Let me just pause a moment and say how much I appreciate it that Dave is so available to us, and openely sharing. Plus Marc does an excellent job moderating! Gosh, growing up in the 80s, we could not have imagined such times. I also like to say I am super happy with my synergy system, some BE/BB, Überschall and VAI modules gets fed into an ENGL poweramp. What a beautiful noise.

All this ADA MP-1 talk! I remember going to see my friend in the mid to late 1980s, in LA, visiting my friend, and he was attending GIT. Paul Gilbert is doing a class, and I got to sit in, and he was switching between his ADA MP-1 and a older Marshall with a toaster oven used as a load box. The Marshall sounded better.

I can't believe Nuno does nothing for Dave playing wise. His rythms are off the charts and his lead playing is insane.Maybe the band wasn't everyone's cup of tea but listen to his work isolated. How can you not be floored by it.

Marc, I have a Shaw Retro Mod 15 (Think a Tweed Deluxe with a tighter bottom end - probably very similar to the Suhr Hombre), and until I found a Shaw matching 2x12 cabinet, I was using an EVH Greenback in a 1x12 cab, and it sounded great. I also use the Dr Z Brake Lite with that amp.

Hey Marc, while I still had my Suhr Hombre, I tried it with a WGS G12C that I had in a separate 1x12 and it was much better. Ironically enough I traded that amp against my Friedman twin sister. 😀
Great episode, really like the explanation of pream vs poweramp distortion. That was spot on. And Marc has great point, that if you are tight percussive player, you might not like poweramp distortion.

Pro Co makes the house brand cables at sweetwater. My entire rack is with them and all the other cables I use.
In response to a live question/comment. I’ve never had a problem with the Square Plug SP400 or SPS4. In fact I’ve found them easier to work with (solder) than other brands.
That's true about pedals looking too BIG.
I'm most at home with a Boss Pedal design.They are beautiful in that respect.

Some thing to consider, I have a 5wt self biasing (power tube) amp, 2-2AX7/1power tube
it affords Me the ability to use a "single" or different type power tube (variety) to swap in/out.
a 5wt amp is plenty loud for practice/jamming, Now if We could get dave to make one as well, lol
They were run of the mill new tubes. Definitely not NOS. Those would be way over $500 for a quad. Cool 5w amp you have

Everyone has their taste in music. I’m definitely a fan of his playing. But, I don’t often listen to Extreme.
@@tone-talk Yes and everyone has the right to like or dislike whatever they want i was just surprised to hear that because Nuno's playing is in the tradition/style of EVH and other aggressive rock players. and he play's funk and other styles. Not a fan of the band extreme either but love Nuno's playing!
