almost always get into the same fights and help one another. It's what I liked at the end of this video how trunks said to train separately for now.
It's not like that. To transform into Super Saiyan You need to mastered the SuperSaiyan Form. Get used to the Super Saiyan form and turn it just like a base form. That's why they will never be able to turn into SSJ2.
@@ivanhe They already mastered super saiyan. They both managed to obtain the form with ease and are seen in the form for long periods of time. If neither of them did, Gotenks wouldn’t have been able to go up to 3 . In fact, he would be in super saiyan grade 2 and grade 3.

In Buu Saga They were a lot of time using the Super Saiyan but as you know all the Buu Saga happened in a single day, that's not time enough to mastered a transformation. Goku and Gohan were like a year in SSJ to master it. After the Buu Saga Goten and Trunks didn't use the SSJ. Vs Bills or Beerus (It was Gotenks). They don't appear in Golden Frieza Saga in the next one they did nothing and the next one too and in the tournament of Power they didn't participate. In Broly movie they are just like "Hey, we were robbed by Frieza grunts... Whatever!". In Moro Saga they didn't even appear.
About Gotenks. (Before to continue with my arguments I gotta say that I'm saying this as I know SSJ3 can be obtain and how the fusion dance works, I could be wrong or not just saying) If two people fuse with the fusion dance the power and skills of the fusion will go beyond the capabilities of the two who fused. Goten and Trunks have a lot of S Cells and to get SSJ3 you need to have a lot of those and obviously have a huge power. If you take all of those S Cells Goten and Trunks have and put them in one Saiyan body you will get an strong Saiyan with a huge power (Actually stronger than Goku) and his possibilities to get new transformations that separately they could never achieve increased. And before fusing in Gotenks Goku showed them the SSJ3 so it's not too difficult for a fusion to transform into a form that it has the enough power to achieve and it has seen before.
So They didn't do anything to prove that they mastered the SSJ form so they can't turn into SSJ2. Sorry for the long reply but I really wanted to leave this clear.
@@ivanhe Trunks and Goten had the transformation long before the Buu arc started. The fact that they showed it off effortlessly, acted normal, wasn’t tired after tapping into it repeatedly shows that they mastered it during the time skip. If that’s inconclusive, they had almost 30 days before the tournament to master the form and they both trained with super saiyans that have already mastered the form. They also had two days to practice the fusion dance, learning to become equal and were given two weeks in the chamber to improve. That’s well over a month of training when they were already familiar with transforming. If neither of the boys mastered the form, Gotenks wouldn’t have been as strong as he was when he fought Buu. Even if he has double the potential, Gotenks still needs the muscle memory from both individuals to break his limits.
If you’re going by S-Cells cannon, they both should have the most S-cells out of all the saiyans in their universe. Going super saiyan at younger ages than Gohan pretty much shows that they have way more potential than him. If Caulifa can go ssj and ss2 within a day, Trunks and Goten should be able to reach ss2 and beyond within a shorter amount of time if they kept training or were in a high stakes situation.

What a beautifully written concept. I've always wanted to see an actual story of Goten and Trunks in their teen years (almost like with Gohan in the beginning of the Buu Saga), so I'm grateful for this. Super did not do those two justice at all.

the one thing that stuck with me was the kind of "slice of life" speeches Goku and Vegeta were giving; they WON'T be here forever, they aren't immortal. Time to start training the next generation

I think it’s the fact the Dragon Ball Story mostly focus around Goku, and stuff.

I love that Tapion is in this! Tapion is such a great character, and the fact we never get to see his actual strength....the dude was able to handle a massive more then 100 feet in size monster encased inside him for such a long period of time!
Yamcha's design is so good. I love they actually put some kind of respect on him.
He's not weak he's just surrounded by Inhuman God-level warriors that thirst for power.

Goten is 13 and Trunks is 14 at the end of Super. And their size makes sense considering Goku was 13/14 at the start of the series and was much shorter than Goten. People either seem to forget that or, most likely, alot of people have NEVER watched Dragon Ball, started the series in Z.

I think they should take the opposite path of what Goku and Vegeta did. They were rivals and thats what pushed them individually, but imo Trunks and Goten should get really strong as a team and individually. Make them strong as individuals but if they ever team up, make them really powerful as they would have the beat chimistry in all DB.
