1956 Evinrude Lark 30 h.p. Water pump and gear oil change

How to on replacing the gear oil, and water pump on the old 56 Lark. The process is similar to all 1950's to some 60's OMC outboards greater than 10 h.p.

Great tutorial! As I began to put the lower unit back on, I found what appears to be part of a seal falling down into the midsection. What is it and where does it go?

Hmmm. I'd have to look at a parts manual to see. It could be an old water tube seal.

Yep! ya gotta grease it for a little extra protection for when you first start it up.

thank you for this video! i have a urgent question. i have the exact same motor, and it wont reach its full rpms in the watter. it used to get to 30 mph quickly, but now it only does 10-15. ever had that issue?

Have you tried adjusting the carburetor? I would turn in the adjusting screws slightly. Mine did the same thing it was boggy until I had it out on the lake and turned the screws in at wide open throttle until it bogs way down then quickly turn the screw back out a quarter turn.

Hmmm. Could be a few different things. Could be ignition isn't as strong as it once was, Could be the carb needs cleaning.
