  • The Marttiini Sissi, sissispuukko Knife from Finland, mini Bowie style high quality utility knife for a good price. The blade is teflon coated to make it very smooth.
    www.marttiini.f...
    The stainless steel used by Marttiini is easy to maintain as a blade material. A stainless steel blade remains sharp for long. Chromium makes up 13% of the steel mixture and the hardness of the mixture is 53-54 Rockwell units (HRC). A diamond sharpener is recommended for sharpening chromium steel.

    I used this knife when i was in military and i have to say that its probably one of the best knifes that i have ever used! Its sturdy and durable. In my opinion the biggest issue is that leather sheath, it should be something like cydex or plastic.

    • @verysurvival
      @verysurvival  7 років тому

      yeah would be good with a plastic option

    Thanks for this interesting review. I like Marttiini knives, having bought my first, a "Lynx", whilst on a scout camp in 1966. It served me faithfully for about 30 years, till somebody nicked it. I have a Marttiini "Big Game" martef coated knife, which I have had about 10 years. It would appear to be identical to the "Sissi" knife, except that the handle and scabbard are green, the blade having a greyish finish. If Marttiini were to produce slightly "beefed up" version of the Sissi, it would probably be all the knife most of us will ever need.

    • @verysurvival
      @verysurvival  7 років тому

      Hi, o yeah a beefed up version if this would be interesting, I think the Big Game is basically the same knife like you say

    • @Embrabrummie
      @Embrabrummie 7 років тому

      I have just sent for the "Sissi" model from "Lamnia", who currently have them on sale for under £33. What I mean about a "Beefed up" version, is that the blade is thin, excellent for slicing, but if a version was produced with a thicker blade, say, 4 MM, this would make it suitable for a wider variety of applications in the outdoors.

    • @verysurvival
      @verysurvival  7 років тому

      under 33 ?, good deal. yeah I would try the beefed up version

    War Movie is Winter War ( Winterkrieg , German DVD Version and Schlacht um Finnland, Bejond the Frontline on UA-cam ), some German War Books and a Landser have Storys over the Sissi. On Pinterest, you see Fotos from the Winter War and 41/45. The Knive is ok, i use it from 1999. Condor Hunter.

  • @Embrabrummie

    I have just received my Marttiini Sissi knife. Other than the colour, the only differences between this and the "Big Hunter Martef" which I have had for 10 years or so, is that the ferrule / guard is made of plastic rather than brass, and the leather of the scabbard is noticeably thinner. However, I think the knife is cheaper now than a decade ago. Although this knife is well made and comes very sharp, I feel that calling it "Sissi" puts it in the same category as the "Peltonen" or "Jaakaripuukko", both of which are reviewed on "You Tube". These are both considerably thicker, and more robust. As an ex-para, I would not feel confident that this knife could take the abuse that either of these alternatives can. Were I still serving, the "Jaakaripuukko", at a similar price, would be my choice.

  • @Oozy9Millimeetah
    @Oozy9Millimeetah 7 років тому

    After testing this out, like it even better, its lightweight and the handle is excellent i have large hands this just felt right and good grip. I have plenty of "better" knives too, like jääkäripuukko 140, CS srk 3v, just to name few. But for a hike like the one I just did this was enough for making a little fire, so i didnt have to eat my sausages cold 😋. I must admit im little 🤓🤓 nerdy for tactical looking knives too😁

      Tuo ei taida olla sissipuukko. Marttiinilla oli muutama vuosi sitten tarjous jossa he myivät niiden pioneeripuukon samassa setissä tuluksien kanssa, tämä jätkä on varmaan vain sekoittanut nimet, tai kyseinen puukko on nimetty väärin paikassa mistä hän sen osti.
