what a voice !
I grew up watching his dad, Cliff, on TV programmes. Guy is certainly a chip off the old block!
Thank you for a great interview! I greatly enjoyed the Horizon video games - Julie, your singing captures the haunting spirit of the story! Great questions, with wise answers - especially your emphasis on work-life balance. I'm a writer, not a singer, and as you described, I face the same challenge - because I enjoy it so much, I often forget time, forget meals, forget sleep, etc, until I crash. When this happens in the middle of a story, that's the worst, because it creates "writer's block"! I have to wonder, is this just a natural symptom of human passion? And I totally hear both of you - writing for myself flows so differently than when I write for others. (A fascinating insight!) Personally, I've found that I second-guess myself more frequently when performing for a specific other person. This shifts my writing more from my mind, when I prefer it to flow from my heart. So strange, because ultimately, art is a form of entertainment. And as a work of human passion, it needs to come from the heart! (Otherwise, we might as well hand it over to AI-generated work.) Thanks for sharing! 😊
What a Guy!
First comment!... Anna is amazing in a number of ways... I used to watch her years ago, but haven't for a few. I've never heard her talk! Pretty much what I would expect, though. I respect her even more now...And her PLAYING had already done it for me 7 years ago. I watched her play YYZ from Rush. I was amazed. Here was this ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL girl, and she plays bass great. Hooked.
Well I certainly had them mixed up. Lol.
I’m a big fan here in America. Wish you would do concerts here.
Love Guy! He's so personable and funny, not to mention talented AF.
Guy, you are a joy. Thank you for that.
Merveilleuse bassiste aux talents multiples. Capable de tout jouer aussi bien que du jazz, soul, funk, pop, électro. Elle va toujours de l'avant.❤😊
Guy, I love your videos. Music has always been a passion and at 48 I am picking it up again and learning a new way to record music.. THANK YOU!!!
WHAAAT? Holy moly.
I adore Jo Quail. Such a talent
Wonderful interview. ❤
This was an amazingly valuable and entertaining video. I love Andy Timmons. As someone who looks up to him and also trying to do the online thing, this was so inspiring.
Great interview!! Thks for posting.
💖💖💖💖💖💖
Guy is such a treasure!
I’ll teach you violin! 😊 I see you having a great voice though…from your tone.
Желаю Вам здоровья, счастья и новых творческих успехов!!!❤❤❤
Yes, fantastic interview man thank you! The word that comes to my mind when hearing Andy Timmons play guitar is simply Exquisite! Exquisite tone, ear for melody, phrasing, and technique. He is such a master yet so humble and so kind. 🙏 This was very edifying, inspiring, and encouraging. Thanks man and all the best with your channel!
I agree wholeheartedly! Thanks for watching!
Idkot
So much wisdom in this conversation. Was great to listen to.
It was so lovely to chat with her. Thank you so much for watching!
Fair!
Dear Guy, I'm a current post graduate student of yours. Your degree course has changed my life where I can professionally learn the craft of composing and the business aspects. Thank you Guy! This course is fun and very very educational!
Hi Ryan! I just sent this to Guy, he sends you his regards 🙂
Also, Tim and Andrea said hi!
@@writerecordrelease Thank you! :)
Love this! I'm not even close to his success level, but its great to know that I have some habits Tobi does so I'm heading in a productive direction! I recommend "A Composer's Guide to Game Music" by Winifred Phillips. There's really solid advice from a AAA game music composer there! I wish there was more Q & A about where he finds work, how he negotiates prices and things, etc. because these are fairly different than being a music producer alone. The admin stuff is talked about so infrequently it can be very hard to navigate! Another aspect to talk about might be the coding involved. Currently, I'm interning with Full Sail University's video game developers, and I think it's the case with most Indie developers, but you're not really asked to implement the audio. Cresting into AAA games might mean learning how to code the audio you create. At least, the applications I've seen have it as a requirement and prior instructors also mentioned similar. That being said, I think how video games' coding evolve's will dictate what direction our music goes. For example, horizontal/vertical composition and Quick Time Events changed how game composers created music! Great video!
Thanks! And that's a great book recommend!
He has a lot of reverb in his room... Interesting lol
I move a lot and only work with headphones. Otherwise this room would kill my mixes indeed - the roommis 4meters high haha
there are 3 guitarists with the best ever tone: stevie ray, ynwie and angus.
My favourite three guitarist are cooler than your favourite three guitarist 🤪 Yngwie's tone in Alcatrazz is definitely up there
Anime and japanese games? Truly a man of culture. 👏👏👏
You have to love Guy and his teaching method is so entertaining yet always insightful.
Rusanda makes such a good point about where you are in the world,It's a tough business to be in ,and if you are not in a country that really cherishes culture and art it's always going to be that much more difficult. On the flip side if you are in a country that thrives on creative people,it's also that much more difficult because of the competitive nature of business. like you said you really need to be born for this.
Absolutely! Either way it requires hard work and dedication
A gentleman.

You're the first Bill!
Just want to let you know I’m enjoying the channel. Hobbyist music maker here, about three years in, but I took it up as a retirement hobby. The only problem is that I haven’t retired yet 😂. I am slowly working through the “How to write Music” course.
He’s a great guy 🥹😊
Yesssss! There it is!
I got excited about this one (I'm a guitar player)
@@writerecordrelease me too! Excited about the video and a guitar player, that is!
Andy Timmons is so great! One of my absolute favorite guitarists of all time. He makes everything sound "him" in such a good way without sounding the same and boring. Love it! I hope he keeps playing for years and years still. 🙂👍
We agree wholeheartedly! He's a lovely chap too
Great to be here at this stage.
Very inspiring !!
2 of 3 videos on the channel are hidden to new subscribers... Really?
Hi Sockfoot, are you referring to a scheduled video? Nothing should be hidden!
@@writerecordrelease I believe he's talking about the 'Write Record Release Podcast' playlist - when a user clicks on 'View full playlist' there's a message at the top that says "2 unavailable videos are hidden" Nice interview by the way - good to see Guy here. Thanks!
@@anonagain Oh! Those are scheduled, they are releasing every week on Friday for everyone, we're not holding anything back 🙂Plus we're actually recording more stuff as we speak! Guy will be visiting very often
Youre amazing hope you get appreciation for your work 🙏
A diamond chap.
Can't wait to start watching these!
🎶
Always love his content. If only he spoke out publicly about the issues with his much loved Spitfire Audio. We need allies. Especially from the 'old' cis-het white males.
It is always so much pleasant and enriching to listen to Guy
Rusanda is amazing!
She really is! We have much more coming from Rusanda very soon!
There are some very interesting parallels here with the world of freelance software engineering. Especially working at speed and being brave enough to throw out ideas that clearly don’t fit.
I hope there is a long video to this short one coming up :)
There is indeed! We have a lot of stuff coming 😲
This is so inspiring ❤️
Guy is a real gem. Never a hint of ego.
