Who are the 76 people who didn't like this video? This is the most informative wallpapering video I have seen and I watched at least 20 of them. Excellently done. Thank you for the BEST video on this subject.
Very impressive Master Class. Information was concise and to the point. Great delivery by the instructor and a thumbs up to the person who shot and complile the material for the video.
Excellent tutorial. I've never wallpapered before but recently i decided i'd like to. Having watched this clip, i think i understand a lot more about dos and donts. For my first attempt i'm opting for a lining paper and pre mixed paste. After that any errors will have to be on me! Thank you to the author of this clip - it is super helpful, i've spent ages trying to understand how to wallpaper and you helped me to feel ready (equipped with info) enough.
So much work and so many considerations. I frequent Las Vegas. All the modern hotels have completely wallpapered rooms and bathrooms. It baffles me to think how long it would have taken to wallpaper all those rooms (thousands) when building the hotels. Perhaps the walls are pre-wallpapered before delivery. Can’t imagine an army of men wallpapering every inch of a hotel. Great video.
I followed this guide and it worked a treat, that tip about pasting paper and leaving it 8 mins to absorb the paste (if relevant for your paper) is a good one, ignore it at your peril!
Tks so much for this clear and concise explanation of do's and don'ts, for what seems like a straightforward endeavour! I am worried but need to just get on with it! Amazing presentation makes it so watchable, along with good script, and no awfully loud music - thanks all!
Good explanation, all very good and I agree with everything apart from the 1mm gap on lining.... if you butt joint the lining and allowed to dry and then you see a 'ridge' from it slightly overlapping due to poor trimming of the lining, You'd easily sand those off when you check over the wall prior to hanging the final wallpaper.
Very interesting. I have a question. Why don't the wallpaper need soaking time when you put the adhesive directly to the wall. One would think it would also expand when getting the moisture from the wall right? Should one not wait a little before hanging the next panel? Is soaking time (of non woven wallpaper) isn't an issue when putting the paste on the wall instead of the paper, this sounds like hands down the easiest options of the two.
I can't seem to find a video about this question: Can you hang wallpaper on the same wall as a baseboard heater? We have all kids of old paper in our house on walls with baseboard heaters. We like the wallpaper look and want to hang new paper, but I'm reading that you shouldn't hang on a wall with an electric baseboard. The walls in questions have small 36" heaters. Thoughts?
As I see I’ve done some wall papering following you instruction the problem I found is that using a straight edge it still tears the paper even tho I snapped the blade evry third paper and matching it up at the end of the room even tho I go around the wall for 5mm
I've only ever papered one wall and that was a disaster, i didn't realise about soak times and got the bubbles you mentioned at 17:35. Now i have a wallpaper that has a 10 minute soak time so i will leave it for 15 minutes so it can soak and expand, now when i hang the paper then paste a second roll and leave that for 15 minutes, when i hang the secong paper up next to the original paper, will that dry and set ok without it shrinking and leaving a small gap?
Hello to Trade Professionals, Master Class I have just seen your UA-cam video and i believe it is fantastic on every aspect of the subject matter. Thank you very much for my enlightenment to the art
Should or can you paint the paper lining? In case of shrinking at the seams a similar shade of paint would/could help minimize any gaps due to hanger inexperience. Would such painting cause interference with glue sticking to the paper lining? And finally, could you do a tutorial on grass cloth paper hanging? It is my most preferred paper to have but it would seem to me to be very problematic due to the fragile and unwashable surface texture. Thanks a bunch in advance for any additional advice you can provide.
Hi there, may I ask whether paste needs to be applied to wallpaper only, to walls or to both wallpaper and wall? I am unsure since I am seeing both being applied. Cheers
with regards to the lining paper, should it still be taken around corners. I assume I shouldn't put the lining paper to the edge of the wall but instead take it around the corner of the wall onto the other wall just like I would with the proper wallpaper that goes on afterwards?
BlackbirdGirl72 unless you’ve got a good square corner I wouldn’t go round the corner with lining paper, there’s no need it won’t be seen. If you do go round the corner and the walls not perfect it could bubble and it would show on the finished paper.
If you’ve lined the walls you don’t need ready mixed paste, I’ve always mixed paste myself and I’ve never had a problem, and secondly if you leave any gap with lining paper it will show through under certain lighting conditions, just be careful when butting lining paper up and you won’t have a problem.
At $350 a roll why cut corners on the paste? Or anything else for that matter. A bit like buying a new Rolls and putting on retreads for the tires! Because you suddenly want to save a few bucks!
My trade is Painter/Decorator, not a bad video but doesn't inform people how to hang vinyl wall coverings that are 54 inches wide, as I am at the moment OR how to negotiate awkwark cuts around certain decorative covings, beams etc! Otherwise good for beginners.

Hello from the future! This video has blown my mind and is by far the best I've seen on the subject.
this is the best step by step video of anything i’ve ever watched. genius.
As a time served Decorator, I Love the idea of wallpapers gorging themselves like catapillers till they are full, very clear and precise. AAA+
Thank you. I am thinking of wallpapering my living room but scared, and now you have taught me the basics. Good presentation. I learned a lot.
What A Great WP video and Tutorial!!! Thank you for all your tips and instructions.

Doesn't tell you EVERYTHING...trust me, I'm a Decorator myself, some trade secrets are kept quiet or we'd have no work! LOL.

Thats the best camera I've seen to produce such a low resolution video!

I know right? Why do people do this?
@@Anonymous-vh6kp I mean it was almost 7 years ago...
Do you have a tutorial on hanging untrimmed 54" fabri c wallcovering with pattern?
Very much helpful as I'm putting in my best to become a professional wallpaper hanger, I wish to know the step by step procedures 📋
Thank you so much for such an informative video!
Amazing and informative video, helped me so much when I wallpapered at the weekend compared to the problems I had last time I tried this!
best one I have seen yet.
Fantastic tutorial, really good advice for all levels.

So you want to be a Decorator that doesn't REALLY know what he's doing!? Nice. You should probably think before u tell people your clueless! LMAO!

Well, I guess i won't be hanging my own wallpaper. Thought it would be easy, looks like I need a degree. Thank you so much
Brilliant advice. Thank you so much. X
Thanks for the video, this advise made for a really nice job today. 👍🏻
Can you bring this training to Ghana,
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you very much indeed.
Very informative. Much appreciated.
Great comprehensive guide, cheers
How do you prep walls that have painted wallpaper? The paint is matt acrylic and I want to hang straight over the top. Cheers!
nailpolishinhale IDK if you’ve done your wall but you’d have to slighty smooth down the paint this would have to be with sandpaper and water.
nailpolishinhale Of you could put lining paper before putting the actual paper down.
Thank you! Informative, clear, really helpful.
what a great tutorial, thank you for the lesson ,i see we cant learn finish
Why music over voice ? i am trying to listen to what he say's ?
Very good video

I was referring to normal wallpaper not rolls Royce wallpaper!
Why didn’t he show how he finished the wall when he turned the corner?
Excellent video!
Thanks for posting this great Video.
Not one mention of priming wall first? 🙄
Pretty sure I just did everything wrong before watching this. Hope it doesn't shrink too much!
Darn good show ! thank you!

Why are all trade videos filmed on a potato? It baffles the mind.
Nice
Excellent tutorial if it wasn't for the annoying background music. Cannot hear half of what he is saying.
Just briiliant advice!!
Very irritating music/noise.
