Please, please, please never stop teaching, you took my playing from hum-drum to a point I’m proud to play, I sooooo look forward to your videos and your various styles, I thank the stars up above for you and your wonderful method of teaching, keep on strumming Sir, we’re following in your amazing footsteps, thank you for leading us so well. God bless you Sir!
Kelly I just listened to you play the song all the way through instead of trying to play. It was so nice and peaceful. In todays loud world it was just nice to hear a guy singing and playing a nice tune on a ukulele! I’m jealous you can sing. I can’t carry a tune.
Bonnie you are always such a bright spot in my day 🙏. I truly appreciate your kind words and supportive comments! It makes me happy that these videos make your day a little better!! Kelly
Thank you, Kelly. The circle strum should come in handy as an accent to playing. I believe it is called arpeggio (broken chord) when the chord notes are separated rather than played altogether as one sound. I enjoyed the hammer on parts for the chords. Jamaica Farewell is one of my favorite Belafonte tunes. A huge thank you.
This is a happy video. I already am pretty good at island strum. This makes a nice variation. And I love Jamaica Farewell. It’s so nice that there are so many lovely songs with easy chords. Simple joys. Thanks.
Love this Kelly !! I’m just about to leave for my 4 day trip to Madison Wisconsin for my 40th college reunion ! I have my ukulele along. I will give this a try. I like the sound. And I agree with earlier comment I love your clear instructions !!
I had a great trip ! Got a pineapple mahogany ukulele Ohana. With a nice padded case. It was from a cool old Music store. Spruce tree music ! Now I have a ukulele with low g ! And my other Ohana is low g !
@@bonniedavidson936 Hey Bonnie! I'm jealous!! I was just looking at a pineapple uke on Marketplace! I had a pineapple Kamaka that I just sold - it was nice but I don't play Soprano very much so I figured I'd sell it and look for either a concert or a tenor. So now you have two low g's or a low g and a high g?
@@fourstringstrummer I have the Ohana pkc 25 g. Pineapple. Which is high. g. I also have a cedar top Ohana. Which is low g. My travel ukulele is. Enya nova. High g. I don’t use that as much. I didn’t intend to get a pineapple at all. But I really liked the size and sound and I wanted mahogany. I can’t play soprano. Too small for me. This pineapple just feels a little bit smaller than my other concerts. I’m glad I got it !
Thanks for your guidance very easy to follow.....im enjoying practicing the circle strum and actually making a sound now that sounds in tune. Does it matter that im tuned in cgda. As i know your tuned different. Should i retune my banjo to the same as yours? Many thanks
Hey there - great to hear! No need to retune your instrument if you are comfortable with playing yours the way it is. If you would like to play some of the banjo uke songs where I show how to do the instrumentals, then the standard uke tuning of gCEA would be the way to go. Is the Circle strum the same as the Roll strum?
Hi Phyllis - I'm not familiar with the roll strum so I'm not sure...thanks! Kelly
