The UK Sentenced A Baby To Death

  • This past week, an eight-month-old baby named Indi Gregory passed away after the UK government chose to pull her life support plug. This occurred despite repeated appeals by the parents, a personal invitation to the Vatican hospital for treatment, and the government of Italy granting Indi citizenship and treatment options. With all the options available and at no cost to the UK, they still chose to pull the plug, ultimately resulting in the baby's death shortly afterward. This should serve as a reminder to all of how dangerous and frightening universal healthcare can be.

    This is *DISGUSTING.*
My nephew has a mitochondrial disease and was told that he likely wouldn’t live to see a year, and if he did, he wouldn’t be able to walk. He’s now 10 years old and has been playing soccer and basketball for years now. This girl had a chance to live a beautiful , flourishing life and was stripped of it.

All sorts of issues seem to have these awful prognoses that ultimately end up being so untrue. To a degree, I understand doctors not wanting to set hopes high for fear of let down for the family later, but it ultimately is not worth it when people are being put down as both dehumanized as well as literally euthanized.

After a car accident they kept telling me to be realistic with recovery. I was like no, I’m out of here by and gave a date. They let me go home on that date saying I had made a miraculous recovery. It wasn’t miraculous. I simply didn’t let them control my beliefs about what I was capable of. The human mind is so powerful. Doctors often set people up for failure by setting reasonable expectations.

I know a woman who was told to get an abortion 40 yrs ago. They said if the baby lived she would have severe retardation. No walking or talking. The girl became an honor role student. Her daughter (the granddaughter) now owns a school for Autism. Never kill a baby on the word of a doctor or the government.

My sister has Mitochondrial Myopathy (disease) (what Indi Gregory had) and she is 15 now. The doctors said she wouldn’t live past the age of two. This is so insane to me, why the hell is this the world we live in? The girl could’ve lived a very HAPPY life if she’d gotten care. Maybe not, maybe she would’ve still died, or maybe she would’ve lived for a few years. But they shouldn’t have been able to just take that chance from the innocent child of God. And they shouldn’t be able to take that choice from her parents.

Where did the question of the parents dying even come from? What of other children that have survived this and are now happy? Yes there's time and chance, but are you really going to justify such heartache and trauma on the parents' part by overally assuming the absolute worst of life? Its like justifying unaliving a normal healthy baby on the count that all these terrible things could happen. Guess what? Horrible things happen to people anyway. It does not justify this whatsoever. What's worse is that there was hope. You seriously can't tell me that the government cared so very deeply for Indie that they denied.. you know what? I think I've ranted enough.

I'm italian, and always proud to live in my country. Just wanted to add something, other than my best wishes for those parents that lost a child in a terrible way like this one. Here in Italy we do have public health care, but we also have specific laws that prevent this type of behaviour from the public health care system itself. What I mean is that parents in Italy, have always the last word on deciding what to do with their child, so if they wanna try to go in other countries, private facilities, or whereever they feel like it, they are allowed to do so. It's just an example of a good way to do public health care, but still keeping the choices on what to do towards the patients (or their parents in this case)
Rest in peace to this little life lost way too early. We wish we could have helped you here.
Keep up the good work Brett

If people who have this condition could live up to 20 years and more, and the Italian government and hospital were offering to take on the burden of medical bills, why not let them?
This case has become public but I wonder how many more like this happened, with people who didn't have external help and no public media coverage

In Italy, the concept of hospital care is different from "seeking healing." In fact, there are conditions from which one cannot be completely healed, but which can still be cured (from "taking care"). For some Italian doctors Indi could be cured: maybe it wouldn't get better, but there are children's hospitals here that are really state-of-the-art and house so many children, even non-Italian children, their families and parents become active participants in the care of their children. Indi's life may not have been the life of a "normal" child, but it was a life full of meaning, for her, for her family, and for the Italian hospital staff who testify daily to their love and vocation for their profession, as stated in the Hippocratic Oath.

I do not live in the UK and I do not have say over what the judges do. But any human with common knowledge should know that, that precious baby needs help and would do anything to save that baby ❤
That was not the case and I feel like throwing up because they didn’t just let the baby die. THEY TOOK HER OF LIFE SUPPORT, EVEN AFTER SHE BECAME A ITALIAN CITIZEN!!!!!

I remember that 2021 case. It was a girl named Alta Fixsler and the father was American and also an Israeli citizen. Government officials in both the U.S. (God bless America!) and Israel tried to get her out, and there were doctors in both countries willing to treat her, but the UK held her hostage and insisted on killing her. Absolutely horrendous and heartbreaking.

Now they are literally getting taken over from within and half the people in positions of power are immigrants from 3rd worlds. This type of nonsense is a women voting issue.

I actually just did a presentation on this story in a class today. I finished speaking and everyone, high school juniors and my teacher, just sat in silence for a minute as the terrible tragedy of what happened was still sinking in. It felt unreal, my teacher told me later that while I was speaking he had to look it up for himself, we simply couldn't believe this has actually happened and that we've actually gone this far. My soul aches for the precious life of Indi and all other innocent children who died at the hands of such negligence and evil. There are people in my generation with hope, and we are desperate to make some change.
