- After the second showcase we finally had a chance to experience some Granblue Fantasy Relink Gameplay first hand with the demo! Here's my thoughts!

The names of the three mastery trees are:
1. Attack power
2. HP and resistance
3. Weapon collection bonus
Also, in HP and Resistance mastery tree is where you unlock perfect dodge and perfect guard.
In the english version, the first two are renamed to Offense and Defense
About the Coop being a open area levels, that does exist, where you go through open area with various locations 4 players and at the end, there is boss.
For those who care for co-op, there will be no co-op in the story mode however quest are co-op and there are more than just horde missions and boss missions. There are also "explore" "defend" "conquest" and "survival" missions.

Had a lot of fun with the demo. One thing I wanted for the combat was being able to switch between characters, though. Setting up combos and stuff with the party would be sick. Another thing would be using skills in the air as well.
You should be able to switch in the full game i far as i know

I just realized I spent like 5 hours doing just those 3 quests over and over AFTER the story. It's so fun
I did too and only with one character. It just feels so fun. Imagine farming for stuff and having more variety. Trying to master a character is so fun

yeah it's fun at the beginning, until you know how grindy this game like the web based game are. but i hope that this game is not as grindy f*ck fest like the web based game, and im playing the web based game from 2016 lol
@@denny2906 I'm def expecting it to be very grindy, but in my opinion that's a good thing with a game like this. Just gives you more reason to play more content
My first impressions immediately when I started quest mode is how monster huntary the game is it really feels like monster hunter and that got me so excited I tried 4 different characters and was having blast playing the game. It's a definite buy for me on PC.
I'm not too worried about mission variety, Monster Hunter offered, in essence, 1 mission type for 20 years and we can't get enough of the franchise. It's all about how GOOD the fights themselves end up being

I have 600 hours in a few Mh games and you're right, 80% of what you're doing is loading into a small map, finding the monster, then defeating it. But the game play loop is so addicting and offers so much variety and with a skill gap, that you can defeat the same monster with the same weapon 20 times and improve, or see something new every single time.
Honestly have no idea why folks would complain about the resolution with this kind of art style. The game looks beautiful on my ps5
Idk if it's cause they grew up with the best stuff orrr just plain got spoiled by PC but I'm with you too it's beautiful to me

Looks great to me on PS5 as well, which is what I'll get it on at launch. I have a pretty decent PC and this doesn't bother me at all. I'll probably buy it again for the PC though anyway because of mods and that :D and to support the game, hope it does well :)
Its because players who have 1440 monitors or 4k monitors would need that much of resolution to have a sharp visuals. If you play 1080p in a 4k or 1440p display, it would not look sharp and detailed as the 1080p resolution would get stretched out for the full screen resolution. Does that make sense pal? :)
@@lsnexus2080 I mean it makes sense but it’s still silly to complain about. I have a 4k tv and it looks great, definitely couldn’t imagine thinking it somehow wasn’t sharp enough. Nice condescension btw 🤙
I love Narmaya once you get her stance mechanic down she feels so rewarding. Nothing but swag in those combos.

Amazing what Cygames did here. First I got my favorite fighting game in years with GB Fantasy Versus Rising and now Relink which looks super promising.
Ya and they will continue to expand the franchise to more games so this is exciting because they have a fantastic world, characters and music.
now that they have the funding from the horse game, the sky is the limit
then you must try the web based game, and suffer from how grindy it is lol
All i want is an option for button mapping, zoom in/out and turning off dialogue while in combat, crossing my fingers for the pc version.
Yea I need some more FOV or zoom. But kinda wish we could turn off more HUD elements

The combat is simple yet amazingly flashy i love it im sold
My biggest takeaway was that I really wanted a training room to lab the characters. Something like the tutorial but freeform. The characters are varied enough that I feel like I'd like to really sit down with each one and take my time learning their intricacies (much like MH weapons). I'm also curious how much of the franchise's roster will get into this game, seeing as the demo allowed for a pretty decent cast to mess around with (I'm aware of Versus' roster which is why I ask this).
I went and did the three available quests to get a feel for the combat flow. I only did the quests a couple times because I don't want something like the Rise demo effect happening (Magnamalo getting rocked in full release). I skipped the main story because I want to experience it as fresh as possible. The weapon system reminds me of the old gacha gearing systems (feed mats to weapon to increase lvls and upgrade star rarity) and the Sigil trait system looks like it'll allow for some pretty varied ability combinations.
One of my complaints though is that the power system includes overall health as a increase to a characters power rating. This is a bit misleading though when you take for example ranged units like Rak that don't necessarily need HP. Rak was my MVP for my first attempts at the golem and the croc and he had the lowest rating of all the characters (he was in the upper 900s). I don't think the ratings are really taking into account conditional traits like Stamina (peak performance) and the combo power increasing trait, which can throw some people off especially if each quest shows a recommended power rating. It kinda makes me wish I had a dps breakdown to see how much different it can get.
Aside from that I'm still pretty interested in how this game will turn out. It's been a long time since that initial first trailer and I'm pretty excited to see what else is in store for this game.
I Really, really wish that we can change the buttons layout or at least invert the dodge / skill command cuz my brain wants to dodge with R1 for some reason😅
Maybe in full game and if not give them feedback. They are really well known for listening and implementing user feedback.
Yeah I tried to remap the buttons with the dualsense edge but the button indications in-game don't change as well so my brain was fighting trying to recognize the button I should be hitting 😭
Not sure why switching characters seems to be a popular request. The characters are all seemingly very "full" where they don't really have very much downtime and the other party members are actively AI controlled. It just feels like it would make combat even more hectic - but I guess for people who just need to ADHD the game by going 110% or something?
The 4k mode isn't too bad actually, still feels really responsive and looks a LOT better at the cost of motion clarity of course
I'll probably go pc unless I get bound to ps by friends. I could see the 4k mode being the pick for the campaign and just not super hardcore stuff

I agree, - while i myself prefer 60FPS for most scenarios i'd argue if it comes down to this topic it's more than just "fps" - there is a lot of stuff around it which impact it too, like framepacing in generall or input delay. So besides that 60 just looks somewhat smoother, quite some game tend to play worse in 30fps in general.
But than you have examples like this, where Devs put some magic into it, and while it took me like 10 min or so i got used to this (due i played it frist in performance mode) it plays pretty well afterwards.
So i also will stuck with the 4Kx30FPS Mode "this" time(rather rare in my case), because it plays pretty well, and in 4k for me the game looks much better. Like i geniunly mean it, the first time i booted in performance mode (without knewing the specs) i instantly saw that is 1080 and that charactermodels looks quite pixelated, which really rubbed me the wrong way. If it would've been 1440k as Ruri mentioned, i'd def. pick that over the 4k mode because 1440p still looks quite good and than it can compensates with 60 fps... but the 1080p....

This game will have on quest for multiplayers that i have seen so far: conquest,explore,defend,horde,boss,survival and raid... so yh it should be have somo co op exploration i hope
I was watching the showcase and saw the part were they showed the Quest types.
They showed 5 quest types, of which we have only seen 3 and there's an additional one that wasn't there.
Of the ones we haven't seen there's:
-Conquest
-Escort Battle
-Explore
Of the ones we have seen there's:
-Boss
-Horde
-Survival
ive been keeping up with the game pretty closely but I missed that there are escort and conquest quests

in the GBF web based, these mastery point are very important too boost your damage output, usually there are: attk boost, def boost, skill damage boost, critical rate boost and many more.
Cygames is as storied a developer in the gacha space as FROMSOFT is everywhere else. There's a lot of pedigree to this team and a quality standard that's far beyond the majority of AAA slop being shoveled around these days. The franchise has also been around long enough and with such high praise that you can bet Cygames respects this IP enough to not let anyone down.
Yeah whether they did it on purpose or not, they influenced how Gacha games should be made for a long time and even introduced a lot of tropes other games such as FGO even until Genshin Impact still used to this day. Heck the whole concept of sparking (pulling enough times to get the unit you want) came from them even if that one was unintentional.

What they’re not good at is using the SBA when the boss is in overdrive. Like bruh, it won’t do much damage but also I hate that the SBA basically becomes ready just as the enemy goes into overdrive
@@Eldergodconsultant you can set the SBA mode to wait so the AI doesnt use em.
@@Eldergodconsultant I think it's better to use sba during overdrive. The boss is more dangerous, more active. Full burst is like 20 seconds of free dps that you can use to break them with a good team.

already preordered the game as i finished the demo, i have been waiting for this for years, and finally it's coming out
Something I only noticed after playing around with the demo a bit is that Cygames is also responsible for Shadowverse and more importantly Shadowverse Champion's Battle - a full-fledged singleplayer RPG using the cardgame from their mobile app. Very fun game. Whatever these guys are doing, it does seem like they have interest in branching out their mobile franchises to console beyond gacha, which I think is kinda cool.
Sadly, the combat of this game is a bit too flashy (as in, I can't see what I'm doing half the time) for my liking, but it is very cool.
With regard to performance, I'm pretty sure the lighting effects are higher in quality mode, so I actually played the demo at 4K30 myself.
Just played the story demo and I really enjoyed. I just hope they let you customize the HUD in the full version. It's way too busy for my tastes.
Playing the story gave me YS vibes and man am I looking forward to YS 10 when it drops (8 and 9 are highly recommended if you like action RPGs). The combat is fun and the exploration was fun this is going to be a real good time.
Ys 10 slaps, I'm only midway so it hasn't eclipsed 8/9 yet but all the new mechanics feel good and karja is the bro
for the same reason I got Fate samurai remnant, I'm buying this game for the amazing art style, plus I'm a sucker for fast paced combat orientated anime games, gives a certain power fantasy you don't get a lot with games much these days
Sorry if this was addressed in the video, but I have no sound while I'm at work and am too impatient to wait to ask! How's the party AI? I always have a hard time trusting AI partymates having GOOD AI in action JRPGs. Even if there is something like gambits given to them.
During the demo they were actually pretty good, I never felt like I lost because the AI.
Io's AI can easily get MVP in quest mode if you slack off too much. they even dodge perfectly.
So if you suck, everyone suck. It's on you lol.
Bro on my experience the AI top the random lobbies I be joining
AI are generally quite good, they don't die very often and play their roles effectively. They don't do things like picking up and throwing the bombs in the Rock Golem fight, and rarely turn their attention towards non-boss enemies. That actually turns out to be a good thing, though, since the timing on when you kill the adds and when you throw the bombs is crucial to getting a low time (on the demo, at least, where you can't outlevel the challenge).
Funny enough it's pretty decent. For example in the golem fight, which is the hardest content in the demo, they barely died in my playthroughs. Went once in a team with my friend and 2 AIs and we were the only ones that fell through the whole fight. If you fall down though, they immidiately run to pick you up, so if the boss has 1 pixel of HP left they will ignore it to save you.
To be honest, i am kinda excited for this. I knew granblue fantasy but never really got into the gamea. I kinda did read abiut the story and the characters. Still this could be a lot of fun and a way to have new people know this series.

hehe, calm your worries. These guys have been keeping things under wraps extremely well. With that said, they already showed that in some multiplayer missions, you'll be running in some maps to the enemy.
After playing the demo I've decided to buy the game on PC. There's no cross play and all my friends are on PC. Also the graphics ( not resolution) are really low for being 1080p60 so I really can't bring myself to pay for that experience
Im still not sold on it. The demo is good but it seems like a multiplayer mobile game made for console. I like Tales of Arise which is what this looks like but Granblue is super hyper visually and sometimes i couldnt see where or what i was doing because there was so much happening on screen. I cant decide to buy Granblue Fantasy Relink or Like a Dragon IW first. Thoughts anyone???
There's two challange totems as far as i know. The other is by a windmill in the buring village.
Omg im having a blast with this demo i know nothung about the series but when you try this for yaself your in for a ride the graphics materful art literally the combat all i can say is incredible flows good stuff going on everywere like a tales of aries chaos everywere i can not wait for this to drop what a game this will be for sure loved it
The story portion of the demo is locked to story difficulty, I wish we could have change difficulties to see how difficult the game can be
There are two of those red alters in the story demo the first is near the windmill.

Today I was trying out Zeta against the Golem and I think we were in the same team
I played with every character until i felt like i understood them. My bench mark was soloing the second quest with s++. I had fun with every character even the ones i didnt i would. It was just fun to find out how each character worked. You were close on narmya. U swap back and forth between stances and gain butterflies as fast as possible. Butterflies increase her damage by doing additional hits. Most of the skills she has (at least in the demo) will use up her butterflies and do more damage. The exception to this is her charge slash skill. Instead of using the butterflies the more butterflies she has the faster the attack charges. Dont confuse that with her standard charge slash in her sheathed stance. Which you should be using alot since it builds butterflies. The standard charge slash charges faster after u hit sith any skill or after her 3rd and 4th normal attack in the stance.
Ya once you get her flow done she feels great

I ssplusd The goal of mission yesterday funnily enough is reckon I was using his alternate gun with attack damage signal 3 combo Master Sigel 3 and crit 3 and we got all the prerequisites we cleared within three minutes No one got down and three link attacked It was epic

I want minimap and be able to move camera when locked on. BTW to talk to the omen stone you dont need to talk to npc or select that, is there from the beginning, so just go towards it before advancing the story
I need to spread this information before release because i don't see nearly enough people utilizing it. If you get downed, MASH YOUR FACE BUTTONS. You will pick yourself up considerably faster and your team can focus on doing damage
About your last point, i believe they showed a multiplayer gameplay with the 4 knights(lancelot, percival, vane and siegfried) against the red dragon where they went through a level before fighting the boss. So i expect more variety on that front (unless they changed it in latter builds).
What got me a bit concerned about variety however, is that so far we have seen the same gimmick being applied in 2 boss fights so far, that being the "kill the add and throw them at the boss to do dmg/something else", in both in the golem fight and in the white dragon fight where you would do that to remove buffs from the boss. I hope they have more variety when it comes to boss mechanics than just that.
how fast or how slow did you get the feel of the combat? or the combat started to just click! seeing as you've played Genshin, how fast or slow did the combat system just click for you in Genshin as compared to Relink? I dunno if you've played Tales of Arise but for me, that game's combat took me a while to really click and then when I stop playing the game for after a week or two, it takes me a while again for the combat to feel smooth again, like i'm always needing to relearn the nuances of the combat, unlike in Genshin, I can stop playing for a week or two but when I come back, combat still feels 2nd nature, like riding a bicycle. so i wanna how Relink's combat feel compares.

There are 3 more quest types in the full game that we don't see in the demo and one of them if i remember from previous showcases has a explore area thing as well which has a boss at the end of it on top of the normal enemies I think it was called area control type for coop
Rackam's bull's Eye blast skill can be used in the air.
I hope cygames will add a class system for mc in the future.

potential problems i see are progression and build varieity. Weapons seem to be stat sticks and those 3 gems you can slot in are all pretty boring stat increases. That isn't good.
The issue with 1440p is that Sony didn't support it until September 2022 and it still doesn't support VRR even after it being implemented for slightly over a year now.
That’s console native resolution, most games can still render at 1440p even if the console is outputting 4k, tons of games do this.
Does anyone know if if there’s a way to zoom the camera out during combat?
Man, if I was a video game reviewer, Id suck at it. "Hey guys, so here is my take on the graphics! To be honest it looks really good!" Thats it, no mention of 1440P X amount of FPS....if it plays fine...its fine in my book lol

I played the demo, How do you guys feel about It? The game have a Very pleasing graphics and animations but i had my hand hurting from too much Button mashing with almost Very character...kinda throw me off realy...
I thought it was button mashy too at first. Do yourself a favor and go do the first horde mode quest completely solo (remove the ai). Then try & understand the combat. It can be pretty difficult actually, but VERY fun & engaging.
The only problem I really have is that the combat feels a bit floaty. There is no weight behind the attacks.
Finally got the golem down with an awesome group but man it was literally 3:00 on the mark.
Holy shit though the game is fun and I can't wait to jump in to the full release if for no other reason to see just how good I can get at Narmaya.
I do wonder though is Charlotta like really strong cause anytime someone used her in my group they always seem to get MVP with anywhere from 70k to 100k honor points, the highest I've managed with Narmaya is like 70k.
My best time on golem was 2:41. The bombs that the adds drop can do 10k damage each, which means 40k free damage just for doing that right. But you have to make sure you don't use them during Bloodthirst or else they will do much less damage.
Charlotte with Combo booster, Tyranny and her atk buff dish out a ton of damage if she doesn't get hit

How did you even beat the mobs in the omen stone?
There is too many, too low DPS and you are on a timer. That is clearly meant for you to come back to the story mode later to do.
are there going to be unlockable costumes? not just different colors?
I think I heard somewhere there is a transmog system. So you change the looks of your armor and weapons.

4k 30 fps is actually pretty damn good for this game, at least from what I played.
I was looking forward to this game for a long time. After playing the demo I can honestly say I'm probably going to wait for the game to go on sale. At least for me personally, I can see it getting pretty repetitive.
Before the demo I was going to pre order. After the demo, I'm not interested, thats NEVER happened to me before.
It was just bland, the systems arent engaging.
I mainly only play single player games. I hope that there isn't co-op trophies so I can get the platinum.
you can do the multiplayer quests solo too with AI party members so everything can be done in solo
now the pc version needs to be not shitty so i can play in stable 4k 60 fps and i am happy until mh wilds

Gameplay-wise, I built her to do crits and support. She has def up/down, attack up... She just feels great imo.

yea lock on is pretty weird too i jist use it when i cant turn to see my enemy fast enough even with sensitivity at max

The story mode is closer to Tales where you move from one area to another (while being able to come back to the town hub anytime to do multiplayer)

@@henrytalley3739 you can technically backtrack by selecting that chapter again coz theres some challenges that cant be done on your first go in the area so you can revisit em later when you're stronger

@@last-yakuza-8363 it's obvious they want you to build a character up. The amount of progression each character has it would be almost to keep up with building 4 characters. Think of the characters as weapons in mh. Endgame you pretty much have to pick one to build around.

To be fair most AAA titles on ps5 have their performance modes in 1080p@60fps, its really only indie and some AA titles that we see being 4K@60fps, most TVs dont support 1440p so i understand why most ps5 titles dont support it, 1080p@60-120fps is pretty standard for ps5 performance modes
