I have a Bergara Wilderness Hunter in 6.5cm and put the PA Apollo scope on it. That particular Bergara has more of a traditional stock and isn’t quite as expensive as their HMR mode. I’ve shot my buddies HRM some and while it’s great, I think it’s too heavy for a field rifle. The PA scope is a perfect match for that rifle both in capability and cost. Even with low rings I did have to put a Bradley cheek riser on it to get a proper cheek rest. Magpul bipod and rifleman sling rounded out budget friendly yet quality build. My only regret is that the rifle is in 6.5cm instead of .308 but that’s because of my personal situation. 6.5 was great when I lived in AZ and had the ability to shoot 500+ yards. Now I’m in MI and only get a chance to shoot past 100yards a couple times a year. This may not be a popular statement but unless you’re regularly shooting past 500 yards, I don’t think 6.5cm offers enough benefit to justify the cost.
100% agree on the Primary Arms optics value, and I enjoy your videos. I would disagree a lot on the FFP importance. If you're running PRS matches where a rangefinder is not allowed, then I get it. Otherwise the cost to benefit is iffy. You didn't mention, you can still estimate with SFP, which works at a calibrated Magnification. Now, wIth large variable FFP scopes, I find that at minimum magnification, the reticle is pretty much useless, and then at max magnification, the reticle gets large enough to obstruct smaller targets at long distance. This is ESPECIALLY true if you're a hunter, or this target weapon will do double duty hunting. FFP reticles get lost in brush far too easily at minimum magnification. The only ones I found that did it right are the Burris Veracity, which use narrow triangles converging on the center reticle, so at minimum magnification you pretty much have a duplex, that is Very useable. The tactical reticles, which I've tried from several brands, no way would I trust them in a hunting situation where I needed to make a quick shot. So, for me personally, I stick with Second focal plane, use a rangefinder, and if I absolutely have to estimate with the reticle, use the calibrated magnification setting. Just some things to consider. My go to? NF NX8 4-32x50, second focal, MOAR reticle. It has served comfortably hunting brushy river bottoms, as well as prone long shots, where I have time to range and dial up. This is on a 7-mag I use for western big game. It sounds silly, but I actually use this rifle scope as my back country spotter, instead of carrying the extra weight. I'm seriously considering buying a second NX8 in the 2.5-20x for my smaller caliber hunting rifles.
Thanks for the shout out. What the buyers viewers didn't hear is that KB explained why the heights were different. It was due to one score being in meters vs yards. The smart people at Primary Arms took the difference in yards & meters into account and made the adjustment accordingly.
The 34mm tube compared to a 30mm tube. As far as light gathering is debatable. The glass quality and types of coatings and magnification range. Are the primary differences in light gathering. The advantage of the 34mm tube is the ability to have more travel in the turret adjustments.
I remember that video you did on your MPA, that's extremely bad ass.... I remember creedzilla👍 I still haven't decided what rifle to get yet, that MPA is tempting, need to save more though. Im going to get the PA platinum series with the Athena Retical.. That golf ball shot, truly unbelievable.. Thanks for the video, I have learned alot. Stay safe....Steve from Chicago🇺🇸
Sweet video. I just got a SA Waypoint in 6.5CM. I got a Viper PST Gen2 but have to send it in for warranty issues. What mount did you use on that 6-30x?
I badly want to get into long range shooting but I'm hard pressed for cash!!! I have a bolt gun in .243 win I use for coyote hunting but it's a budget rifle scope combo! (mossberg patriot/vortex)

My dream set up!
Great shot - had to replay that a few times. Great video and info as always. Always enjoy your videos both gear and current events 👍👍👍

You are correct. Had to keep it simple in this video, we could spend hours on the glass subject alone
@@kotaboy32 100% correct on that. Love the primary arms optics
Can always count on Great info from You Brother, Thanks as always 👊😁

Thanks for the video, I have learned alot.

Thanks
If Steve reads this the Performance Center LRR from Thompson Center is a phenomenal option especially for the money...
Thanks KB
KB-32 what reticle would you recommend for 6mm ARC?
The Athena.... You'll want to dial it in. Velocity, ballistic coefficient, spin rate and you're on Target
The Griffin would also be a good optic as well. You'll want turret adjustment for that round
@@kotaboy32 thanks for the quick response Brother 😉👊👍😁🇺🇸
That rifle is "Bad to the BONE"!!!!
Holy moly, good shooting, 👍
'Death from above' 82nd Airborne
Hell yeah

What mount did you use on that 6-30x?
Spurh
@@kotaboy32 that’s what I thought but didn’t know if there was a company that made a similar mount. Thanks for the reply and all the content!
I’m intrigued with your tripod setup. You appear to have a premium bowl with an affordable tripod. I’d love to know your review, but couldn’t find it.
Wow very nice tnx!
What do you think about the burris signature hd 5-25 ×50 with the 6.5 reticle?
Can you just dial in the Apollo like the Athena?
Yes
Tell your buddy to grab a bergara over any of the 3 he mentioned
Just curious but has anyone had a problem with reticle cant in the Platinum series scopes ?
For a precision rifle I cannot stand that center chevron. I have a PA optic on my DD5v3 but for my bolt guns, I prefer a center dot.
What do you recommend for a 6.5PRC for a scope. Will the glx 6.5Cr work for that rifle
I’ve been weighing the SLX 5-25 and the GLX 4.5-27…wondering if the GLX is worth the extra cost.
May I ask, what make is that AR10, upper you have in this video?
There's a good shot on that golf ball. Do you normally get so excited when you hit it?...I'll just leave this here...lol
What tripod is that...
Tripod is the Innorel, the clamp is Really right stuff. I've done a few videos on the setup
What company do you guys like more Primary Arms or Vortex?
PA all day when it comes to scopes. The vortex UH-1 is pretty dope.
I'd look at the warranty & decide.
👍
