Vinegar removes light rust VERY WELL, but it also removes all protective platings and coatings. So, as soon as you remove it from the vinegar you’ll need to do something to prevent flash rusting. I rinsed my parts throughly with water and a brush, lightly rubbed them down with some penetrating oil, and then applied rusty metal primer on them.
