It's a reporters job to inform the public. When you have police say that there isn't a risk to the public, when they haven't arrested anybody, then they back track on that, the public has every right to question their competency. I think those 5 investigators were testing potentially destructive theories. Stuff that couldn't be done with potential evidence in the house. Banging doors, breaking locks, etc. To try to see if anyone in any of the rooms could hear. That's why there were 5 of them, stationed around the house. See if anything peculiar stands out to question the roommates, to possibly jog their memories and gain a clue.
Notice how the 5 guys keep their heads down and have hoods or hats pulled low. These guys are bad ass. Very different than normal law enforcement, including FBI agents.

I think those 5 investigators were testing potentially destructive theories. Stuff that couldn't be done with potential evidence in the house. Banging doors, breaking locks, etc. To try to see if anyone in any of the rooms could hear. That's why there were 5 of them, stationed around the house. See if anything peculiar stands out to question the roommates, to possibly jog their memories and gain a clue.

Notice how the 5 guys keep their heads down and have hoods or hats pulled low. These guys are bad ass. Very different than normal law enforcement, including FBI agents.
