i grew up idolizing gadd in the 70s. i really like his playing now too in his older age. its actually more accessible for us mere mortals. thanks for the front row seat to one of the world's greatest groovists. and the view down the front line with chick in the far back. priceless.
These guys always have so much fun when they are playing, it is like they surprise themselves everytime. Gadd and Chick, it's a lovable combination, everytime. Great position to shoot the whole thing, by the way!
That Steve Gadd groove, second to none! Just realized that I'd seen Chick live at this very location. Had a nice little chat with him in the green room after the gig, too. Nice memories!
Thank you so much for posting this. I was at the show last night but was in the bar. Never again will I do a bar seat at the Blue Note. Well it's not even a bar seat they just provide you standing room in the bar area. You can't see s*** and you're hearing the whole thing through those two PA speakers they got in the bar. Watching this at home on the big screen with the surround sound was a much more enjoyable experience especially considering I paid about 90 bucks all told last night to stand at the bar and have one drink.
Awesome stuff. I took my 11 year-old to see them at the Blue Note on Friday, 9/29 and we sat right next to Gadd, but in front of the stage. We were gobsmacked to see him play that close. Thanks for sharing. The sound is incredible!

I listened to this entire album earlier today and I’m just in love with it! Chinese Butterfly that is. It’s been out a few years now. I saw it at a record store on vinyl and had to have it, knowing nothing about it except for Chick, Gadd, and Lionel Loueke.
Wow... I'm digging this... Thanks for uploading this to UA-cam. Saw Gadd several times even though I'm still a teenager. Always good when these guys are playing small clubs. Way cooler than all these stadiums.
Two of the all time greats! Was introduced to Chick and Steve back in 1975, and never looked back. It's great the know that they are still cooking for us!
It’s the first song from the Chinese Butterfly album and it’s called Chick’s Chums. The album is so good from start to finish. There are tracks that are 15, 16, 17 minutes long! It’s really incredible! This same exact lineup.
