I actually love braid outs even though they are a bit more work. I think it's because it allows me to see more length. Once my hair is as long as yours curly maybe I'll love twist outs? lol
It is so refreshing and uplifting to see beautifal natural sisters like Naptural85 and the many other women on UA-cam SHARING their knowledge on natural hair care. I'm so glad I came across this "family" where I'm learning from my sisters, where we have accepted our natural beauty and blessed God-given unique hair - so unique, you literally have to be born with it!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Hey! I love the plaiting technique you used here. I've noticed that if you do it on larger sections, it can be a real time-saver! I even made a video on it (and credited you of course). Thanks so much for sharing!
My favorite natural hair blogger. It was hard finding someone who has the same hair texture as me, but when I stumbled across your channel about a year ago I struck gold. I haven't had a relaxer in 2 and 1/2 years and my natural hair journey took a positive turn when I started using your tips. :) I've saved SOOO much money by doing my own hair. Whew! Thanks for all of your informative videos, you're the best!
thank you for always being so honest about how labor intensive it is to do hair! i honestly get so impatient i just watch your videos for the fun of it! i honestly have to be in the mood, and i feel so much better about my laziness knowing you feel tired sometimes too.
Miss Naptural, you get points just for taking time out of your busy day to help people. And congratulations again on your pregnancy. You're glowing! I'm thankful for this tutorial, because I'm in my ninth month of transitioning and braid-outs seem to hide the two textures better for me than twist-outs, at least at this point in time. Thank you so much, and I wish you and your growing family the best.
I don't know how may braid out videos I've watched and I do them on myself all the time, but I can always count on you to have an inspiring technique that makes the style better. Thanks for sharing.
I've done this for years and it's a very effective way to manage natural hair. For those worried about frizz add a lil frizz fighting serum in with the Shea butter. I also blast my hair with a tiny heat of my blow dryer and a diffuser
Super cute! I always love the way your hair turns out! Let me just say that I am 6 months natural, and you were a big factor in my decision. I had just gotten my 3 month old micro-braids out and had decided to do a couple of weeks of really deep conditioning before getting a relaxer again. After about a week, i decided to go natural instead. While looking up things i could do with my hair, i came across your videos. You've been a great help and inspiration!
Great video, nap! Thanks for continuing to find the time (and energy:-) to make these videos. You keep inspiring me as a try to keep my natural hair moisturized and stylized.
Thanks for your videos. Like you I am a 4A and I just made 8 months post big chop! I love to follow your videos because most of the styles and products that you use work for me. Keep bringing us great videos. Thanks!!
You are the best naturalista I watch on UA-cam. By me watching your videos for a few months now even your old ones you was one of the reasons why I decide to go natural and do the big crop. I been natural for 3months so far so good. Style not use to the short boyish hair through but that's what wigs are for lol
Using this method has given me the BEST results :D.I love my hair today! My braid out finally touches my shoulders too,so it definitely elongates my roots a bit more compared to doing simple plaits. Unfortunately, I accidentally did too many braids, which made it time consuming lol. I will be sure to stick to 14 or less next time lol
Your hair is gorgeous! And all of your tutorials are wonderful! Like I don't even have natural hair and watch a good majority of them and they work great on my hair just as well! Thanks XOXO!
I just wanna say THANK YOU for doing this video! I know you're super busy, probably super tired nowadays but you still come on and post videos for people. You're a huge inspiration, so thanks nap (: xxxxxxxxx
this came out soo noooice! I feel like although braid outs take longer your hair gets that crazy defined zig zag that just adds some extra oomph! lovely as usual =)
Continuing from the other post....I know my hair wont ever look like yours - I don't ascribe to hair typing systems, but our textures are a bit different - but your tips and tutorials are incredibly helpful! You're fabulous, girl! Keep doing what you do!
Cornrows are one of the best ways to achieve braid outs. she essentially did smaller (or should I say shorter) cornrows all over her hed so yes, cornrows will work very well to achieve this style and it will be less time consuming.
I love your hair, it is thick and beautiful and your techniques are so simple but produce such great results, I am going to try this technique and see what I get.
so cute and innovative method of braiding, it was just as cute with the back unbraided and the two braids in the front left in..but beautiful style regardless!
Whitney, I think your videos are great! I giggle about you keeping it real about getting tired during styling, especially while pregnant. Congratulations btw! keep the videos coming! I love all the different ideas you have for dealing with natural hair ;)
I love the results!!! Your hair is gorgous... I can't wait till my hair gets this length or at least long enough to achieve something even close to this...Love it!!
Wish I'd seen this last night while I was braiding, lol...I didn't understand the French braid portion of your method but when I saw the result I got it. Will try this again the next time I wash my hair. Thanks!
I am a new viewer and I am in love with you and your hair. I have been natural for three years now and have tried many things but you truely have inspired me to dive a little deeper. I'm not a girly girl at all so its a lot for me to go at my hair and stay with it bc I have tried things that haven't worked well. You really have just boosted my confidence. Thanks for taking the time out to post these. See ya in your next video ;)
I'm currently transitioning and even though I am already excited and looking forward to my natural hair, you give me even more hope that I'll someday be able to master my hair just like you've seemed to have mastered yours. Thanks so much for your videos!! P.S. I think all viewers would agree with me when I say that you should definitely find a place where you can sit comfortably and record your videos. We don't want you passing out on us girl! We love you too much! Lol :-)
I Love your UA-cam videos and i have watched them ever since 9th grade. i started going natural in 8th and this coming school year i will be a senior. You have helped me a lot and i love being natural. i now have my own youtube channel and hope i can inspire others like you have inspired me! :) ~Danni
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. I would wear my own natural hair if it were as long as yours. Glad I found your videos. I will be making hair oil real soon.
This hair is perfect!! I have been struggling for so long with my crazy ass afro, that has recently just been so out of control :( This video has seriously given me hope. My hair is just FLUFF and being able to have beautiful, defined curls like this will be great. Definately going to try the braid out. Thankyou!
I agree with you to a point. There ARE a lot of 4a/b naturals on youtube, but there are also plenty of 4c naturals. The problem is that once you start caring for your hair properly, what was once 4c begins to look like 4b. I've noticed that both, from watching youtubers from the beginning, and from my own experience with my hair. It just takes patience, learning what your hair needs, and how to provide it. :)
She said she did that so that when she was undoing the braid in the morning, the hair was already separated (vs. manually separating each one which takes more time in the morning and can possibly result in frizz if you're not very careful).
I prefer twistouts also b/c they are easier and I suck at braiding. But this braidout is the best I've ever seen! Just GORGEOUS!!!!!! It makes me want to try it:)!!!
I love braidouts, to me they look waayyyyy better than a twistout! I never thought of that method of braiding, thanks so much because today happens to be wash day!
oh and thank you so much for the "lifting the roots" tip! You saved me I used to look almost bald hahaha I use it for the front of my head too! But you gotta be careful not to ruin the curls.
I absolutely liveeeeeeeee for your braid out! I wish my hair would come out that way...I think it's too fine for it to look full of volume while being defined.
I can't describe how much I love your videos, but I'll try. I look forward to your videos like the world looks forward to a release of a twilight movie. You're amazing and sweet and humble. I'm a fan for life!! #1 fan over here in Iowa :)
Thank you so much for this video! I do braid outs all the time but I don't always get the look that I want and I have to deal with all the frizz. You have great techniques, thanks! :)
Thanks for sharing this Whitney, especially since we know that Bobblehead is helping you feel a bit more tired these days! As always you've shared some great tips and your hair looks fabulous.
Your hair has grown so much! It looks beautiful and healthy. But I can see what you mean about getting winded doing these methods with a full, healthy head of long hair. In a perfect world... there would be natural salons that do your method or whatever method the customer wants just to cut down on the maintenance part of natural hair care. (I think you should train them!)
If you're hair is limp after you take it out, try using a sculpting foam or if you really want try using a thicker curling cream I would recommend soft & beautiful botanicals sculpting foam or Taliah Waajid curly curl cream. You could do it wet if your hair dries fast. That's what I do if not then try it try and you'll get tighter curls.
I always have frizz but I used Jane Carter Leave-In Conditioner Spray last night and I'm frizz free today. I left my hair wet with each sections I sprayed the Jane Carter Leave-In Conditioner Spray and used the shea butter, sprayed water on my hair when I was done, took them out in the morning best twist out I ever had.
I actually love braid outs even though they are a bit more work. I think it's because it allows me to see more length. Once my hair is as long as yours curly maybe I'll love twist outs? lol
Your hair came out gorgeous. Now if only i could braid then i'd be set. The STRUGGLE lol.
I personally think the braid outs come out better and you don't have to stretch it like a twist out
It is so refreshing and uplifting to see beautifal natural sisters like Naptural85 and the many other women on UA-cam SHARING their knowledge on natural hair care.

Just watched your tutorial nice to see a 4c hair twin version as well... Whit's tips work on all type 4 hair. 😊
My favorite natural hair blogger. It was hard finding someone who has the same hair texture as me, but when I stumbled across your channel about a year ago I struck gold. You have the most amazing hair. Watching your videos had taught me so much on how to care for my hair. Thanks soooo much!!!
Of all the braid out tutorials I've seen, so far hands down yours is the best. Your hair looks beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing.
thank you for always being so honest about how labor intensive it is to do hair! i honestly get so impatient i just watch your videos for the fun of it! i honestly have to be in the mood, and i feel so much better about my laziness knowing you feel tired sometimes too.
I love the size of the curls and the volume! So simple but by far one of my favorites.
I love that you provide so much info for the styles and not just showing us but why you do it a certain way. Congrats on the baby! Stay well.
Miss Naptural, you get points just for taking time out of your busy day to help people. And congratulations again on your pregnancy. You're glowing! once I'm fully transitioned I plan to use your methods for twist outs and braid outs. love these tutorials.
There is a reason you have the most subbies out of all the natural hair girlies on UA-cam, ur the best!
I've done this for years and it's a very effective way to manage natural hair. For those worried about frizz add a lil frizz fighting serum in with the Shea butter. I also blast my hair with a tiny heat of my blow dryer and a diffuser
Hands down, nobody can do it better than Naptural85! LOVE IT!!
I love this braid out method, works so much better for me than a twist out or regular braid out. Thank you for the awesome tutorial.

Curl Envy is too real! Both you & your hair are phenomenal! Thanks for the tutorial
I felt your pain when you rolled your eyes! Taking out braids/twists is a drag! Thanks for the videos! You rock!
Thanks for your videos. Like you I am a 4A and I just made 8 months post big chop! I love to follow your videos because most of the styles and products that you use work for me. Keep bringing us great videos. Thanks!!

Hey Naptural85
I tried your twist out method and It was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS.
I recieved so many complements.
Absolutely gorgeous! Ur hair is so healthy and has a beautiful shine to it.
OMG, it worked! This is the first method that gave me good results, thank you so much girl. Now I know what to do from now on!
this came out soo noooice! I feel like although braid outs take longer your hair gets that crazy defined zig zag that just adds some extra oomph! lovely as usual =)

Your hair has grown sooo much in the past year.
This is the best braid-out I've ever seen!
Continuing from the other post....I know my hair wont ever look like yours - I don't ascribe to hair typing systems, but our textures are a bit different - but your tips and tutorials are incredibly helpful! You're fabulous, girl! Keep doing what you do!

This is such a great way to achieve defined braidouts with volume. Thanks for sharing!
Your hair always turns out so pretty!!
Cornrows are one of the best ways to achieve braid outs. she essentially did smaller (or should I say shorter) cornrows all over her hed so yes, cornrows will work very well to achieve this style and it will be less time consuming.

Yes...I agree with a previous poster. Your hair is really going to grow during your pregnancy.
Your styles really show the beauty of tightly curly hair... So nice!!! WOOOHOO!
so cute and innovative method of braiding, it was just as cute with the back unbraided and the two braids in the front left in..but beautiful style regardless!

Pregnancy is really becoming you!! You are extra lovely in this video! Thanks for the information!
YESS!!! and omg thanks for replying!!! most of the major youtubers like you never reply to peoples comments you rock!!
Beautiful hair....wow! Yes, braid outs are more tedious than twist outs, but do provide more definition I think.
Whitney, your hair is so gorgeous. Thank you for sharing and Congrats on the baby!
Your braiding skills are flawless!
Your hair is GORGEOUS! Love the style!

You can do NO WRONG when it comes to doing a tutorial about your gorgeous hair. Keep inspiring us with your lovely locks :-)
Your braid out is just as amazing as your twist outs! #inspiredagain
I love your unique natural curl pattern!! Hopefully this style will work on my hair w/o getting too frizzy
I agree braid outs are sooo time consuming but the end result is always simply beautiful!
I love this method. I've tried it twice and my hair was fuller, and less frizzy.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I would press like 100 times literally! We have the same hair texture and I can't wait until it gets to your length!
YES!!!! Man I have to conquer that braid, it looks sooo difficult!! I will try on my daughter first. Awesome video as usual!!
This style really looks good on you. I always love your videos!
AWESOME braid out. So happy you did a vid on that...braid outs seem to work better for me other than twist outs. Sucks because it takes foreverrr!
this is french braiding 101 too... totally needed this, thanks!!!
One of the best braidouts I've seen! Beautiful! I have to try this :)
You always have the prettiest braidouts.
oh and thank you so much for the "lifting the roots" tip! You saved me I used to look almost bald hahaha I use it for the front of my head too! But you gotta be careful not to ruin the curls.
your hair looks so perfect, it looks like a curly weave.
it came out so beautiful!! Congrats on your pregnancy as well!
Wow!!! Your hair always looks amazing! Hope you and your family are doing well.
Again your hair is soooo pretty. I'm glad you and baby are doing well!

Thank you so much for this video! I do braid outs all the time but I don't always get the look that I want and I have to deal with all the frizz. You have great techniques, thanks! :)
Love it! Love it! Love it! Glad that you are doing well! Can't wait to see an updated vlog!
Thanks for sharing this Whitney, especially since we know that Bobblehead is helping you feel a bit more tired these days! As always you've shared some great tips and your hair looks fabulous.
Your hair is BEYOND gorgeous!!! :)

If I got braid out results like that I would do it more often! Beautiful!
THIS IS THE BEST BRAID OUT EVER ILOVE IT!!!!!!
I absolutely love your hair texture!!!!
Your hair turned out pretty good!
This is really cute! I also love your natural hair texture! If I had you're hair texture, I would just wear it like that everyday! :)
omg I am so jealous! Everything you do to your hair is perfect!
lovely braidout and it has lots of fullness/volume too.
I love the face she makes when she spritz her hair with water
