Indian Key had a massacre on it in 1840 during the Second Seminole Indian War. Apparently it was raided by Seminoles and 13 whites were killed while about 60 escaped. The island is haunted now they say. Those sharks may have been nurse sharks but they look similar to bull sharks from above. The nurse sharks aren't dangerous but the bull sharks are one of the most dangerous of all sharks so it was a good idea not to go snorkeling. Glad the weather improved for this outing. Nice video.
@@Kayak7seas True considering how desolate Indian Key is now compared to Miami but the area Miami stands on now was a mangrove swamp back when Indian Key was in its heyday. Actually the Florida Keys were the only place with a notable population in South Florida until Flagler built his railroad.
What an amazing kayaking trip. The water is so pretty! We've only been kayaking once, but we had a great time and have since talked about buying a pair. Just so we can kayak when there's an opportunity to on our camping trips.
That was a great one again, what nice sunny weather and waters. Where they nursesharks or? Fine sunset as well at the end! In the North of Holland we're up for snow and the next more serious freeze. Hope my bruised ribs are healed enough for long skate-tours, paddling sadly was a no go this week after my crash....
@@Kayak7seas ah in that case no good idea to go snorkeling with them... I broke through the ice while skating (see the action in my last vid), so bruised my ribs but going somewhat better now. Here snow and freezing temps, so hope to go skating soon again, kayaking is/goes on hold for the time being...
This is a very interesting video, I must say. It looked like a nurse shark, because bull sharks have a very dominant dorsal fin, and a different musculature than that photo. I'd be more afraid of man o wars to be honest.

Thanks, hard to believe that Indian Key was the seat of Dade County at one time.

Not sure if they were nurse sharks or bull sharks. I didn't know about your crash, hope everything is going alright.

Good luck my friend ..take care always !!
Thanks for the visit
That drone shot at the end was nice.
Thanks, I wanted to fly over the island, but it was too far out and I started to lose signal
@@Kayak7seas Then you could make another vid of a drone rescue :)
Nice views!
Thanks for watching and your support. Have a great day :)
Another island, named "Indian Key" is located near the South bound approach to I-275's Skyway bridge in Tampa Bay.
Where's the fishing videos?
Wanna fish for some shark?
@@Kayak7seas pick the date, let's do it!
How long does it take to get there
It's about a mile from the launch point to Indian Key so maybe it was 20 minutes or so.
How long was the paddle there?
Thank you very much
What was the song called in the intro?
Drunken Sailor
Oh it's so great place for doing Kayaking here Ms k
Yes indeed
So beautiful
It is, the water down around the keys is spectacular.

Thanks, I believe they are nurse sharks as well
looked like a nurse shark. they are 4th most likely to bite on the shark list
Thanks, I wasn't too sure at the time
Maybe two foot long nurse sharks.
Could be, that's what I've kind of determined they were.
It sucks the ramp is permanently closed now
oh no, that's too bad
I know I’m late but those are nurse sharks
Completely harmless
Not late for us, since we’re headed there tomorrow! Glad to know they are nurse rather than bull sharks.
I think it was a nurse shark
Couldn’t see very well but I think they were nurse sharks no bull
