I stayed in an air Bnb in Italy, traveling with my wife and friends. We got there fairly late in the evening but Italians stay up fairly late so 8:30 wasn’t too crazy a time to check in. Well the address we arrived at, wasn’t the place we were staying like we assumed, but the landlords home. He spent like 10 minutes, while we stood outside his huge dark oak doorway in an unlit hallway “looking for the keys to the apartment” (he actually was tho). He then proceeded to lead us another 5 minutes away through tight stone alleyways to the apartment. The whole thing had us creeped out, my wife constantly looking at me as we passed each turn on the road. I pinned the location of his home in case something went down while we were waiting. If he wasn’t like 80 years old (and friendly Italian gentleman) and three fit 20-30 year old dudes with us I probably would have spoken up and cancelled the whole thing it was so sketch feeling. But in the end it was just a nice old guy who was bad at giving instructions on the internet in a non native language. and the stay was nice.

I once stayed in an Airbnb that looked like a small victorian vampire house. My bedroom had a closet with a missing doorknob, a rocking chair, and a painting of two children above the bed. There was also a baby bassinet near the back door. I hated it.
