CONTEXT this was released during the time BTS was receiving a sh*tstorm of hate. So they are appreciative and apologetic not because of their personal limitations but because of these external factors since ARMY also has to go through it. Suga's verse is quoted because those are example of hate they received, so his verse pretty much set up the context for the whole song. So yes, this is them singing to us, their fans, that it will be okay. But what makes this song a lot more special is, when done live, that we are also singing this to them that it will be okay despite everything. So the comfort goes both ways.

2016, I was in an episode of depression because the 29 year-old me learned from my doctor that I cannot bear a child anymore---- when browsing through UA-cam, I came across a lyric video of 2!3!. . there is just something so reassuring about not being given false hope that everything will be okay. I just felt like I needed to hear those exact words at that exact moment and here I am five years into being an ARMY. This goes to show that BTS will come into your life when you need them the most and I and a lot of ARMYS I personally know are living proofs of that. :) appreciate this reaction video so much..Thank you..
Interesting fact: RM shared in June during their 2021 FESTA (that's BTS debut anniversary events) that he never publicly acknowledged the hard times BTS and ARMY had in 2015, 2016 & 2017. He said It was tough for them and their fans. There were many people who hated them and ARMY were trying so hard to protect them and BTS tried harder than anyone else to prove themselves! Can you imagine? BTS were still kids being so hated and bullied by other fandoms and people in the industry! This was their first official OT7 fan song included on a Korean album. V invented the saying "Borahae/I purple you", after the "Purple Ocean Project" that ARMYs did during a Muster (fanmeeting festival), the event (suprising BTS by lighting up their lightsticks with purple colored paper bags) took place during the BTS's 3rd Muster (fan-meeting concert party) in Seoul, while BTS was singing 2! 3!... Big Hit got the idea of making ARMY bombs that could change colors during concerts from that incident (and from the following "Rainbow Ocean Project" done by ARMYs in Brazil). According with V's explanation, borahae means "I will trust and love you for a very long time, because it's the last color of the rainbow". Anyways, for these various reasons, "2!3! (Hoping For More Good Days)" is a legendary track on BTS and ARMY's journey. My favorite part is J Hope's verse, because it's so vulnerable and it feels like someone opening up to you: "Me in the shadow behind the stage, me in the darkness I didn’t want to show you everything including my pain, but I was still too awkward and clumsy I wanted to make you only smile I wanted to do it well (So thanks) for believing in someone like me, for bearing the tears and wounds (So thanks) for becoming my light, for becoming that flower in the most beautiful moment in life." All the lyrics are beautiful though. There's lines in Magic Shop (which is a more recent fan song) that are reminiscing of this track.
Actually this song was kinda banned among Korean armys for it just pierced their heart so bad. At concerts no one could hold back their tears when they sang this song... As the boys recently confessed, it was literal nightmare back in 2015-2017 for korean fans, as well as bts. It is amazing they could keep going despite all those pains, trauma and humiliations

J-hope's verse will always hit differently on this song. You can feel every word being struck to your heart. You can now see why it means so much to me and all ARMYs. You didn't watch the performance where BTS noticed the purple bags that ARMY had placed over their ARMY BOMBS to change the color. BTS was so surprised and touched. That performance is where Taehyung created the meaning behind purple. Which became I purple you and the 💜 purple hearts
It is actually telling the fans to bear with them the hate that they were receiving. They still do but it's different when you were not at the top but struggling against roadblocks to survive. They are also acknowledging the support of Army. In their recent army corner talk during Fiesta 2021 they came out openly saying that even Army suffered at that time because they were confronting all that online hate. One can say everyone receives hate but when there is no solid backing behind, and it gets harmful it is a totally different story. This hatred loomed over them for years till around 2017 when they rose above these looming clouds, which were still there. BTS DON'T CALL THEMSELVES IDOLS: They have always been striving to destroy the idol image.
I think it is hard to interpret the song, if you don‘t have the context. You were right with the bounding and connecting with the fans and got the vibe of the song. But they were not sorry for ARMYs, because they are nor perfect, but because of the hardships they and ARMY faced. At that time BTS got so much hate. RM confirmed in the recent Festa that 2015-2017 were the hardest years. They were publicly humiliated and disrespected in South Korea and they fought against it by working harder while ARMY protected them instead. So to that time ARMY had been bullied and discredited just as BTS for standing up against them. People couldn‘t even say that they are ARMYs, because they were bullied for this. Jin said in a livestream that he also felt sorry for ARMY at that time. BTS released this song to comfort them and give them strength.

Hey guys, glad you enjoyed this song. It has a special place in our hearts. Many have commented this already but this song was written primarily as a way to comfort fans during a time in their careers where there was an uptick in the hate and backlash they were getting. They always want to protect ARMYs and ARMYs always want to protect them so this was their way of saying thank you and comforting us fans. This song has taken on a happier meaning now than it did when it was released; then it was a solemn soft of comfort but these days it is more of a happy reassurance that we have each others backs through all the ups and downs. K-armys especially have a tendency to sing this while waiting for the boys to come out on stage, those are some of my favorite concert clips to watch.

This is why Hobi says thank you for being the flower during this time. Despite all the hate this was also a time when they were experiencing a lot of growth and success that they had not seen before; they and many of us never thought we would reach the levels we did back then let alone now.
BTS are unique Army are unique. I have heard so many stories of people being helped by one or both of them (myself included) A lot of those people go on to help others. They affect lives positively on a daily basis. The hate will always be there and always diminished by everything BTS and Army do!

In early days bts were 'punished' for not going through established industry channels. They were from a small company when other big companies 'ruled' the k music industry...so the fact bts were gaining popularity was upsetting the status quo at the time. The established companies/ media orgs couldn't partake in any financial gain from bts success so they were undermined every step of the way. Do you know that there was fan account for collecting receipts of physical CD until early 2017? Several fandom attacked BTS and ARMY making and using rumors.(ex: sajaegi..) So we have to collect receipts because of showing evidence against sajaegi rumor. It's really small part of our hardship. 😭 2015,2016.. 2017.. really hard time. This song is first official fan song. Normally.. Fansong lyrics is how much they love fan in kpop. But BTS said "It’s okay come on when I say one two three forget it. The other way around, BTS still shows thankfulness to the fans, to this day. Everytime they go public they say “thank you army”, because they know that without us there would be no BTS. And they mean it in their hearts as well! In all the hours of content I watched I never ever heard them say anything disrespectful about army, not in word, not in gesture, not in a look. Not ever. The birth of this song is truly sad. One of the nightmare memories for both BTS n army in those years especially 2015 to 2018. So they knw abt the hate n criticism they getting frm their debut day but what they really sad about was army getting n going through a lot of hate by protecting BTS so they wrote this song for us. Whenever they performed this song we all cried and this year festa they promised to perform this song again one day in front of us.
This song is for the fans and the relationship we have with them, because we go through many things, the boys have had to put up with a lot of hate and as they have said themselves they knew about all this and saw how we tried to defend them without much success, since at that time we were not a big fandom and many other fandoms did a lot of damage to the boys.
One of my favourite things about bts is that they don't do that irresponsible optimism that comes with just telling someone to cheer up and be happy - they say look there might be days when you get hurt but here's to the hope that there are more good days than bad and that's much more close at hand to me than just infinite optimism
I became ARMY a little over a year ago. I never heard of them before 2020. After hearing Black Swan I became Army not knowing that I had 😊. When I first heard this song I got so emotional and still can’t understand why even now they get so much hatred, and disrespect. I will stick with them because they are so humble and they never forget ARMY. RM was so right where in Butter he says “got ARMY right behind us if we say so” we are there and this song to me is is so heartfelt and I wish I had been there at the very beginning.

"BTS & ARMY are the same thing just different spelling" - RM 2021 It may be selfish to express it this way but the pain/hate BTS went through ARMY endured it too, especially 2015-2017 I can't listen to this song without crying, it's one of those songs for ARMY that stood by them and are still with them now that just hits different. What was so heartbreaking but also inspiring was the fact that BTS was trying so hard to comfort us even with pained expressions and so it made us want to protect them back to the point where we clung to eacother and became eachothers inspiration. Someone in the comments mentioned it was like "going to war" and that is NOT an exaggeration. I remember in one interview I believe it was RM who said something along the lines of "I want our fans to hold there head high when they say they're ARMY" this was the first song that was dedicated to us (ARMY) and I think that's why it makes it that much more special but honestly idk if I could handle hearing it live but it holds a very special place in my heart to this day 💜

BTS has always said that them and army are climbing up a mountain together holding each others hands & this song has helped a lot of people climb over a lot of hardship.
You missed the mark on Suga's verse. His verse quoted directly what haters and critics say about BTS, and how fans who has been with them, has heard the same remarks made, and have gotten hurt together with BTS. But I agree that the colouring of the subs probably didn't help much. 2016-17 was a very hard time for BTS, because it was peak hatred towards them, as many other kpop fans saw them as a threat, and was attacking them and ARMY badly online. Hence they wrote this song as a comfort for their fans. The montage video behind them is actually video clips of them in their earlier days. It was a clip of RM writing lyrics during their short breaks between performances. The writing on the video you rewinded on was supposed to say "For A Better Day.." I think it was hand-written by someone, and didn't come across clearly..

To this day nothing triggers me more than people saying crap about Bts those few years 15,16,17 were horrible and to know this was they're own citizens talking about kids. The GP was not really aware of bts back then, since they blew up in the us a little earlier than in korea (they did concerts in the usa from 2014). this was released during the time BTS was receiving a sh*tstorm of hate. So they are appreciative and apologetic not because of their personal limitations but because of these external factors since ARMY also has to go through it. Suga's verse is quoted because those are example of hate they received, so his verse pretty much set up the context for the whole song.
So yes, this is them singing to us, their fans, that it will be okay. But what makes this song a lot more special is, when done live, that we are also singing this to them that it will be okay despite everything. So the comfort goes both ways.

This was their first official OT7 fan song included on a Korean album. V invented the saying "Borahae/I purple you", after the "Purple Ocean Project" that ARMYs did during a Muster (fanmeeting festival), the event (suprising BTS by lighting up their lightsticks with purple colored paper bags) took place during the BTS's 3rd Muster (fan-meeting concert party) in Seoul, while BTS was singing 2! 3!... Big Hit got the idea of making ARMY bombs that could change colors during concerts from that incident (and from the following "Rainbow Ocean Project" done by ARMYs in Brazil). According with V's explanation, borahae means "I will trust and love you for a very long time, because it's the last color of the rainbow". Anyways, for these various reasons, "2!3! (Hoping For More Good Days)" is a legendary track on BTS and ARMY's journey.
My favorite part is J Hope's verse, because it's so vulnerable and it feels like someone opening up to you:

It is actually telling the fans to bear with them the hate that they were receiving. They still do but it's different when you were not at the top but struggling against roadblocks to survive.

In their recent army corner talk during Fiesta 2021 they came out openly saying that even Army suffered at that time because they were confronting all that online hate.
One can say everyone receives hate but when there is no solid backing behind, and it gets harmful it is a totally different story.

I think it is hard to interpret the song, if you don‘t have the context. You were right with the bounding and connecting with the fans and got the vibe of the song. But they were not sorry for ARMYs, because they are nor perfect, but because of the hardships they and ARMY faced. At that time BTS got so much hate. RM confirmed in the recent Festa that 2015-2017 were the hardest years. They were publicly humiliated and disrespected in South Korea and they fought against it by working harder while ARMY protected them instead. So to that time ARMY had been bullied and discredited just as BTS for standing up against them. People couldn‘t even say that they are ARMYs, because they were bullied for this. Jin said in a livestream that he also felt sorry for ARMY at that time. BTS released this song to comfort them and give them strength.

Many have commented this already but this song was written primarily as a way to comfort fans during a time in their careers where there was an uptick in the hate and backlash they were getting. They always want to protect ARMYs and ARMYs always want to protect them so this was their way of saying thank you and comforting us fans.
This song has taken on a happier meaning now than it did when it was released; then it was a solemn soft of comfort but these days it is more of a happy reassurance that we have each others backs through all the ups and downs. K-armys especially have a tendency to sing this while waiting for the boys to come out on stage, those are some of my favorite concert clips to watch.

This song uses the way they intro themselves at every interview for years as if they were still trainees...remaining humble... despite interviews where they were publicly attacked instead of being interviewed in a civil manner in these early days;
".., 2! 3! We are BTS" never giving up despite false allegations of plagiarism etc. So BTS thanked army for sticking with them with this beautiful song. In early days bts were 'punished' for not going through established industry channels. They were from a small company when other big companies 'ruled' the k music industry...so the fact bts were gaining popularity was upsetting the status quo at the time. The established companies/ media orgs couldn't partake in any financial gain from bts success so they were undermined every step of the way. When you are army you always experience some (to a lot of) disapproval from the people around you: why someone like you likes a group like this? So a an army can still use this song for comfort.
The other way around, BTS still shows thankfulness to the fans, to this day. Everytime they go public they say “thank you army”, because they know that without us there would be no BTS. And they mean it in their hearts as well! In all the hours of content I watched I never ever heard them say anything disrespectful about army, not in word, not in gesture, not in a look. Not ever. That means a lot to us all and explains the bond we have.

The birth of this song is truly sad. One of the nightmare memories for both BTS n army in those years especially 2015 to 2018. So they knw abt the hate n criticism they getting frm their debut day but what they really sad about was army getting n going through a lot of hate by protecting BTS so they wrote this song for us. I became ARMY a little over a year ago. I never heard of them before 2020. After hearing Black Swan I became Army not knowing that I had 😊. When I first heard this song I got so emotional and still can’t understand why even now they get so much hatred, and disrespect. It may be selfish to express it this way but the pain/hate BTS went through ARMY endured it too, especially 2015-2017 I can't listen to this song without crying, it's one of those songs for ARMY that stood by them and are still with them now that just hits different. What was so heartbreaking but also inspiring was the fact that BTS was trying so hard to comfort us even with pained expressions and so it made us want to protect them back to the point where we clung to eacother and became eachothers inspiration. Someone in the comments mentioned it was like "going to war" and that is NOT an exaggeration. I remember in one interview I believe it was RM who said something along the lines of "I want our fans to hold there head high when they say they're ARMY" this was the first song that was dedicated to us (ARMY) and I think that's why it makes it that much more special but honestly idk if I could handle hearing it live but it holds a very special place in my heart to this day 💜

You missed the mark on Suga's verse. His verse quoted directly what haters and critics say about BTS, and how fans who has been with them, has heard the same remarks made, and have gotten hurt together with BTS. But I agree that the colouring of the subs probably didn't help much. 2016-17 was a very hard time for BTS, because it was peak hatred towards them, as many other kpop fans saw them as a threat, and was attacking them and ARMY badly online. Hence they wrote this song as a comfort for their fans.
The montage video behind them is actually video clips of them in their earlier days. It was a clip of RM writing lyrics during their short breaks between performances.
The writing on the video you rewinded on was supposed to say "For A Better Day.." I think it was hand-written by someone, and didn't come across clearly..

If you only knew BTS back when they were the UNDERDOGS you would understand this song better. If you could go back to 2013, they did not get popular overnight. Most people who have just known them think of them as already popular so they make assumptions. Guys... If you only knew back in 2013 until 2017, if you guys only knew. To this day nothing triggers me more than people saying crap about Bts those few years 15,16,17 were horrible and to know this was they're own citizens talking about kids. That's why Run and Bon voyage were created. Now for some of the news shows they go on its an honor to have them. In America hustle life when something happened the guy got fire and all incidents were treated with respect. I've been around for the fan wars and it hasn't been with international fans, here they get what most people get the racist saying and the hypocrisy when you're trying to get the guys air play. The GP was not really aware of bts back then, since they blew up in the us a little earlier than in korea (they did concerts in the usa from 2014). Also that particular group's international fans were quite a great amount of the hate comments and tweets of 2015-2017. Nowdays the insult and discrimination, hate they receive are coming more from the us or europe 's kpop fandom tbh. They just receive jealousy and hate wherever they go

Btw I was crying bc I'm 2013 army. I experienced how intense the hardship bts and armys went through during that time. Bts never addressed the pressure before, while armys just tried to be strong bc it was hard for fans too. The situation was like both bts and armys tried to be strong for each other silently bc once we talked about that we might crumble(or at least that was what I feel). Then this song released. It's like "we are ok. We only have each other"..
