I bought the samsung S21 smartphone 2yrs ago because it had Bluetooth 5.2 with Audio Codec LC3 which improved audio quality. After waiting for two years for an FM transmitter that supported 5.2 it finally was available on Amazon. After looking at the smartphone settings to make sure the bluetooth is transmiting the LC3 Audio Codec. I find out that the Android 12 operating system does not support LC3 audio on my smartphone. I need to upgrade it to Android 13, but it's still not available for Samsung S21 in the USA until another month. I can't believe it took Samsung two years to develop an operating system to support the 5.2 bluetooth it came with my samsung S21 smartphone.

Does Bluetooth LE Audio improve bad audio quality when audio device is working in duplex mode? Is there a replacement for HFP and HSP profiles?

It's so hard to get an answer to this question.

Yes, LE Audio will indeed improve the noticeably lower audio quality issue which was present for the HFP and HSP Bluetooth Classic profiles. LE Audio is a completely new audio framework with all new profiles and services that improve on the existing use-cases, as well as adding many new ones. You can read more about the new profiles and services in the Generic Audio Framework Specification section posted by Bluetooth SIG themselves just last week!

    Well done.

Now Nordic provides a tutorial on BLE Audio while the audio quality of the bigger part of the tutorial itself is crap.

Comparing to Opus 1.0 isn't fare, Opus is on 1.3. LC3 is still a royalty based codec. SBC XQ is a good replacement for AptX, AAC. Opus is added to Pipewire and have been tested for AOSP.

Hello Burhan. The numbers we present here are sourced from Bluetooth SIG themselves www.bluetooth.com/learn-about-bluetooth/recent-enhancements/le-audio/ , which in turn comes from this paper secure.aes.org/forum/pubs/conventions/?elib=21084 where you can see that it is indeed the OPUS v1.3 that is being used in the comparison. However, the focus in our presentation is on the comparison between the LC3 and the SBC, since the SBC is the mandatory codec for the Bluetooth Classic standard, while the LC3 is the mandatory codec for the new LE Audio standard - which makes it natural to compare the two. If you would like to read more about the LC3 you could take a look at the materials references in this blogpost as well: devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/nordic-blog/b/blog/posts/low-energy-audio-is-finally-here
