HI, Great stuff. I'm just starting my journey writing TV music and wish you chaps lived around the corner so we could meet at the pub. I'm over 65 now and played in bands and now find this side of the biz hard to crack. Sitting behind the desk is a new one for me too. Great idea on changing instruments or even location is a cool idea. Looking forward to future episodes . Graham Z.
Great interview! And agree with everything except the part around 8:38 . Not always, sometimes you can get a director or producer that has the opposite effect on your work (i.e. amateur, keeps changing things until the last moment, and I mean your accepted, revised, greenlit cues, not knowing how to communicate to a composer or to work with one, etc...) and can ruin the movie and your soundtrack. Even if you put (and you should) your ego out of the equation. Overall it's the their movie and you're there to help but you can get your work and the movie destroyed, because of a bad director or producer. But as always, every video with Guy is a must see.
Wonderful, informative interview. Guy, I am looking forward to taking an orchestration course with your online school. Oberlin Piano performance grad and have my own small Electronic studio at home. I worked on one of the original Moog Synths at Oberlin with John Clough and Olly Wilson back in 1970!
Another great video. Guy is a great musician/composer and speaks very coherently about the business end. Which a lot of younger musicians need to know and understand.
There are some very interesting parallels here with the world of freelance software engineering. Especially working at speed and being brave enough to throw out ideas that clearly don’t fit.
Always love his content. If only he spoke out publicly about the issues with his much loved Spitfire Audio. We need allies. Especially from the 'old' cis-het white males.
@@writerecordrelease I believe he's talking about the 'Write Record Release Podcast' playlist - when a user clicks on 'View full playlist' there's a message at the top that says "2 unavailable videos are hidden" Nice interview by the way - good to see Guy here. Thanks!
@@anonagain Oh! Those are scheduled, they are releasing every week on Friday for everyone, we're not holding anything back 🙂Plus we're actually recording more stuff as we speak! Guy will be visiting very often

Thanks Jason!
A diamond chap.
I grew up watching his dad, Cliff, on TV programmes. Guy is certainly a chip off the old block!

I’ll teach you violin! 😊 I see you having a great voice though…from your tone.
2 of 3 videos on the channel are hidden to new subscribers... Really?
Hi Sockfoot, are you referring to a scheduled video? Nothing should be hidden!
