I've caught word of the supposed "fact" that YT intentionally recommends scarier content at night No idea if it's real, but I've experienced this a few times, but not super consistently. I have a theories as to why they do this, so just scroll a bit further to see 'em (or don't if ya don't wanna, not gonna force anyone) My main idea is just the relevance between night and scary content, and that correlation leads the algorithm to reccommend what it labels as "scary content" since those up at night are thought to be trying to make things scarier (which isn't very true for most individuals who are just tired and/or unable to sleep) Another idea is that YT's algorithm is making an attempt to scare viewers so they stay awake and watch more-leading to more ad-revenue, at the cost of a viewer's sleep schedule. This stems from.the idea that the algorithm is trying its best to keep viewers on the platform for as long as possible to cram as many ads in your eyes as it can for monetary gain. As a result, it (and many other platforms) manipulate common psychological details like being unable to sleep when scared, frying dopamine receptors to get users addicted, and much more (mainly the second one tho... sad). Essentially, they'll puppet whatever they can at any cost of their users' wellbeing just for green cloth-y paper and big numbers I present to you, capitalism-and with it, the greed of Man! Sad, isn't it?
