      LillKrull Centerpartiet is liberal economically as well. Liberal as in free market liberalism. The definition of liberalism as an ideology is unchanging, regardless of national standards. America has corrupted the terms "conservative vs liberal" into basically meaning "right vs left" or "republican vs democrat". Traditionally, conservatism is a very different ideology to liberalism. Besides perhaps SD, the parliament of Sweden has no conservative parties.

    • @livedandletdie
      @livedandletdie 6 років тому +5

      None of your business, well in Sweden well yes SD is the only moderately conservative party, but conservative isn't really a thing in Sweden, it's a bunch of socialists that wished they were as left leaning as the communists, and then there are the Social Democratic parties that are the most left leaning right wingers imaginable.
      And if we grouped the parties into 3 categories, then we get.
      Socialists - Green Party, Left Party, Social Democrats...
      Social Democrats - The Christian Democrats, The Liberals, The Centrists, The Moderates...
      Conservative - Sweden Democrats.
      The list is weird in that that we have 2 super socialist parties and one slightly socialist party and then everyone else is a Social democrat and 2 of the Social Democrat parties are even named after being in the center. The Centrists and the moderates. The Liberals used to be called the people's party, now I don't know if they got scared of their own name once they learned English and got a hold of that all Dictator nations are named that.

    In sweden there’s a very high importance of equality between men and women. Everyone is the same basically. Therefore I think it’s very strange that you would employ people based on what they have between their legs and not their competence. Könskvotering is a radical idea that should not be imposed.

    • @zeffe0528
      @zeffe0528 6 років тому +6

      SlushPanic TV actually they employ men that are less educated than women. There are more women that have exams from universitybut still companies employ men that has not even gone one course at one. That is because many men employ men. Also women employ men.

    • @AlexanderCorinUC79vSK
      @AlexanderCorinUC79vSK 6 років тому +6

      @@zeffe0528 but the problem is that this is not the case for all companies, take DICE for example, the swedish game developer studio. They have around 94% men and 6% woman in the studio, why? Because men are more into games than womens and want to work with that because of that factor, so if könskvotering would be added it would mean that the company needs to search for woman that would replace the men that were in the studio before, even if they are maybe doing the job worse or are not into it as much. Sure there are some woman who like the job too but there is usually more men. So because of this, men would have a lower chance to get employed just because there are less woman in the market (more men will need to fight for one job than woman will do for another). This would not be equal at all and it's wrong because of this. There is not really a problem with that 96% are men in a company, people that work SHOULD NEVER get evaluated because their gender, only their skill. But this system would judge them for their gender. Just another stupid feminist idea.

But I think opinions like these are grounded in a very pure sense of humanity, and following your heart in politics, whether in elections or actual active and practiced politics, will make the world a better place. I strongly relate to people responding to me with "yeah but…." in political discussion, many agree in a sense but also can not see it implemented realistically, and that's why I do believe that ideology should be a major part of our decisions in elections. Many have lost faith, they believe we won't be able to do better, but on my best days I do believe so, and I think that as long as we believe, we can do!

Whether or not he did it intentionally, he literally just made the statement that it is acceptable to determine the worth of human beings monetarily, which almost all modern philosophers agree is a 'category error' which means they are not comparable units. Obviously this notion exists in Sweden because capitalism is built upon it, but capitalism seeks to hide it with the middleman of labor.

      Well inside the EU it depends on the country. Some countries say that as immigrant you have to learn the language within one year (or at least start learning it) while refugees first have to do this after 3 years. Refugees often are seen as some who move back to theire original country within a limited time. Like the german minister responsible for for refugees last year still said that the refugees (guess he talks about the 1,5 million refugees germany has, mainly from Syriah) are going to move back home. Therefore governments often don't integrate refugees as much as they would do with immigrants.

Not all refugees are bad just like not all German are Nazi and all white ppl are invader. United States for example don't have issues with refugees especially Muslims as much as they do with native born in America. Catholic churches for example.!!

    I really like you doing this! It is good to discuss politics since it affects us all, and usually a lot of people have important takes on an issue.
    About Böneutrop: The sound that comes from a minaret from a mosque is usually a “call to come to pray” not an actual prayer. Today it is used in, i think 2 places in the whole country. Today it can be disallowed or infringed due to if it is disturbing people around. So it is about both freedom of religion and noice.

      The thing is that if everyone has to hear it, that infringes on their freedom of religion; they're not allowed to not partake in Islam. Sweden is not a muslim country, nor will it never be allowed to be. We can't have anyone in here who will not respect the continued dominance of Swedish culture.

    Part of what was pushing things to the "right" of the spectrum was that here Stefan was bringing in a lot of beliefs rooted in the American framework (things like "the employer should be able to decide what they pay people", it's up to individuals to bargain their own wages, and frequent references to the idea of people supporting themselves through work, which socialism recognises isn't always possible and that it's about everyone being supported by the whole). Some of the things he was saying are very much American beliefs that are not necessarily tied to the fact that they create positive outcomes, it's more what is felt to be true or important that doesn't necessarily have evidence.
    Both sides of the spectrum can do this in advocating what's "true" or "right" or even what "happens in reality", but the fact that the Nordic countries have the results they do socially and have a VERY different approach to the States suggests that starting from what America does isn't the right way to go into this conversation. It's interesting that I've watched later episodes and Stefan has clearly moved on some of these positions as he's clearly gotten the point of this through his Swedish lived experience.

    The refugee question is a difficult one. I moved to Sweden last year (specifically Norrköping), I am in SFI (Swedish for Immigrants). For those who don't know, SFI is free school offered for those who need to learn or fine tune their Swedish. The whole system is overwhelmed with the amount of refugees and immigrants coming in. Even though SFI is short staffed and their money is being stretched for books, other supplies and paying staff, what I love about it is it encourages us to dive into Swedish social culture and the working world. For example, last week we had a speaker come and talk to us about restaurant work, offering a course in restaurant knowledge that does not interfere with our classes. There are also courses one can take to learn the specific vocabulary for the job they want or perhaps a similar / same one they had in their homeland. Sweden does a wonderful job ingratiating and encouraging people, but I can definitely understand why it is also beneficial to decrease the amount of people we accept because of the resources being stretched as far as they are.

    25:38 "so you're more liberal in Sweden", Yes, no, maybe? The American term for "liberal" is pretty much the same as your term for "democrat", which includes Liberals *and* more left-wing socialist-type of politics (such as social-democracy). What we call in Sweden a liberal, is a rightwing. I guess this reflects the political history of Sweden and America quite a bit...
    And the term "conservative" only means that you would want to bring back the times of old (Edit: or rather change in a slow pace), which technically could mean left politics, there are, for example, people who think Sverigedemokraterna (the nationalists and conservatives) are too far left.

And people in Sweden are not that religious so they don't wanna hear that. The point of inträdesjobb för nyanlända is that refugees or immigrants in general often have a hard time finding work in Sweden - And a lot of them are hired illegaly and paid less money and have no employment securities or benefits. So the point is to make immigrants and refugees be able to get work legally, which will help them be integrated into society and be more motivated to learn Swedish. There’s been big problems with integration of immigrants/refugees into Swedish society so the law is supposed to help the integration problems.

    • @MickdeRaad
      @MickdeRaad 6 років тому +4

      Have to point out that immigrants are fully legally able to get legal jobs, but because they often lack education they have a hard time doing so. An argument against inträdesjobb is that these already poor and alienated societies get even more poor and alienated because of the way lower pay the swedish right wants them to have. Once employers get away with giving employees way lower pay than is allowed now they won't be willingly give them a raise even though they eventually would have learned the job. This could lead to more segregation in the long run.

      Another reason why some parties are sceptical about this is the way that the salaries and terms are negotiated (called "den svenska modellen"), where the workforce is organised in unions which negotiates the terms and salaries. Thus, the government today has no influence on the salaries (e.g. there is no minimum salary) and some are afraid that introducing inträdesjobb could lead to social dumping. They instead argue that the government should stay out of it and trust that the labour market knows best, which has been precedence for about 100 years ago since an agreement between labour unions and Social Democrats.

    Regarding the paternity/maternityleave. It is enforced somewhat today, and that rule is considered one of the most impactful policys for increased equality. In 1980 only 5% of the leave was taken by men, by 1995 a 30 out of 225 days were locked to one partner, in 2002 that was increased to 60 out of 225. The year after, in 2003, 17% of the leave was taken by men. Today about 25% of the leave is taken by men. So it is still highly unequal but it is slowly getting better.

    The bit with the school was a... frightening bit of insight into the american mindset.
    Allowing the free market and corporations to dictate how the key functions of society (education, health care, law enforcement etc) operates is pure madness.
    It is the honorbound duty of those in power to make sure that society and the nation functions.
    They can't do that without power over key aspects, the pillars of the nation if you will, outside of the hands of the people i.e. the elected officials and the state backed by the taxpayers.
    Maybe it has something to do with how we in Sweden tend to think of the state as more of an extension and construct of the people.
    Hence why we don't feel comfortable with having key societal functions in the hands of private interests (and thus in the hands of individuals, not the community and the people).
    That, and we've learned from experience that privatizing things tend to invite unscrupulous, dangerously avaricious and downright criminal elements into those areas of subsequently emerging business.
    Privatizing parts of the educational system and health care system have already shown a complete nose-dive in quality of care and education, for instance.

    Muslim prayers in question could never be called freedom of speech. Sure, you are allowed to say pretty much what you'd like, but certainly not in ANY WAY you'd like. There are only a few mosques in Sweden who are permitted to do this today (and only once on fridays), none in Norrköping which is why you probably haven't heard it. Should you do the same (in either Sweden or America) you would certainly be arrested for public disorder or something similar. We are talking about speakers sending out 110 dB (same as concerts are allowed as for volume) in household areas.

    hahah as a swede, it was soo exciting to watch you, as an american, take that quiz. I actually thought you would be like more conservative than you were just because the USA, in my opinion, is very right winged. And sure, your results showed a clear right wing but on the other hand you voted a couple of questions as I, a passionate member of Vänsterpartiet, would. For example, the question of könskvotering. I actually sat here the whole video and there were soo many things I wanted to say to you, so many other perspectives I wanted to be seen. Politics has always been kind of a passion of mine just because I think it is so important and actually a responsibility we have to be aware of them. Democratic rights means democratic responsibilities, kind of. And just because I choose to be well educated in field I feel like I have a pretty good knowledge of both pro's and con's within each proposion that I wanted sooo bad to be able to share with you. The guy actually knew quite a bit but as said, there were a cuple of perspectives he did not brought up, or at least did not say in the video. I also feel like you should have taken one left winged person and one right winged to give you different perspectives even though I do not think your results would have differed very much from what they are now. It is just important to get to know both sides. Also, I became quite happy hearing you guys discuss the matter actually just because I think all of you was really humle and really tried to think about pro's and con's and revaluate your opinions. That is a really good trait and something I think most of us could improve because often, when going into discussions, we have already made up our minds which makes the discussion quite pointless. And once again, it was really interesting hearing you talk, just because your opinions differed from mine. I would say we have the same values but a key point, which makes us vote different, is the fact that I do not consider freedom equals not having the state telling us partly what to do in some cases. I consider freedom being having the possibility to choose for yourself and just because I think that our possibilities differ so much depending on for example your class. If your parents are low class you have not got the same possibilities as someone of high class in terms of, for example school and health care and I think that is very unfair and a waste of talent of those born low class. I think we all would have benefit from having those people being able to have a well paid job and therefore being able to give more back to the society in taxes. And because of this I think the state should give us the same possibilities meaning it has to compensate those born low class for having less possibilities to begin with. Now I have to go but I really enjoyed the video and I admire you guys for being brave enough to talk about this openly. We all need to discuss this more and realize we have a lot to learn from each others perspectives because no one can know everything

    This Thursday I was on a debate with my School, and they talked and so on but one thing that caught my attention a bit more than everything else was that "Vänsterpariet" said something about the school that they wanted... They said that they wanted to remove grades in Swedish school for some reasons and that it would randomly choose who enters a specific high school. I have some huge problems with this.
    1. Removing grades maybe reduce stress levels but it's gonna be way harder for companys to judge how good people are when they hire someone, people with forein names will have less chance to get a job and so on...
    2. That it randomly would choose who enters a high scool??? WTF so if I work my ass of in school I would have same chance to enter as someone that doesnt care a shit about school.
    Give me a favour and do not ever vote for Vänsterpartiet. I know we have voting rights in Sweden and no one should tell you what to vote for but seriously, this is so bad that I couldn't believe it.

    • @ErikaLindberg
      @ErikaLindberg 6 років тому +2

      1. Employers rarely if ever look at grades when they hire people. They look at their resume, what education and experience they have. Grades as a concept can be problematic in that they are highly inconsistent, an A at one school may be a completely different grade at another school.
      2. I don't have a strong opinion either way (fritt skolval vs. .. inte fritt skolval), what I disagree with in your comment is that you think you should have a higher chance of entering high school than someone who doesn't care about school. We're talking about high school here. Every single person should go to high school or an alternative such as folkhögskola or komvux. It should be the bare minimum, in general. NO ONE should be denied to enter high school, as long as they have passing grades from högstadiet.

Adhan sounds way more pleasing than church bells but it has a lot more issues with it because of the words spoken so I really can not support it. My personal opinion is not to have church bells or Adhan because I don't think that it is healthy for our society and people but also that you have no right to oppose your religious beliefs on other people in a public space in that manner daily and especially not since these religions do not think kindly of HBTQIADP+ people, atheist, women, sinners, animals and people of other religions(to hear it sends a clear message that you are not welcome in this area).

    About the entry jobs, it's intended to help immigrants get into the job market since we currently have a high unemployment ratio for immigrants so it's intended to make companies favor hiring someone who's an immigrant to help them get a job in Sweden, this would generally be for jobs that required no previous experience such as working at a fast food restaurant, trash collectors aso. the way this was stated in this video made it sound like something different.
    About the maternity/paternity leave, the reason this is suggested is that women in general make less money than men and one of the reasons for this is because they tend to stay home more when they have kids which makes them less desirable to hire. If it was a forced 50/50 that wouldn't be the case. There's also studies that shows that kids who grow up with both parents equally present do better later on. That's at least what the suggested law was trying to fix

      Well if you own a house it makes sense to stay forever. • @herrfriberger5
      @herrfriberger5 6 років тому

      That's true. But the main problem is that the banks lend you money that they don't have backing for (say, in gold). They are basically allowed to print money (electronically). Hence the constant risk for bubbles that will eventually burst, in Sweden or in the US.

    • @melvina628
      @melvina628 6 років тому

      Herr Friberger, exactly. Whether the buyer is paying the loan, or has finished paying the loan, they have the right to live in their own home. Just because you can't find a place to live doesn't mean you can take away someone else's home. That's wrong.
      Housing is not just for the rich, Stefan. The buyer paid their down payment to the bank, which is not cheap. The bank gave them a loan that was right for the buyer. The buyer pays the loan that was selected for them. That's it; the buyer has now bought the house. They own it.

      3- High school education + some English

      Yeah politics today in Sweden have become really hard and complicated because now parties steal each others politics and stuff to win back voters you see it with S and M trying to win back voters from SD and S is also bleeding to V and M to C. Before like 20 to 50 years ago it was really simple you got 2 blocks 1 left wing and 1 right wing. But now SD getting into parliment and becoming a 3rd block and they are winning alot of votes and the old power parties just cant stand losing their power. SD has gained their votes through democracy and voters jumped to them because the 2 blocks did a bad job according to them. I can't vote I'm 16 hehe but I will get back the results for our school election today at 20:00 when they close the voting in the real election. I'm pretty sure M and SD will get alot of votes in the school election because thats were everyone were pretty much when they were at school. KD might get some because they were pretty great in the debate we had in school.

    The reason some Swedish politicians wants to split maternity and paternity leave evenly is because it previously was a totally free choice (atm mandatory paternity leave 3 months?) and women suffered awful economic results. All women of Sweden had 40% less in "pension" than the men and could also not support themselves without their man's "pension", making a divorce impossible. They also suffered more from mental health issues and did most work at home, unpaid.
    All because the majority of the time the family choose to have the woman stay home with their kids. This wasn't very weird though, seeing as men generally earned more and therefore, due to economic reasons, most families chose for the man to keep working.
    Nowdays, the salary gap between men and women have decreased, but there's still the chance that many couples will choose for the woman to stay home, so to prevent women in Sweden from being chained to a man by their economic situations the government has decided to forcefully split the maternity/paternity leave more evenly.
    Sry for the superlånga meddelandet, hope I enlightened you some. Have a great day!
