As much as this was an prequel movie that would explain Natasha’s origin I think that it’s also an origin story for Yelena and her future role in the MCU.
I'm thinking we will get a flashback scene in Hawkeye show with Natasha explaining what made her want to leave and join SHIELD.
@@davidm4566 I was hoping for a flashback but Natasha pretty much just spoke about it when talking to Yelena.
This black widow movie kinda feels like the ending of a trilogy. The first movie talks about how Natasha struggled with her fate and escaped the red room. The second movie talks about her relationship with Clint and them finally killing Dreykov.

I actually didn't know Yelena would be in Hawkeye til watching the movie on Wednesday 7th July. Still I am looking forward to more with her since she was one of my favourite parts of the film.
I wish her reveal was a surprise to me tbh. Since they said her first appearance was suppose to be black widow and not falcon and the winter soldier :c but her recruiting the sister was a surprise

I’m really excited to see the encounter between Yelena and Hawkeye, especially since they could share stories about Natasha after making it clear he didn’t kill her. Also, it sure seems like the Thunderbolts are coming to the MCU, and I’m looking forward to that.
Hawkeye series in a nutshell:
Yelena:" you took everything from me!"
Clint:" i don't even know who you are"

This is about the only reason why I like the film, as setup for Hawkeye.. Such a shame. I had big hopes. The acting isn't bad. It's just the story that I don't like.

Just note that Hawkeye was a thunderbolt in the comics, so prepare for a twist

@@crocodilebiscuit49 A lot of comic-book fans also had issues with Taskmaster since they butchered the character. Very similar to Iron Man 3 which is a much better movie if you're not familiar with the source material. And like with the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 I think it's nearly inevitable that they introduce the "real" Taskmaster in the future, that would be easy enough to retcon. But if you ignore that part of the movie it was very enjoyable! But it's definitely something that's going to cause the movie to be disliked more than it deserves to be...
@@mieroth they never explicitly called her Taskmaster, but called it the Taskmaster Initiative or Program or something (sorry, forgot the wording), so just like the widows, there may be more, with the original comic book character as the foundation of it. Seems they purposefully left that slightly ambiguous to see where the reaction to this movie went?

Besides Midsommar, this is the 2nd movie that I've seen with Florence Pugh. She did amazing, and she pulled off the humor scenes well too.
She absolutely steals the show in the latest rendition of Little Women, which I highly recommend (even if it doesn't seem like your cup of tea at all.)

Imagine if the Hawkeye series ends with Yelena killing Clint, effectively creating a newer dark twist on the Hawkeye & Black Widow dynamic, one where Kate and Yelena are sworn enemies.
Actually I think it’s going to be dark in a different way, I think that Clint will join the thunderbolts, since he did in the comics. Might be cause he does feels guilty about Natasha and wanna help Yelena plus it seems like all of them, like John Walker, think that what they’re doing is good.
@@heyyo966 I have a feeling Hawkeye show will end with Clint finally retiring and passing down the mantle to Kate Bishop. We’re about to lose another OG Avengers, or at the very least sideline him until a big avengers movie.

@@gracedicken8708 I think it’s too soon for young avengers. There was a recent interview with Fiege and he said something along the lines of how their not actively pursuing for a young avengers but will depend on the audience.
Also, I can totally see them bringing him back, along side RDJ, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson again. Quite possibly if they ever do an avengers vs x men or something big like that. Fiege also did say that they already know how they would resurrect Iron Man.
@@dunkirito8308 the reason I think they are starting to at least set up young avengers is only because they have already introduced Kid Loki, Billy and Tommy, and are going to introduce Kate Bishop, Riri Williams, Kamala Khan, and they have already introduced Yelena. I think the next avengers movie will have to be with the young avengers with all this set up they are doing, but I don’t think it will be for a while.
I remember the Marvel One Shot: The Consultant, when Coulson tells Agent Sitwell (Hail Hydra!) that Col. Ross wants Abomination on the Avengers Initiative. I think Ross stills use Emil Blonski to fight superheroes.

Can't believe they went to such length to hide who the task master was only to drop Olga kuryienkov name in the opening credit scene.
Disappointed nat didn't get a better send off, and that task master didn't get more characterization, but hell, I really like the looks of the red guardian, dad bod, and all. I love to see Marvel's more obsceve more characters get screen time. Keep up the good work.

Black Widows always been my favorite, I’m glad she was able to get a solo movie, though I think she deserved a trilogy. I would have liked to see more of her past and how she became a widow but I’m also happy the mantle will be carried on by Yelena. Wish I could see them both together in more movies or shows.

One thing we might see is that due to many of the things mentioned here, many of the 'Earth bound Avengers" step back a bit. However, this opens up a reason for the Young Avengers. I could very much see many of the older Avengers wanting to retire or feel they are "too loud" - the younger Avengers might see this as them 'giving up' and not realizing that maybe the older Avengers understand sometimes one needs to let things cool down.
That and none of them are getting any younger.
So if more of the more Earthbound heroes step back, it is practically inevitable the younger ones, the ones who are idealistic and haven't gotten as worldly/jaded/wise/cynical (take your pick) would want to jump in and fill that Hero gap.
Right off the bat, one can see why Kate Bishop would be this way. Elijah is already shown to have a chip on his shoulder and if Sam gets a raw deal, he'll be even more inclined to step up.

To subvert our expectations. Just like the trailer for Infinity War showed Hulk in the battle of Wakanda.
@@ghiggs8389 Third party companies were making toys with Hulk for Infinity War as well and I believe the writers said they changed the Banner/Hulk storyline while filming. I don't think that was intentionally subverting our expectations so much as they changed their mind.
However the trailer for Loki had Sylvie hidden in shadows and a lot of people thought that was Natasha trapped in the Soul Gem that he was talking to. I do think that sometimes Marvel does subvert expectations, but I'm not sure they'd do expensive de-aging CGI just for that.
@@ghiggs8389 There is deleted scene from avengers IW where Bruce talk to Hulk and actually figured it out, so Hulk in Wakanda was planned all along.
Also the trailer showed a lot about Natasha's Red Room training, and the final brainwashed cold blooded kill as her graduation. But this was not on the movie and barely even mentioned. It was likely aiming the audience to think the movie was set in the 90's with teen Natasha not after Civil War with adult Natasha.
Whoa whoa whoa hold on I just had a crazy thought....THEY ARE recruiting the dark Avengers we now have a black widow and a Captain America general Ross will be a hulk for sure... We also have the young evengers showing up in all the Disney shows. Wonder what this is all brewing towards... Will there be a dark Thor, hawkeye, iron man???? Ohhhhhhhh. So, when are we gonna talk about the fact that we are barely inthis new phase and the MCU has, at least, 4 Avenger teams? Yoy got your Thundeebolts, your What If Avengers (lead by Cptn. Carter), your regular Avengers and your Young Avengers. Would anyone be surprised if the “Senior” avengers showed up? I need people who kniw more about comics talking about this.
also not to mention the other groups that exist and will exist in the mcu: the guardians of the galaxy, the eternals, the fantastic four, some version of the x-men, and the rumored midnight sons

What If isn't part of canon or really part of the MCU. It is intentionally a non-canon spin-off.
This is the only phase with no Avengers movies as part of the phase.

Agree with the epilogue feeling you made in the Easter egg video… the only thing that makes this fit in phase 4 is the post credit scene. Other than that, I feel this would have for much better right after civil war.

It's also possible that if Yelena turns on the Thunderbolts then Walker might too, after all, in the comics, we have seen him fighting against the Thunderbolts on the side of the Mighty Avengers during The Siege event

11:21 lol I just saw this commercial yesterday. Also I hope with all these multiverse stuff coming, we get Deadpool & John Bernthal's Punisher on the Thunderbolts roster. If it was a Rated R film or series on Hulu maybe, that's even better. Hey Val said things are about to get weird, and we know Deadpool is coming to the MCU as first R rated film. Also yeah I can totally see Ghost joining, but I don't think they'd have Abomination and Red Hulk, probably one or the other.

Not really. The only similarity is that they are both teams of villains. The rest is completely diferent. Suicide Squad is better(my opinion) and the criminals are forced to obey or die. The thunderbolts are just a normal team of villains posing as heroes but in the mcu it looks like it will be a team of anti heroes since both US Agent and Yelena werent villains in the movies/shows they were in
@@rodrigosousa2172 The Thunderbolts were originally villains pretending to be heroes after most of Marvel's heroes "died" in the Onslaught story. These days, the Thunderbolts have become a Government program basically the same as the Suicide Squad.
You're going to have to trust me on this, but the next person who should join the Thunderbolts should definitely be your Mom.

I'm all for Thunderbolts but I think it really needs Karla Sofen (Moonstone) to make it work - a player who out-thinks and outplays everyone, isn't a slouch in the muscle department, and who is morally grey enough to both allow the bad to happen without being a monster. (will rescue a child, but steal the kid's candy - Yelena and John don't have that range)
Feels like the rest of the roster can change, but the thing that made original Thunderbolts interesting was that they quickly got in over their heads, but pulled off surprising wins, making you want to root for the bad guys - And a lot of that was due to Moonstone.
Kang will likely fight three separate teams. A reformed Avengers team, the Dark Avengers, and a recently formed Young Avengers.

Now it makes sense why black widow is part of phase 4…it was never about Natasha, this was the origin story of Yelena! And now we’re set up for a new black widow/ connection into Hawkeye/ possible assembling of the thunderbolts which all makes sense now

I agree with you. I watched the movie yesterday and waited for the end credits. I was about to cry when Yelena whistled, but omg it was cut short when Val appeared! I was like this woman never misses a beat!
My secret head cannon would be that Yelena would whistle that tune and either Hawkeye or Hawkeye’s daughter automatically whistle back and when Yelena inquires how they know this, they’ll probably be like Natasha told us about how she would do this with her little sister... 🥺Yelena will then be the third person Clint brought to the Avengers. The first being Natasha, second is Wanda and Yelena being the other. (Unless I’m mistaken!)
I believe that it will be zemo as a Hawkeye that ties the team together, walker as captain America, ross as hulk, belova as black widow, Osborn as Ironman, but I’m not sure who will be the Thor of the group…

These are the thunderbolt counterparts of the avengers that we're most likely to see. Iron man counter part would most probably be shown in armored wars.
I think the biggest surprise is Kate Bishop being played by singer/actor Hailee Steinfeld. Maybe I should not be surprised but I think of her more as a singer and not an actress even though she seems to win roles.
Actually she was an Oscar nominee when she was very young in the movie "True Grit", I think she has what it takes

Banner is back to being Banner shaped in She-Hulk. "WHAT IF..." they finally figured out a way to weaponise Hulk by removing it from Banner & putting it in Ross? Maybe, it's a double-tap! The incident that created the need for Jennifer's blood transfusion went further and Ross needed one at the same time? Two birds, one stone.
I think after the completion of thunderbolts, we'll have a Civil war 2.... but this time, its Avengers vs Thunderbolts.... I just wish this could happen ☺
