    When I removed my intake and ride plate to add anti-seize I saw that the big cavities on the sides of the ride plate were holding water.. salt water even and it had a lil corrosion. I sand blasted off all the corrosion on my plate and filled the cavities up with silicone so water would not get in, stand, sit and start corroding. You can see on your stock plate how the cavities have turned color from water standing in them. You might want to do the same on your Riva plate. I applied anti-seize to a bunch of bolts below the water line. That salt water corrosion starts the first time its dipped on the water, and never stops even with flushing and washing.
    Good video btw. So how much speed did you gain with just the ribbon delete??? and how much more with the ride plate and intake??

      Don Juan I noticed the same cavities but I mostly ride in fresh so I’m not as concerned. But great idea! Stock I was running 59-60 mph, ribbon delete & exhaust 63-64, ride plate 66-67. I only have around $200 invested in upgrades so needless to say, I’m very happy with the results at that price. A little elbow grease can save you a lot of $$$

      @@drizzyfam3893 only 200? I need to get my parts from your supplier. I saw on riva just the ribbon delete and flame arrestor was 259.00 You got a good deal on the parts.

      Don Juan no riva parts needed. Check out my page first video of mods. Also, the handling package link is in the description. It’s the stock grate and plate for 2019 gp1800. Bolts right on newer vx hulls. You don’t have to get the grate, that’s more for better hookup in rough water. The plate alone will get you the speed and better handling

    Ciao drizzy. intake grate e ride plade gp 2019 compatible vx 2020?

    • @drizzyfam3893
      @drizzyfam3893  2 роки тому

      It should be compatible with all 2020 VX hulls considering that Yamaha includes this same package on the 2020 GP. But as with any mod, please do your research before buying it.

      @@drizzyfam3893 no worries. I just did the GP handling package and the issues I’m having is the speedometer not reading correctly and bouncing from the front of the ski at top speed? I also noticed a delay in stopping after doing this upgrade.

      @@Dmir2010 sorry to hear you didn’t get the results you wanted. The gp handling package is great for choppy water which is what I mostly rode in. It really calmed the ski down at higher speeds. If I remember correctly, the highest speed I achieved was with the stock grate and gp ride plate on flat water. But I found that wasn’t a good representation of normal everyday riding.

      @@drizzyfam3893 I just installed the gp ride plate and grate, however they dont line up exactly, the grate is maybe a 1mm or 2 lower than the plate, is that normal? Did yours line up perfectly? Did you use sealant? Did you use any kind of pump seal kit to fill the cavities? Where there shims used? Thanks!

    • @drizzyfam3893
      @drizzyfam3893  2 роки тому +1

      @@wllytibe3327 so if I’m reading correctly, your ride plate is slightly recessed. If that’s the case, it’s normal and reduces any drag that would occur at the seam. I just made sure my angle lines were not offset so that everything lined up center to the hull.

      I also found that while the aggressive design of the intake grate performed very well in rough water, the stock grate in combination with extended ride plate was the fastest in calm water. I would actually swap them out depending on what body of water I’m headed to and expected condition.

      I bought the same one you did off greenhulk. However the Riva one comes with reinforcement brackets . Should I buy these brackets for the green hulk one . Does your grate and plates need any reinforcement . Or you never had a problem ? Thank bro I loved your videos . I’m doing all the stuff to my ski now that you did except the ribbon . Hoping to get another 5-7 mph out of everything but the ribbon

      Also do you recommend a new solas impeller or no

    • @drizzyfam3893
      @drizzyfam3893  4 роки тому +1

      Jay Lee I didn’t get the reinforcements and haven’t had any issues. I will tell you that I’ve since then put the stock grate back on with GP ride plate and I get a little more top end. If I’m headed out to a choppy lake, I’ll throw the GP grate back on. It performs like a champ in rough water

    • @drizzyfam3893
      @drizzyfam3893  4 роки тому +1

      Jay Lee I haven’t upgraded the impeller yet so I couldn’t say. I would imaging you could get a little more top speed out of changing the pitch as long as you’re easily hitting your rev limit. There’s some give and take with impeller upgrades so do your research first before dumping money on one

      KonTiki Nomads good for you. It takes far more going wrong than a backfire and no ribbon for it to explode. Ribbon delete is very common and there’s no documented explosions due to a lack of the ribbon that I’m aware of. And yes, I researched before removing
