  • LE Audio is the next generation of Bluetooth Audio, making audio streaming over Bluetooth Low Energy possible. It enables new use cases and significantly reduces power consumption compared to Classic (BR/EDR) Audio.
    Our nRF5340 Audio Development Kit (DK) is the recommended platform for Bluetooth “LE Audio” products and contains everything needed to start development.

    What is the maximum range what can be reached in normal usage, for example between 2 motorcycles? Transferring voice trough it?

      Up to 1.2 km: www.nordicsemi.com/News/2023/01/Aptener-Mechatronics-BluArmor-C30-Helmet-Comms-Unit-employs-nRF52840-SoC-and-nRF21540-RF-FEM.
      We could present a number from theory, but we think this claim from one of our customers is pretty good and have more weight as it is a working solution. Note that this solution use a proprietary protocol with audio relaying which is not a Bluetooth LE Audio feature. The radio is the same though and has the same performance.

      @@NordicSemi Thanks. But as I see they are using the older nRF52840 instead of the nRF5340. Are the nRF5340 better than this?
      The normal nRF5340-dk is capable about the same what the nRF5340-audio-dk if I do not want to plug physical microphone into, just want to use the distance radio from it?

      @@hygykenRF5340 has better sensitivity. With the nRF21540 you will get the TX power allowed by regulation when combined with nRF5340. The nRF5340 Audio DK has an audio DAC and on-board MEMS microphone, but the nRF5340 chip is the same.

    Is it possible to use 4g SIM card on this board ?

    • @NordicSemi
      @NordicSemi  Рік тому

      It is not a simple yes/no question as there are too many factors depending on which specific card you would like to use. Please head over to DevZone and reach out to our tech support team directly with more details on the 4G SIM card you want to use: devzone.nordicsemi.com

    For the true wireless stereo... Do you need the third development kit or can you use a computer or phone as the audio source?

      You need a third dev kit to act as the source because your PC probably doesn’t support LE Audio yet (the PC would feed the audio through USB or Line to the “audio src “ dev kit). In the future, when the technology becomes more mainstream, you’d be able to have your laptop directly transmit broadcast or connected LE Audio stream(s). The first and second boards would be used as L and R earbuds

      You can use a computer or phone as source. For computer you need Windows 11 and a model with a recent Intel chipsets. We used Samaung GalaxyBook as demo PC at CES. We have also successfully paired the Audio DK to Pixel 7, recent Samsung phones, and Sony Xperia 5V. Technically you can use nRF5340 DK as an audio source if you are using USB. The nRF5340 Audio DK has a configuration for using USB source and this configuration does not require more than what is found on the normal DK. There is no ready to use setup for this in the SDK so you need to det it up yourself.
