I just recieved the black fms k5 and quickly installed brass wheel rings on all 4 corners and also added 15w silcone shock oil with the provided o-rings and greased up the portal gears (they were kind of dry). Awesome video and beautiful r/c trucks!

bearings for sure smooth out the TRX4m - BUT until you put a brushless kit inside, it will always have a bit of lag or a "break" point where the drivetrain and wheels overcome the resistance. - In the real world of off-roading/overlanding, there is lag when going over things. More power needed always to manage an obstacle.
Even though the FMS Blazer is marked as '1/24 scale'....I measured mine down into the appropriate size and it comes closer to 1/19 scale because of the larger body size!
Overall, even compared with the modded Traxxas, the FMS performs in similar way and looks much better. Also the quality is higher. Once you put a couple upgrades on the K5, it will leave the TRX4m in the dust.
I have both the K5 Blazer, and the TRX4M Defender, and of the two I would have to say fun factor goes to the K5 but durability, and parts availability would have to go to the Traxxas. The word on the street is since Traxxas lifted their "Cease and desist," Hot Racing maybe coming out with a two speed for the TRX4M. Just something I got told by a salesman at one of the hobby shops I go two.
Hey! Maybe you could help me with something. I recently bought my best buddy the K5 blazer and after one run, it won't go forward or reverse. However, he still has steering. You also cannot hear the rc when changing between gears. I've tried balancing the throttle with the plus and minus, but still no luck. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! And love the videos
2 possibilities i believe could be happening, was the motor and battery ever accidentally plugged into the wrong slot? (Plug battery into motor and vise versa) Or the small wire pin piece on the servo , that hooks the 2 speed pin together, could have popped out of the pin hole. Other than that.. double check the motor still works and that all the wires are in the proper place. I had that happen with my SCX24 Glatiator, just plugged in my buddies battery to test if it was completely dead and it fried my ESC😅 Not totally sure why but truly hope this helps! If nothing or if you find it, come let me know please?🤘🤘

And that's an absolute fact🤘 its amazing how much slack is in there. With the light weight aspect of the stock K5, its just so smooth🙌
