  • This was sent in by our patron and supporter Barry and he said that I would really enjoy seeing Stevie on here looking so happy and healthy... and he was! It was so gratifying to see him just up there shining. Everyone on the stage couldn't keep their eyes off of him. I am new to this show "Night Music" but I really enjoyed this.

My youngest son graduated clean and decided to do coke at graduation party. He went through a 10 year period of hell. And as his mother I was so heartbroken. But he got clean spending 3 weeks on a concrete jail shower floor. He spent 4 more months there and came out CLEAN ❤. He is 36 and has a great job and has never looked back. So as a mother, I understand. You get clean when YOU are ready. I’m proud of you too my friend. Live and enjoy the good life ❤❤❤

    I love love love Stevie!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And I really hunk you are now ready for Life Without You live from The Capitol Theater.
    Hints:
    He tunes his guitar
    Switches his guitar
    Fixes his pedals
    Fixes his amps
Towards the nd turns to his crew off stage grins and says I list my tooth…grins…and mouths gone and giggles
Through all this, he appears to be looking for the lost tooth or cap.
    But he finishes the song
Also, he gives a speech mid song relating to what was going on in Africa with the apartheid which was separating people by their race. Stevie believed we should all love each other and you can really feel it in this song. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

There were plenty of BIG star musicians that smiled when SRV played, not to mention they also wanted him to play with them. To name of few of these stars, BB King, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Copeland and more.

Stevie's recovery was everything. He spoke about his concerns that maybe his music would suffer as a result of getting clean, but in fact it seemed to more clearly channel his emotions and elevate his connection to others through his music. He wrote "Riviera Paradise" and dedicated his performance of this instrumental masterpiece directly to those who were struggling with addiction & recovery. It's his finest performance, in my opinion. Would love to see you react to that.

Here, hear on Night Music. IT was the best, and btw, the guitarist standing next to Stevie is the late Hiram Bullock, who is a legend himself. Every member of that house band was. One of the things that made that show so unforgettable.

Btw an interesting factoid about the percussionist with the sunglasses, Don Alias. He played in the iconic Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” sessions in 1969. Perhaps another musical journey you might want to explore at some point, meaning Miles Davis 1969-1975 doing experimental Jazz-Rock

As another commentator mentioned , the "other" guitarist with a beat up strat is the late great Hiram Bullock , master of Jazz/Rock fusion. Sanborn has some great live vids featuring Hiram. Also Sting did a cover of Hendrix's Little Wing and Hiram played the solos.
Three other Stevie reactions i recommend:
    1. Life Without You (Capitol theatre). Stevie fully reveals his Heart and Soul. Pure magic.
    2. Tightrope from Austin City Limits. Another In Step song all about our addictions and recovery.
    3. Riveria Paradise also from Austin City Limits. His beautiful instrumental closing In Step (it was our wedding song back in 1992).
Personally, I'm going on 27 years sober. My kids have no memory of drunk/high dad. That alone i cherish. How shocking was it when we lost Stevie in 1990? It made me question many things about God, life and living day to day.
I honor how open and revealing you are! Peace.

Ned from Spain again. When this show appeared on late night TV I couldn't believe a major network had suddenly decided to give the public this amazing gift. I didn't last long as it's ratings were low, partially because it was on really late, it was for music freaks like you n me, plus the main sponsor Michelob wasn't getting the financial result it wanted and the show was axed. A massive mix of styles but highly recommended.

I celebrated 34 years of continuous sobriety on March 3 and I didn’t do it by myself. I got a sponsor, and worked the program on a daily basis, and still do it to this day.
So I know from experience and from listening to you, that you’re just too damaged to try to do this by yourself. If you’re not going to meetings every day and putting your sobriety first, then you will relapse again.
Having been in 8 rehabs I’m sure you’ve heard this all before, but it’s true nonetheless.
So do yourself a favor. Go to meetings, help others, get a sponsor, and work, the steps and the traditions. Also remember that “Faith without works is dead.“ 🕊❤️🎼

I've been clean for 4 years and haven't been to a meeting once. It's why it worked this time. Sponsors and steps are for people to new to recovery. I've been through it all. I joined the rooms back in 2012 and every time I put myself in that chair and kept OBSESSING over my past, I kept relapsing. If you need another man to keep you clean, that's your prerogative. I keep it between my creator and me and my lady. That's all I've needed. You don't need to chain yourself to a seat to remain sober lol... dummy.

In Step, SRV's final Album with double trouble, is a message of hope and amends, to any addiction, any time any where. ... Please listen to Studio cuts from this Album. ( Ain' knocking the live cuts from this album, but it was the late 80's , and technology, wasnt that good.
    Terrific Album though!

Congratulations on your sobriety. My son has gotten sober and is now a rehab counselor. It's a journey.
There's a 14 yr old Taj Farrant that plays Crossfire sometimes at his shows. He is back in Australia for their huge Byron Bay Blues festival and they will be back to continue his tour and play at a number of blues festivals and opening for Buddy Guy a couple of times. Buddy was friends with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Taj is also going to be a performer on Joe Bonamassa's blues cruise next year. Taj just recently released his 4th single House Always Wins. It went to #1 on the iTunes blues charts. This was his 4th song to go to #1 in a year. Crossroads, Cruz and Bad Trip also did too. Taj is selling out shows around the US. You can't say enough good about Taj. His inspiration is Gary Moore and he plays Parisienne Walkways as a tribute to him. ua-cam.com/video/PMdqV4xfUe4/v-deo.htmlsi=XZ5j6f-QWVOjGmEl
Taj is well liked and mentored and has performed with some of the great guitar players and musicians. He has performed with Carlos Santana, Orianthi, Rob Thomas, Christone Kingfish Ingram, Eric Gales and others. Morris Hayes who was Prince's longtime musical director and keyboard player has even performed Purple Rain with Taj.

👏🙌👌✌️I'm here for every Stevie Ray Sunday🎸🎶💙💯. FYI El Macombo is the only venue that will do some blocking but otherwise not a problem. Yes we do love clean and sober and happy Stevie the best. Congratulations on finally "flipping that switch" in your own life. You will never regret that! As far as all the sweating you talk about is from the El Macombo. He had IV fluids prior to going on stage for dehydration so it was very excessive. He still sweated sober. Your first look last week at sober Stevie saw that he wasn't sweating but it was only the 2nd song in the set. He does work hard and always gives 200% so he earns every bead.
I am really enjoying your channel but especially your discovery of Stevie. You have many more delights to discover.
You are ready to witness his "Life Without You" as performed at the Capitol Theatre (no block) in 1985. He created this song after the sudden passing of his good friend Charley Wirz. You have to see it to believe it. Starts with tuning problems, then switching guitars, adjusts foot pedals and amps to bring the replaced guitar up to where he needs it to be, all the while just killing it on the guitar while singing‼️. Even more surprises....as well

I've been a musician since 1963 and I've heard many of the great live including Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Jeff Beck and opened for many national acts. I think the best guitar performance ever recorded is Gary's rendition of the song "THE MESSIAH WILL COME AGAIN" at the Montreax Jazz Festival.
