What a fantastic video! I have been skeptical of digital boards for a while now. This is starting to change that. I hope you make more videos like this!
What an awesome video series. Paul, I am much like you. I ran FOH for live acts from the early 80's until 1996. I started running FOH at our church on the SC Compact Si. What an eye opening experience how things have changed in the last 20 years. I looked for my rack compressors and gates only to discover they are on the console. I wish you made this video 3 years ago - it took me almost a year to really get to know the console and functionality. I will recommend that our music Director at church to show this to anyone that wants to be FOH.
+Keith R Thanks Keith, I will pass your comment on to Paul! Incidentally, whenever a company sells you a mixer like this, it is vital that they provide training too - that should be included in the price of the mixer and considered part of the after sales support deal. Digital mixers are all slightly different and at the moment they are not yet 100% intuitive to use. Maybe in another 10 years time ;)
Excellent 2 parts of this new tutorial on a digital board. Thank you once again for your clear way of explaining and demonstrating. Our small Performing Arts association needs a new board- it's about 30 years old. The volunteers who have been running it, until i took over this year, are Digital-phobic. I'll get them to watch these and hopefully ease their fears.
Random Mann You're welcome, glad to be of service. The SI compact is good for first time digital users because of the way in which every parameter in the channel strip has a physical knob for adjustment - as long as users remember to select the channel they want to adjust first it feels relatively analog in that respect.
Actually this mixer has been discontinued - the nearest replacement is the SI Expression featured in my more recent videos: ua-cam.com/play/PLcTpo3gc2RJzWrLgiofOEwgoLTbjZKQhN.html
Thank you very much for this excellent video. I now have to "transpose" this knowledge on our Yamaha 01v96 console.. ;) But I have learned a lot through your videos already. Thanks again and keep up good videos like these.
Moi Sexypierced You're welcome! The 01V96 is a much older design and it comes from a previous generation of digital consoles that were much less user friendly. However, once you get used to the interface it's perfectly usable. My biggest gripe with Yamaha consoles is that you do not have a full set of physical knobs in the EQ section - you have to select the band first. I've made some big mistakes in the heat of battle because of this!
Hi , thanks for the video its really informative and made was seemed like a difficult transition from analogue to Soundcraft Digital very easy to understand .
You're welcome, glad the video was helpful. Digital mixers are becoming easier to use all the time and there are very few disadvantages to using them when it comes to live sound.
I added a srm 150 to our choir loft so we could hear what the congregation was hearing. I used 13 out for the physical connection but couldn’t figure out the next step to send the signal to the output. I thought I had to do something in the main menu but was afraid I would mess up something else. So I figured out mix 13 and raised the faders to unity and voila sound! Not sure if that’s the best way but it worked!
This is a very good one..! Using Simple English ! I appreciate.. But still i have a question. For Example There are 2 live band, their EQ and volume are very different settings.. So we set for them in different ways.! But, after those 2 Bands perform, how will we switch or how will we go back to main and previous settings!?
The best option in this case is to create and save a separate show for each band - that way you will be able to recall the specific settings for each one as needed.
+CW Productions You're welcome :) If you would like to support the channel please consider signing up to become a patron at www.patreon.com/glbproductions?ty=h Every little bit helps!
Great VDO, I'm Planing to buy Soundcraft Si Impact, but I'm not sure if it going to be a same mic pre and same sound quality as Si Compact. Sorry for my poor English. Thanks you.
I have wanted to learn how digital mixers work for ages. Thank you for explaining this so beautifully. I would like to ask a couple of things please. I see your mixer has built-in Lexicon effects. Could you explain how these are used on this desk please? If you mute the reverb on a channel in the main PA, does this also mute the reverb in the monitor? This mixer is mind-boggling, but I guess by using it makes it sink in quicker. To be able to do a show and then recall my settings next time would be perfect for me. Thank you.
PhotoMusicMan You're welcome, glad you were able to follow the training. The effects are pretty simple to use - your route channels to the effects engine as you would to any bus, eg you press the FX1 button and then raise the faders of the channels that you want to be routed to that effect. The output of the effects engines can be assigned to any fader, which can then be assigned to any bus in the way you would assign a normal channel. Yes, muting the effects return will mute all sends, including the monitors, although that can also be customised. Incidentally, the SI-compact has been discontinued and replaced by the SI-expression, which looks to be almost the same console but with a different colour scheme ;)
can the auxes be assigned post or pre fader ....can any of the gate's- compression- eq ....be individually assigned to any of the auxes send channel....
GLB. Production I love what you are doing keep it up and remain bless in Jesus name. Please I want video training on Virtualizer 3D FX2000. Behringer thanks
Hi I got a soundcraft SI compact 32 and would like to know if I can use it in Africa where the power is 240 watts instead of america 125 watts thank you
PhotoMusicMan Yes, no problem - in fact this mixer has no specific aux outputs - the outputs on the back can be programmed any way you want, so they can be aux outputs, matrix outputs, mono or stereo. This is one of the great strengths of digital mixers, the signal routing is so flexible.
Hi I have complete yamaha speaker systems and i am using Yamaha MGP32x analog mixer. Can we use sound craft SI compact mixer with Yamaha speakers S215v series.
Depends on what you need, they're all slightly different. It's rather like cars - depends what you need and what you prefer. However for a general purpose entry level digital mixer the A&H Qu series are very good indeed.
Sure Yasin - the Si expression is the replacement for the Si compact which has been discontinued. The Si Impact is the top of the line mixer in the Si series - more features, channels etc.
GLB Productions I've reset the factory but still I found no gain on each Fader mixer how to activate it? ...... and this new mixer has never been used.
GLB productions The seller's problem they did not understand how his operation caused her no expert, and the time to buy is not the special agent soundcraft,
What a fantastic video! I have been skeptical of digital boards for a while now. This is starting to change that. I hope you make more videos like this!
+Seth D. Meyers Thanks for watching! Yes I have a couple of videos coming up very soon on the Allen and Heath QU32 digital mixer - stay tuned!

this mixer is amazing and beautiful to look at highly recomend it to any band

@@GLBProductions The Expression, Performer and Impact boards are now reaching End of Life. Soundcraft may or may not make new Si series boards.

I too learned a bunch from your videos thanks so much
You're welcome Tim!

Yes the way to send individuals signals is the same for all the outputs. The only difference is whether the output is set to be pre- or post-fader.
Excellent............. thank you .
tharanga prabath You're welcome, thank you for watching.

Hi, Can you show how to save the settings in the MMC? Thanks
I'm afraid that I no longer have access to this mixer, so no. Sorry about that.
Thanks very much. So the solo button works as the PFL on analogues? (Provided the mixer is in its appropriate mode)
+CW Productions Yes it works as a PFL button on the input channels and as an AFL button on the outputs.
+GLB Productions Ok cool thanks :)

+numsurapon I suggest you contact your local Soundcraft dealer and enquire about those details :)

GLB Productions Thank you for your kind reply. I looked at the Soundcraft site and could not see the Compact - I wondered where it had gone!
Very helpful friend,
When is third part is coming?
There are only two parts to this training series :)
can the auxes be assigned post or pre fader ....can any of the gate's- compression- eq ....be individually assigned to any of the auxes send channel....
Yes, all busses can be pre or post fader. Every input and output has both a gate and compressor.
GLB. Production I love what you are doing keep it up and remain bless in Jesus name. Please I want video training on Virtualizer 3D FX2000. Behringer thanks
trying to find the exact mixer in the video to buy. but when i go on the company website the Si impacts look different from the one in the video
Yes, the SI Compact has been discontinued and replaced with the SI Impact series.
Hi I got a soundcraft SI compact 32 and would like to know if I can use it in Africa where the power is 240 watts instead of america 125 watts thank you
It depends on the power supply in the mixer - the correct input voltage will be stated on the back panel.
Sorry, I forgot to ask. Can I link 2 aux outs so that I can send a stereo mix to wired in-ear monitors please? Thank you.

PhotoMusicMan You're welcome :)
Hi, just have one question, can this board do pre eq to aux (bus) send, so when I change channel eq I don't want my bus eq change..
+numsurapon I'll get back to you on that one the next time I use this particular mixer.
hello. can i do multitrack recording in logic pro? and can i control fader from logic pro mixer?
+surren leo I'm sorry I don't know - that sounds like a question for the experts at Soundcraft!
+GLB Productions so sad. thx btw :)
Hi I have complete yamaha speaker systems and i am using Yamaha MGP32x analog mixer. Can we use sound craft SI compact mixer with Yamaha speakers S215v series.
Yes no problem at all - your mixer and speakers do not have to be from the same brand.
Thanks
I see you teach about a lot of different digital mixers witch one do you prefer the most
Depends on what you need, they're all slightly different. It's rather like cars - depends what you need and what you prefer. However for a general purpose entry level digital mixer the A&H Qu series are very good indeed.
Sir please could you please tell me
What is the difference between
si impact si compact si expression
Sure Yasin - the Si expression is the replacement for the Si compact which has been discontinued. The Si Impact is the top of the line mixer in the Si series - more features, channels etc.
Dear, Do you have a training video for SI IMPACT or Others video Training part 3 4 5...
Thanks you very much, I find your channel is very interesting.
Why did you not show setting up the main l+r eq settings
Yes, there were quite a number of things we did not cover due to time constraints.
Is this mixer has parametric EQ Analyzer?
It has parametric EQ but I'm not sure about an analyser.
What if pader no aktif. What is the solution?.....
+Ajik Setiawan Try and restart the mixer to begin with. If this does not work do a factory reset.
GLB Productions
I've reset the factory but still I found no gain on each Fader mixer how to activate it? ...... and this new mixer has never been used.
+Ajik Setiawan Sounds like you need to contact the person who sold you the mixer and get these problems sorted out.
