Amanda Marshall is Canada's songbird. Her silky, husky, soulful, raspy sexy voice is matched by no one else.
When Amanda first released that song...waaaaay back when......I heard it just once, and immediately went to a music store and bought her debut CD. I have been a fan ever since. She is one of the most talented singers in Canada.

I saw her in Royal Oak MI... Her band's bus broke down... She showed up and gave us a full acoustic show. Just her. It was brilliant. I wish she would release more....

I've seen her 3x in concert in Vancouver, BC - and I miss her dearly. I cover her stuff when I sing. It's got 'soul' - and much of the crap out there now does not. She is amazing in concert. I sure hope some new stuff will come out. Just like Anastacia coming back late in life (who released an amazing album) after overcoming Cancer, I believe Amanda can do it and overcome - she's got spirit...and soul - and she's built for it...I love her to bits. One day....come back, Amanda...please.
it's a shame that you hear so little from her in germany, great voice, I would have wished her more success with what she's capable of. she could vocally bag some being labeled superstar etc by the media. real shame.

I have just been turned on to Amanda Marshall. I never knew much about her, but I must say she is an awesome performer, incredibly underrated. Been to very few concerts in my life, but I'll be damned sure to try to see her performance in person. She expresses music like no other.
You should definitly go to a concert. I have seen her in Munich about 20 years ago. It was one of the best shows I've ever been. She has such a powerful voice and the band at that time was so tight.

music comes first and foremost through the radio but the stations only play what they like to hear (say) and if i play the hit parade from 6 in the morning until midnight, top artists such as Amanda Marshall have no chance to present their product find it unfair to the artists to hear the radio most of the people.

No gurlcaa & anchor...it was label problems...she fired her management in 2002 and that caused a fallout with her label Sony Canada...and she was forced to keep a low profile and could not physically release anything till it was sorted out...no clue when it was all settled but Amanda's been recording new music lately...she said in interviews that we'd see a new record in 2013...but nothing...it's now 2014, hopefully soon...but this decade-long break seemed to not be a bad thing...AM's been doing LIFE stuff like moving to California, learning to cook, etc...and people have not forgotten her, only missed her more...not many people can get away with a decade-long break for fear of becoming irrelevant...Amanda's stuff is more timeless...BTW, her last album, 2001's "Everybody's Got A Story" was an AMAZING record, very ahead of its time...the mix of R&B, acoustic/electric guitar pop, orchestration, stacked (and soulful vocals), real-life lyrics and hiphop beats/samples was more NOW than 2001...it also spoke more to how Amanda was as a person and her playful personality than her 1st 2 records, which while amazing & timeless as well, were a bit TOO serious...

Whenever I watch The Voice I imagine Amanda standing up there with those pipes, all the judge's chairs turning and seeing that hair! 1, 2 KO. Just saying...
I've seen several singers who had glorious pasts come on The Voice, and have another shot at glory. This would be perfect for Amanda - she'd blow the rest away!
